Firefox install fails because it cannot find VC Runtime140_1.dll I downloaded the dll but Firefox can't find it. Where should I put this .dll? The bulk of the program installs but it can't search on line.

This is a new Win 10 machine. I've updated and ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth then uninstalled Firefox, put the VCRuntime file in the Win Sys 32 drivers folder, restarted and reloaded Firefox. Still no love.

I'm at the end of the road...what next?

Have update from 89.0.2 to 93.0 today, and like many others it seems been caught out by the assurance that passwords & logons would automatically be transferred. I've found the advice about copying key4.db & logins.json from the Old Firefox data folder that has appeared on my desktop. The problem is I can see key4.db but there is no trace of logins.json. I have show hidden files enabled. Have tried searching the folder and still got no trace. NB there was also no logins.json in new profile folder until I created an account for this support posting, although I realise it may not create until a log on is saved.

The issue is the missing passwords are computer generated and only saved in my firefox browser, and there were definitely some saved with usernames etc.

I noticed a comment that logons.json is a text document. I only have 4 of those - AlternateServices, pkcs11, SecurityPreloadState & SiteSecurityService State. I assume none of these could be logins under a different name?

When dowloading an AAX type file from Audible, Firefox changes it to MP4 (downloads as AAX with other browsers).

Note, changing the file type after the download fixes the problem. But, is there a way to prevent it from happening in the first place? Also, why changing file type in the first place?

Hi, I have a Librem Mini running PureOS based on Linux Debian. I downloaded the binary package of Firefox from the Firefox download page, but may not have installed it properly. I can only run the browser by going to Files, Home, double click the Firefox folder and double clicking the file Firefox. Works perfect, but would like to have the shortcut in my Applications window like all of my other apps. Can anyone help? Thanks, Chris

I am attempting to automate firefox updates and I am attempting to follow the guide listed below: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Software_Update:Manually_Installing_a_MAR_file When I follow those steps the update.status file simply says "failed: 75". Does anybody know the meaning of this error code? Is there a resource out there that I could find which lists the meanings of other error codes? Or am I going about this the wrong way entirely, and there is some better solution for automating firefox updates? Any help is appreciated.

I used to run Firefox 88.0.1 (64 bit) on a Windows 7 PC. With lots of help from this forum I wrote a userchrome.css file to make several changes to the appearance.

On a new Windows 10 machine I installed the same version of Firefox (since I don't care for the latest one). I added my old profle to the new installation and selected it as the default.

Unfortunately, when I opened the program I was prompted to create a new profile; there didn't seem to be any way around this. So I let it happen and tried simply copying my old chrome folder into it - I thought at least I could make the visual changes even if I couldn't import my bookmarks and so on.

But this didn't work either: when I run the program, none of the expected changes are there.

Presumably I've done something wrong, but what, exactly? I'd be grateful for any thoughts. Ideally, I'd like to use the whole of the old Win7 profile but if that's not possible at least changing the appearance would be pleasant.

Many thanks.

Using Firefox browser for iMac. Recently (10/10/2021) attempted to download .aax files from Audible.com. Files were unexpectedly converted to .mp4 files, making files unusable by iBooks. Conferred with Audible Tech support. Audible Tech confirmed that .aax files are the proper format and that they did not/do not make any format conversions on their end. Audible Tech then suggested trying download with Safari. Download (of .aax files with Safari) was successful and maintained proper (.aax) format. Audible Tech said that he had not encountered this issue before and that it seemed to him that the Firefox browser may be responsible for the unexpected conversion. In the past I have used Firefox many times to successfully download .aax files from Audible.com, most recent prior to this problem was on (9/11/2021). I am notifying you simply to advise that you may have a programing glitch within the download programing portion of the latest version of Firefox (ver. 93.0 - 64 bit) for iMac(s).
