WebGL has stopped working. I think this has happened with Firefox 91.

For example, http://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html gives the error Status: WebGL creation failed: * tryNativeGL () * Exhausted GL driver options. (FEATURE_FAILURE_WEBGL_EXHAUSTED_DRIVERS)

I'm running Firefox on Debian on ChromeOS.

On about:support, WebGL 1 Driver Renderer: Red Hat -- virgl WebGL 2 Driver Rendered: Red Hat -- virgl

There are no WebGL errors in about:support

I've tried the Troubleshoot Mode but that made no difference.

I'm using Firefox 106.0.1 on Ubuntu 22.10 from Mozilla's official PPA but when I open some websites the browser crashes with the message "Exiting due to channel error.". I found the error could be related to libwebp with LTO enabled, may be it is, but I rebuilt the Ubuntu's package without LTO and one website stopped crashing, dell.com support page, but several others still crash, like amd.com.

I have recently updated to Firefox 106 on two Arch Linux systems. One of them has Firefox View enabled and working by default, another does not. I looked around and tried some options in about:config to enable it, however it did not work and I reverted the changes. I would like to enable Firefox View on this browser as well, and I would like to know how to enable it.

This morning there was an Ubuntu software update and afterwards Firefox wouldn't work, it just opened and hung without ever connecting to a website. So I uninstalled, purged and reinstalled from Ubuntu Software and everything seemed ok. However, whenever I now try to save something, for instance images, the save to directory will default to /run/user/1000/docs even though I have my downloads folder selected in settings. I can change to the directory I want to save to and it will save there, but when I next save something it will again want to go to the /run/user/1000/docs folder. Further, I find that a copy of anything I save has also been saved into that folder, creating a new sub-directory to do so. I tried clear data in settings but that didn't delete those files and they are protected in file manager so I can't delete them myself. This will fill my hard drive pretty quickly as well as being really annoying having to change the save directory every time. What can I do to rectify this? I've now got version 96.0 (64 bit) installed.

I work on kubuntu 20.04 with plasma 5.18.8 desktop environment. I have a QtCurve-based custom application style, which I almost match with css for GTK apps. Firefox has to be an exception by itself! Not only that, but it changes my ability to customize its interface, from time to time and even changes access to such ability, on some updates.

My scrollbar customizations in userChrome.css and userContent.css do not work any more (other CSS changes still work, for menu/addressbar/tabbar/bookmarksbar orderint and tab styling). I had to resort to settings in user.js file, to get a 20px width scrollbar, suitable for my big screen, but... it gets very wide when I increase the focus, on some webpages and becomes very ugly! Furthermore, I cannot make sense of the proper use of "ui.themedScrollbar*" settings and the scrollbar and its slider result in the same color. These are my settings in user.js:

user_pref("widget.content.gtk-theme-override", "backwater"); user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.enabled", false); // Use GTK-3.0 gtk.css: set to false user_pref("toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets", true); // Use userChrome.css & userContent.css: set to true user_pref("widget.gtk.alt-theme.scrollbar_active", true); user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size.override", 20); // If nothing else works, fix scrollbar width to 20px user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.gtk.scrollbar.round-thumb", false); user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.gtk.scrollbar.thumb-size", 1.0); // originally 0.75 user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.gtk.scrollbar.allow-buttons", true); // it was true, anyway... user_pref("layout.css.cached-scrollbar-styles.enabled", false); user_pref("layout.css.color-mix.enabled", true); user_pref("widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style", 4); // wide scrollbar theme: set to 4 user_pref("ui.themedScrollbar", "#bad1f5"); user_pref("ui.themedScrollbarInactive", "#668cc4"); user_pref("ui.themedScrollbarThumb", "#e4e4e4"); user_pref("ui.themedScrollbarThumbHover", "#e4e4e4"); user_pref("ui.themedScrollbarThumbActive", "#668cc4"); user_pref("ui.themedScrollbarThumbInactive", "#bad1f5"); user_pref("browser.dom.window.dump.enabled", false); user_pref("extensions.ui.sitepermission.hidden", false); user_pref("fission.experiment.max-origins.qualified", true);

Either with the "ui.themedScrollbar*" settings or without them (and cleared from the prefs.js file), the scrollbar and its slider result in the same color, unless I (tryingly) click on some place on the scrollbar outside its slider; then I can see the slider, _only_ for the duration of the mouse-down event (which causes up or down page-hight scrolling).

The default, very thin scrollbar, as well as my modified wide scrollbar with invisible slider are both useless to me! I have even tried fx-autoconfig (https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/fx-autoconfig) to make the scrollbar CSS work, but no result. At this point, I am considering switching to another browser, despite the trust I have to mozilla, for my data and privacy.

There is no userChrome.css in my profile.

Yes, I searched for help. What I found was about userChrome.css to solve specific problems, but not what to do if it doesn't exist. Is userChrome still supported?

Thank you! Mark.

In Ubuntu 18.04, I bring up a new page, click in the search bar in the middle of the page. Then when I start typing it jumps to the address bar although I have already placed and preferred the search bar to the right. No! NO! NO!

I use Duck Duck Go but Google does the same.

It is bad enough that the upgrade was automatically loaded but on top of that, changing preferences including dumping my home page. Change privacy settings without asking ( to a lower level on top of that ).

Really POOR form.

Facebook is a culprit. Also OctoPi, a local service. Facebook, at least, uses rem units. Doesn't react to zooming in.

This problem has been around since the latest version of the old version, and has carried across into the new version. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V no longer work with Google Translate on linux. I have tested in other browsers and it they all work fine. Firefox on Windows also works fine, this problem seems specific to linux.

When you press any of the Ctrl combinations it simply deselects everything and moves the cursor to the end of the text. Mouse works, but it's not practical if you are cutting and pasting all day long.

Site: https://translate.google.com Firefox version: 89.0.2 (64-bit) OS: Ubuntu 20.04

Google Translation is critical to my work so my current solution is I no longer use Firefox. I hope that someone knows of a quick fix, or if it's a bug it's easy to fix as I'd hate to permanently move away from Firefox for something like this.

Thanks!

This the second time I am entering this problem -- the first time Firefox refused to let me return to this site.

First, I am running Firefox on Ubuntu, but Ubuntu is not relevant because the same issue occurs in Windows.

Whenever I access a file, for example, one at https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chioneosoma, its color (which is programmable) changes from a light bluish green to a deeper violet. Where is this color-difference stored? I have thousands of WikiSpecies files I have accessed, and they all show the violet "accessed" color if I ever have opened the file to read its contents. The problem is that when Ubuntu has to be reinstalled, I can add references to all my files, but the color-changes seem to be lost. This is a serious issue, because I currently have over 50,000 files referenced (and saved in my directory file:///home/jwill/Documents/WikiSpecies/Animalia_Plantae_8) and am still adding to them!

I think the storage location must be somewhere in one or more of the following files ('_' replaced '/'):

   _home_jwill_.mozilla
   _home_jwill_.cache_mozilla_firefox
   _home_jwill_.cache_MM_firefox
   _usr_lib_firefox

Can you please tell me where the list of accessed files is stored? Whenever I enter a referenced directory, to access it, the color changes; so, Firefox must be able to store a reference to each new referenced directory name.

The problem is : Some of the time FF just records 0 bytes file and says nothing. I suspect that FF inspect the URL of the links and discard ( perhaps for security reason ) ones that do not begin with HTTP.

The bypass is : One has to copy the link and insert in in the new page of FF.

The solution would be to change FF code.

Thank you.

Hi, I'm using version 101.0.1 (64 bit) for Ubuntu 22.04. When I open a link of a pdf file, the file is displayed in the built-in viewer, since I chose "Open in Firefox" in my settings. But then if I click the download icon nothing happens. If I click the print icon and choose "print to pdf" in the popup, then clicking on "save" does nothing and I have to click "cancel" to dismiss the popup.

Actually there is no way to save a pdf file but setting PDF app to "Ask always" and then open it with "System handler", but then the file is saved into the default download folder, even though I selected the checkbox "Always ask me where to save files" in my settings.

EDIT: the issue was solved by installing the following packages, as shown in this question :

xdg-desktop-portal xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

I am using Pop OS, which is based off of Ubuntu.

Somehow I did something, and it made the icon disappear for Firefox. I figured I could easily search the internet and find a simple solution.

I temporarily fixed it last night, but here it is missing again.

I could upload a picture, but I don't see what difference that would make. The dock at the bottom has a spot for firefox, but no icon, literally an empty spot, In the application menu it is a blank spot with Firefox worded underneath.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, purged, deleted the application data in my user folder..

Just annoying. not a huge problem.

Hey there,

Intro: I recently switched to Linux and (because Brave is so broken) also to Firefox and I am liking it so far.

Problem: Unfortunately I can't copy-paste files from Ubuntu Files (Nautilus) to Firefox (I tested image files and also sounds files, neither is working).

Test with Firefox: 1. Download a random photo (e.g. from Unsplash) 2. Select the file and hit ctrl + c in Files/Nautilus 3. I go to the clipboard inspector 4. I hit ctrl + v 5. The image does not show up in the output (see screenshot)

Test with Brave: 1. Do the same as above 2. The image does show up in the output (see screenshot)

Notes: - I am using Linux Ubuntu 22.04 with Wayland - Firefox Version 107.0 (64-bit) for Ubuntu Canonical - 1.0 - I have no extensions installed - I am not using the snap version (so I can scroll smoothly) ... I think I used apt-get install but not 100% sure
