I recently bought a new laptop of which I updated all the drivers & software first. With everything updated I then installed the latest 64-bit Firefox, and then checked my mail. No addons, or themes, or whatever was installed as of yet.
With just my mail open Firefox was already using near 1GB of memory (865MB)! Is this normal for Firefox to use this much for just one tab? I have Firefox 53 on my old laptop and it can go 10 tabs before it even reaches 1GB...

I have hardware acceleration disabled and my gpu clock still boosts up to max when surfing the web and watching youtube videos. I have gone through the options menu as well as the about:config to ensure it is off. This is causing my GPU to idle at around 50-55c when just watching a youtube video. I have already checked for viruses and malware with nothing to report and it only does this when I am using firefox.

Hi,
since the update to FF 53.0 (and now also with 53.0.2) I've had it freeze on me 5 times and every time it also completely locked up my PC - mouse was frozen, Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work, gave it 10 minutes but was still frozen afterwards - and I had to shut my PC down forcefully.
My system: FF 53.0.2 (32 bit) Win 7 (64 bit) 16gb RAM FF Addons: NoScript & AdBlock Plus
No changes in terms of add ons, no Windows updates or new programs that could have caused this. The only programs running in the background are/were my anti-virus/anti-malware programs, Skype, Outlook, Rainmeter and my mouse driver (all of which I've used for at least the last 6 months). The first two times it happened when I tried to restore tabs from the "oops, that shouldn't have happened" page and the last 3 times when I opened a new tab (with 1-2 other tabs open at max, usually only an empty one!). The 3rd time was 2 weeks ago, the 4th time on May 9th when I opened a new tab after clicking on one of my tiles on the "new tab" page (no other tabs were open at the same time!). Today it happened again! I installed a bunch of Windows updates a couple of days ago and this time I had Minecraft loading up and was watching a movie (DVD) in VLC (no Outlook running this time) but when I opened a second tab in FF, the picture froze again. The weird part is that the sound of the movie kept playing but it didn't let me move the mouse or open the Task Manager. I've never had a video run at the time of the freeze, so I don't know if Windows would have still kept playing the sound the other times.
I can play really hardware-intensive games that use 50+% of my cpu (not that there are a lot that do) and a lot of my gpu's power/VRAM and/or RAM (sometimes goes as high as overall 13gb/16gb) but I've never had any freezes just with games + watching a video at the same time, it always happens while opening a website through one of the tiles or a new tab directly in FF 53.x!
Firefox crashes
Firefox is crashing very often, in particular when play video or many tab are open

Since two weeks or so, whenever I'm (also) running Firefox 53, all over sudden my whole pc freezes: nothing works anymore, no mouse, no task manager, nothing. FF does not create a crash report (doesn't get a chance to do so) All I can do is a hard reset. This does NOT happen when I'm not using FF. (Sometimes I get a warning that Firefox has stopped, but then it keeps running, so probably one of extensions or add-ons has failed.) I have a stand alone, always fully updates Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 pc. SFC /scannow was ok, CHKDSK had to repair errors in the volume bitmap, and memtest86+/8 passes came clean. I cleaned up FF and am now only running one extension.
There can be three causes: 1. Firefox 53 2. Extension(s) 3. Windows (latest updates) 4. Other/unknown
I generated a memory report, which is abracadabra to me, but I it points out what's wrong and someone can explain what to do. But how can I post the memory-report.json.txt?

Repeatedly I tell them I don`t wish to re-install their system, I want to get rid of it. No help at all, they are quite stupid in their replies. Can anyone advise me how to rid myself of the useless piece of rubbish?

I prefer Firefox; however, the old adm template I once used is aged and doesn't seem supported.
Does Mozilla have a method to do this?
I would like to continue using Firefox; however, this is a very big obstacle for work.
Thanks. Justin

I don't need anything protecting me from this .mil website that's required for my work. I sent in this question before, and got no response. Please help.

Over the past couple of weeks we've been noticing occasional long delays from clicking on a link and the link opening. We are a small office an run a variety of XP and Win7 machines with Firefox 52 & 53. It happens more often on some machines than others, the delay is also variable from about 15 seconds to about 120 seconds, again that delay seems consistent per machine.
I've been using our Intranet to try and isolate the problem, after clicking on a link the status bar at the bottom shows "waiting for intranet...." and that sits there until the page loads. The Intranet server is in the same subnet as the workstations.
I have tried the following :- 1) Changing DNS name for the server IP. I have also done an NSLOOKUP in a command shell in the background whilst waiting. 2) Disabled Proxy settings in the OS. Also set FF to be no proxy. 3) MS Internet Explorer appears to be OK. I can access the Intranet from the same PC whilst FF is waiting 4) Running FF in Safe Mode 5) Trying FF Portable 6) Disabled anti virus 7) Disabled FF Health Report, Block Dangerous Content, 8) Set geo.enabled = false
I've used a network sniffer and can see the initial GET is not sent until after the delay so it does not look like a network problem. There is quite a bit of FF traffic though, for example detectportal and self-repair at mozilla.com.
I'm really stumped, it seems the randomly FF is just sat twiddling its thumbs before contacting the target website.

Hello, it's me again, I keep asking this question and no one seems to know, Must be nice Mozilla dumping your whole IT support department on the community, I am sure you save lots. Anyway, since Mozilla won't return my calls, and it's been over a month, can anyone, for the love of all that is holy explain to me why I can sync on two other devices but when I try to sync from my main laptop I get "Email Was Returned" , I have double checked the spelling, so, what's preventing it from going through? Somebody has to know, since Mozilla is keeping quiet.

I recently decided to re-install Windows 10 on my laptop. I used backup software by Western Digital called "WD SmartWare" to back up all of my files to an external drive.
After I deleted the partition and re-installed Windows 10, I discovered that the backup didn't install the AppData\Roaming folder for some reason (I've contacted them about this already) so I had no Firefox profile.
I tried a few data recovery programs and found lots of old bookmarks files with the .json.lz4 extension. Despite all of my efforts, Firefox is unable to import any of these files. I have a hard time believing they have ALL been corrupted during the deletion. Is there anything I can do to somehow fix the files or diagnose them better? I also tried restoring places.sqlite with similar problems.

Firefox 53.0.3 (Windows 32-bit on 64-bit OS) hangs if I trying to move focus to address bar while any system tooltip for any element on currently opened page is shown. For example, a New Tab Page is opened. Then, I hover mouse cursor on one of a thumbnails, and a tooltip with target address appears. Then I press F6, and FF immediately stops responding and consumes about 45% of CPU so long time, that I can't wait so much (several hours), and I kill it's process. I tried to repeat it with "-safe-mode" command line option, and result is the same. The tooltip's rectangle stays on top of all windows until FF process is being killed.
