As of 11/21/2021 is there any way to stop detaching and floating videos ? All the searches on the Web produce loads of blogs where the issue is discussed -- but none of it works definitively. A lot of Hot Air and useless comments on the topic. Most point to about:config, which has been shown useless to stop floating videos, in my experience. Have tried every permutation of manipulating relevant config settings according to advice I have found -- nothing works. At the DailyMail.Com you can ad a script to AdBlock and it works -- for one site...

All the search links go in circles and just repeat the same information -- none of which works. Particularly annoying are the CBS affiliate sites with the URL *CbsLocal.com. Element blocking and ad blocking via UBlock and AdBlock does NOT work beyond one page view. It seems the floating video frames are given unique tags each time the page loads so you would have to code every combination of the alpha-numeric identifiers they use. That number is something like equivalent to the number of all the grains of sand on all the beaches in the world, according to my calculator...

If I am directed to manipulate about:config again I think I will scream and pull my hair out. Such a major annoyance and I am to believe there is utterly no way to stop it ? After all these years and the FF developers haven't looked into this ? I find that hard to believe...

Hi,

I wonder why Firefox is so slow when a site is present in it's cache.

It's been the same problem for years, whenever I'm getting a long TTFB from the server, let's say a TTFB of a second or two, I know that clearing Firefox's cache of that site will resolve the issue and bring down the TTFB to it's normal of around 100ms.

Why and how clearing the cache changes the server TTFB?

Thank you.

Hi All,

formerly there was a "view release notes" button in the update reminder window to check whether the new release is worth the installation or not. This button disappeared several months ago. Is there a way to enable it in about:config? I think that asking about an update makes no point without showing the list of changes...

Thank you,

Gábor

Good day.

I use Firefox 94.0.1 and the latest version of CCleaner. I sometimes use the "Clear Storage Button" and "Cookie Auto Delete" addons.

My situation:

1. In Firefox, settings for clearing history, Cookie, Site settings and Cache boxes are NOT checked.

2. I do some surfing. Then I'll look in the FF "Cookies and Site Data" - Manage Data, and I see cookies.

3. *Without closing the browser*, but closing any active tabs and leaving *one* inactive tab (blank) in place.

4. I will, for instance, hit the "Clear Storage Button" - which is set up to clear cookies.

5. Looking back in the FF "Cookies and Site Data" - Manage Data, the cookies have been removed.

6. Launching CCleaner, then Options, Cookies: cookie data still shows up!!!

7. I repeat the process, same result.

8. If I then *close* FF and look again at the CCleaner, Options, Cookies, the cookies info is gone.

This is the same result with using either "Clear Storage Button" and "Cookie Auto Delete" addons.

So the situation I have is this:

- I can remove cookie data from FF using an addon.

- As long as I don't close FF completely, CCleaner will still show cookie data.

- Once I close FF completely, then cookie data in CCleaner goes away.

- Please look back at #1 above.

It seems as though an addon can delete cookies in FF, and FF shows they have been deleted, but CCleaner is still picking up some residual data from FF, or so it appears.

Sign me, "Got me boggled".

Thanks for any help.

FireFox autofilling in address bar

Whenever I type "f" into the address bar in FireFox the following auto populates and suggests:

place:folder=BOOKMARKS_MENU&folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS&folder=TOOLBAR&queryType=1&sort=12&maxResults=10&excludeQueries=1/

There are no folders named "BOOKMARKS_MENU" "UNFILED_BOOKMARKS" or "TOOLBAR" that can be found on the computer. Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu exist under Application Menu>Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks. No "Unfiled" exists in Manage Bookmarks, an "Other Bookmarks" does exist.

If I uncheck the option for FireFox to auto fill suggestions from bookmarks it stops. But, obviously, that is not a good solution.

No other letter generates this suggestion.

Typing "s" auto fills and suggests:

place:sort=8&maxResults=10/

Typing "t" auto fills and suggests:

place:type=6&sort=14&maxResults=10/

No other single letter auto fills and suggests a "place:" formatted suggestion. All others just suggest bookmarks or nothing.

A very serious bug in all Firefox browsers (it's been around for several years!). If you open multiple tabs (many tabs) in your browser, virtually all settings will not work, e.g. you won't open Options, Menus, various tasks, extensions, won't save your bookmarks, and many other problems. Although the browser opens a page and the Tab works! But everything else is NOT WORKING, even in Safe Mode or Troubleshooting Mode! I've reported this many times: No developer help! Firefox locks up, in windows task manager, multiple versions running from start up between 5 and 8, also multiples with Thunderbird 3 to 4. never noticed multiples running before, only looked as it started to lock up/very slow just over a week ago. Ran refresh to return to basics, no change, re installed no change. Might not be Firefox/Thunderbird, but what could cause it.

This problem has been happening for a long time now. When I'm playing a playlist in YouTube, and YouTube automatically select the next song in the playlist, the song stops and I get the message "Playback Paused because your account is being used in another location". This problem ONLY happens in Firefox and with this playlist scenario. If I select the song manually in the playlist, the song will play just fine. I've used other browsers Chrome and Microsoft Edge and DO NOT have the problem in there so I know my account isn't being used in another location. I've tried using multiple PC's/Laptops and both Windows 7 and 10 and the problem always only happens when using Firefox. I checked the About section in Firefox and it's showing Firefox is Up To Date.

[Edited: Point (1) is now serious. Point (2) can be ignored. I have edited the question title to indicate that it still occurs in version 94.0.1. My latest post in this thread identifies another symptom of the update problem]

I have been automatically updated to 90.0.2 on several machines (most 64-bit Windows 7), but there appear to be problems with the latest version. I can't see evidence that these have already been reported.

1) Window update. When the browser window comes to the fore (top of the z-order), or when resurrecting from a minimized state, it does not redraw the whole window. Usually, half is missing. However, a cursor-move event while over the window triggers a redraw.

2) I have just experienced CAPTCHA issues trying to get into an gov.ie website. Instead of showing me text to enter into the field, it just showed a gray square. However ,the same challenge works OK in Chrome (i.e. it's not a problem with the site itself).

Are these known issues? Is there a way to regress to the previous version?
