Looking for a solution/work around to the new FF protocols which REFUSE exceptions, which has cut me off from streaming from LEGITIMATE web sites like https://news.stlpublicradio.org/ and other sites as well.

I have used FireFox since Netscape, but am now using Chrome which works fine.

Security is great, but when the security Trumps the ability to actually USE the web sites, then how is that different than just blocking the "offending" website.

You should ask yourselves why the FF market share is so low.

You guys need to come out of the clouds and smell the digital earth where most of us dwell. I love you all for what you do, but you seem to be blowing it. Please get it together.

I've installed lots of add-ons thru out the years and when I'm not using them, or just didn't like them, I just go to the "Add-ons" settings and press on "disable" thinking that's the end of the story. But I've become more privacy and security concerned as time passes and now I'm wondering if I should delete all the add-ons that I no longer have any use for, (and some useful ones but are very sketchy).

What I mean is that some add-ons "require" permission to everything you do in your web browser "to work properly" and well that's beyond sketchy. I recently used an old add-on and realized it worked perfectly even after over 2 years of it being disable, I mean even after multiple firefox updates. I realized that the add-on had "automatic updates" turned on so... even disabled it was updating in the background... therefore it was somewhat active.

Now I'm wondering if all of this sketchy add-ons that I've installed thru out the years that need all kinds of weird "permissions" like access to well... -everything- (passwords, history, credit cards, etc...) have been collecting all this data even after I disable them years ago?

Any site I go to such as my utility companies that have a link for me to open and view my bill while logged into my online account are prevented from opening by Firefox. Their help articles define the pop-up window as a window that opens automatically. That is not what I'm talking about. I am selecting the link. I am giving the site permission to open the window. It is not automatic. Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, no other browser has this problem. please help.

For the last few weeks I keep getting this error message: An error occurred during a connection to ....... You are attempting to import a cert with the same issuer/serial as an existing cert, but that is not the same cert.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_REUSED_ISSUER_AND_SERIAL

It will suddenly happen for multiple sites that I have been connected to in the past, or new sites I try to open including support.mozilla.org. A solution is to clear my history and restart the browser. It only happens on my windows 10 laptop. I think happens when I have logged off or the device has slept and then firefox has restarted and opened previously open tabs. Other devices on the same network don't get effected.

I'm unable to get Lloyds bank to recognize that cookies are enabled. I've tried clearing cache+history etc but no joy. Having tried the Lloyds bank cookies page and enabling cookies still no joy and login refused. Standard setting in Security & Privacy and advised resets all tried multiple times. Anything to do with "trusted" device? Trust prompt not reissued after resetting everything. Had to use Chrome to login - and got the "trust this device" prompt on first use.

I won't check a box that opts me into observational and INTERVENTIONAL studies that I won't even be aware that I'm in since I don't look every 5 minutes at the settings and may do things like the evil sort of one fb ? did that changed your emotions.

That's a great example of why I moved to Firefox from Chrome and am wary of Facebook.

I'd be more than happy to check a box that says: "Please offer me any/all studies I may be eligible for including add'l questions to see if I'm eligible, with a reasonable stab at assent (not even informed consent). And of course whether data is anonymous (truly, as in after the study even if you wanted to you couldn't figure out which person was which), or not. Not anonymous may be fine....depending on the study. My very best, really, you're great....AND I'd be happy to discuss, advise (see below)...my 'toolbox' isn't simply biomedical. Darren

(Just me being pedantic now ignore this as you wish: And you say "study" ... I'm a researcher (sometimes)...IRB, grants, peer review, publications. Research is the "creation of generalizable knowledge." Is that what you're doing? I suspect you're doing more "quality improvement" where you figure out what works better for you...and SOMETIMES that is generalizeable knowledge (i.e., certain colors make people happy in every browser not Firefox specific), but do you publish it as peer reviewed research? Now, it's TOTALLY FINE if you don't and it's QI....but would specify that and not call it studies...call it...evaluating improvements or whatever. The use of the word 'study' and 'research' drive me nuts since when we talk to people about actual 'studies' and 'research' they conflate that with marketing evaluations of what makes us by more or which candidate we're interested in or how to sell things to us.)

Hi!

I'm representing LiveJournal and I'd like to clarify the recent security concerns.

We consider security our main priority and are constantly paying particular attention to it when developing new features and updating old ones. Within the past 8 years we have:

- switched to HTTPS for all pages; - improved password storage mechanics; - implemented suspicious activity detecting system which tracks and block suspicious logins; - maintained monitoring for vulnerabilities both within LiveJournal's code and third-party software employed by us; - recommended all of our users to update their passwords at least once per 6 months and to use different passwords for different services; - we have also disabled passwords that haven't been updated for several years.

You may find the details in official LJ new channel - https://news.livejournal.com/155859.html

We are keeping track of the information distributed in the Internet and want our users to feel safe. That’s why we kindly ask you to stop showing security alert to Firefox browser users about their LiveJournal accounts security.

Thank you.

I have several websites where I am a paying customer to be able to access content. On some of them when I log into their site I am not recognized as being logged in, when I open a new tab on that site. On the New York Times website it will sometimes happen when I link to individual stories from the front page, but a simple page refresh then will show I am logged in.

On my job search website though Flexjobs (at www.flexjobs.com ) it almost always opens the page as if I am not logged in. It's maddening to have to log in again and then try to find where I was!

I'm running the latest version of Firefox, and have cleared the cache.

Tonight when I tried to get onto Firefox it took about 5minutes or so before the site came up which is unusual because it normally comes up immediately and it is faster than my previous browser which was Google Chrome. When it did finally show on the screen a site called "Linked in" came up and sent a message saying that it was sorry for any problems that I was having. The another icon came up on the Firefox homepage saying that it had block a social network. Then a privacy notice from Google came up and asked me to agree to all its privacy settings. I am not sure whether I should agree to the privacy settings or whether the other messages are linked in some way. Regards Mark
