Hello everyone. I noticed a small problem on my own. When I open a channel on YouTube, the video that is on the main page of the channel I went to starts by itself. I know this is normal. But when I then go to another channel in YouTube, the video from the main page of the first channel continues to be launched. I went to listen to the radio on the channel, but the music and sound from the previous video got mixed, they started to sound together. I'm using Linux Mint 20.1 and I don’t know how things are on Windows. So I think the problem is hidden in the browser itself.

When I try to share one of my monitor's via WebRTC (e.g. https://www.webrtc-experiment.com/Pluginfree-Screen-Sharing) the options are the open windows and "share full screen", which is a combination of both my monitors. (1280x1024 and 1920x1080) I tested this with firefox 86.0 and firefox-nightly 88.0a1.20210301. To ensure it aren't addon's or a weird setting that I made that stop the screen sharing I used the command "firefox-nightly --profile /tmp/firefox-test" I use Arch-Linux with i3 as window manager with the X11 Server. I would except to be able to select the individual monitor's instead of the combination of all.

This morning, when I turned on my computer, found that firefox lose all the data in my session: no bookmarks, no stored sessions... nothing. I launched the profile manager and there were two profiles, but both were equal: no data.

I checked the profiles folder and found that there were three profile folders, but in the profiles.ini file only the two more recent (from today) were configured; the third one, with date from the friday (when I turned off the computer) wasn't included in the profiles.ini file. I added it manually (after doing a backup, just-in-case), but no luck: no bookmarks, no stored passwords... but only some sessions in some pages were saved. But in the folder there IS a logins.json file with all the data. Oddly enough there is NO bookmarks file anywhere...

Also, the friday I had a similar problem with thunderbird: I completely lost the session, and had to recreate it from scratch (fortunately, I use IMAP).

I'd like to know how I can enlarge a specific font by some factor, but leave other elements the same as normal size, on a chat site. A particular font is pretty hard to read, and I'd like to leave the typeface similar, but simply bigger, and not mess with the whole page.

I know this has come up many times before, I've read the solutions like this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1019210

But its old. There is also HSTS which Im not sure how that works and frankly, as a user I don't care.

We use internal websites on a company intranet domain. For example, a simple webpage to show the status of an application. I had to enable apache and made its config, so I know for a fact the site itself is not redirecting to https (other browsers aren't redirecting). Firefox insists on changing my address bar to https. When I use tcpdump or check the firewall, I dont even see port 80 traffic, firefox doesnt even try.

I tried the above, I also: - disabled addons (which I know dont redirect but to be sure) - erased the relevant history - deleted HSTS config file from my Mozilla profile - tried opening in a private window

The site above is an example, it happens with other sites too. Sometimes, it works for a while and then it stops. Sometimes, I find another site entry in the HSTS file, remove it and try again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm at a loss what to try next.

When I completely erase and start a new profile, without sync or addons, it might work but only for a short while. This isn't an option because literally, the only reason I still use firefox is because sync works reasonably well, across all devices, including most settings and addons.

I hope someone can help me fix this, I'd appreciate it!

Firefox 86 default printer (print_printer) changed any time you use a secondary printer, causing print preview to fail

First the hardware and software: Ubuntu Linux 20.10, Firefox 86, HP OfficeJet 8600, Dymo LabelWriter 330

After successfully printing to a secondary printer (the Dymo using an address label paper size), the new "print preview" hangs. It appears that the print_printer setting in about:config gets changed to the Dymo instead of my default printer (the HP). The only way that I have found to correct this problem is to go into about:config EVERY time I print something to the Dymo from Firefox, then delete the stored value. I never had this problem until the latest version of Firefox. It would sure be nice to be able to either leave the setting going to my default printer, or at a minimum, for Firefox to go back to the traditional print dialog where the desired printer could be selected instead of unsuccessfully trying to render the page for the wrong printer.

For the last couple of days, Firefox on my laptop too has started consuming too much RAM. Firefox is running continuously on my laptop from 9am to about 1am the following day. Last night around 1 am, I noticed that my Firefox froze and no window was responding. Seconds later, my laptop froze I was getting bare minimal response. After opening the process monitor, I found that a web-content process of Firefox was consuming 5GBs of my 8GB ram! I killed the process and restarted Firefox and things became normal.

Some time later, I again noticed that a web-content process of Firefox was consuming 1GB of RAM and the consumption was rising very fast. In about half a minute, that increased to 2.3GB!

What could be the bug and how can I fix it?

Printer is OKI C531DN connected via network with A4 paper.

Works fine in Firefox 86 on Windows. Works fine in FIrefox 76 on Linux (Mint, OpenSuse).

Problem with Firefox 86 in Linux. The job goes to the printer which then complains about paper size - needs a4_210x297mm. I can press OnLine on printer and job completes OK. Chrome works OK and I can print to PDF then print that OK.

Values in about:config print.printer_OKI_DATA_CORP_C531.print_paper_height 11.6945 print.printer_OKI_DATA_CORP_C531.print_paper_id iso_a4_210x297mm print.printer_OKI_DATA_CORP_C531.print_paper_size_unit 0 print.printer_OKI_DATA_CORP_C531.print_paper_width 8.26378

On other instances the unit is 1 and measurements are in metric. Paper_id is iso_a4 or from memory I think there is a media_id set to 1. It looks like the paper_id is what is causing the problem. The printer knows a4 but not a4_210x297mm. If I reset the values FireFox resets them to the broken values when I request printing.

Opening links from other applications or command line (`firefox mozilla.org`) takes always over 10 seconds. In fact, it is very consistent that it takes between 10.19 and 10.23 seconds to open. Opening links and tabs from within firefox is not an issue, works instantly. Problem persists even after restarting browser in safe mode with all extensions disabled. It isn't consuming resources either during these 10 seconds, seems to just sit idle:

time firefox mozilla.org

real 0m10,196s user 0m0,121s sys 0m0,017s

How could I debug or solve this issue?

EDIT: I have determined that this delay only occurs while connected to VPN.

I have a popup, launched from onClick with a URL and a name. In the popup's body tag I have

<body onBlur="self.close()">

With Chrome (Version 89.0.4389.82 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04) it works as intended. If I move focus outside of the popup window the window closes. I can drag the popup around and resize it. I can reuse it with a different URL.

With Firefox (86.0) as soon as I touch the frame (to resize) or the header (to drag) the window closes.

I tried onfocusout, but the window goes to the background and does not close.

What am I doing wrong? Or how can I make Firefox behave like Chrome?

Linux Mint several versions, Windows 10.

Microphone permissions do not get "remembered" properly. Microphone permissions exceedingly difficult to navigate through, to enable the microphone.

Have endured this one for several years, off and on, multiple versions of Firefox.

For some reason, Firefox prevents GLOBAL permissions for the microphone, and instead, causes us to have to chase down a specific site to give specific-site permission to, in order to use the microphone.

Even then, it doesn't work right, often enough to be problem. It is intermittent in occasionally "forgetting" that approval was given to a site. It also does not allow manual override in the form of typing in a site, and giving that site permission, without first being connected to that site, and using the bizarrely-arcane system of clicking on a small icon on the address bar to include the site, and again, this does not always work well, anyway.

Multiple interlocking difficulties/issues, one result, no mic at the time it's needed to communincate with someone, real-time.

Is there any way, PLEASE, to simply provide a GLOBAL switch for the microphone, to simply turn it on, for everybody, and everything? Something in about:config I could go to, and tell it to OVERRIDE all other considerations, and just let the microphone alone, and let me use it?

I compartmentalize my browsing to a significant degree, and the sites I visit with Firefox are quite limited (most of which is associated with a Google Voice account, but not every last bit of it), and even then, it is so fragmented and buggy, that I find myself again and again, talking to someone who cannot hear me, even though I'd jumped through every single hoop previously, and had everything working previously, until reverted inexplicably back to its bad old ways, silently, without warning, without advising me that something had changed. Private browsing is disabled, but I'm running several privacy extensions.

But again, it sure would be nice if I could just find, and invoke, a GLOBAL ALLOW switch for the microphone, set it one time, and forget about it thenceforth and forevermore.

Please do not refer me to the existing hoops to jump through. Please do not refer me to the little security icon in the address bar. Please do not refer me to any single web page which I must allow without allowing permission for ALL web pages. My familiarity with this end of the issue is beyond extensive. Been there. Done that. Over and over and over. And it works, and then it breaks once again.

To sum up: Please provide a GLOBAL OVERRIDE for the microphone to turn it on and then forget about it.

My very kindest thanks, in advance.
