I want to develop a Firefox AddOn. I still read and tried some of the the AddOn tutorials.

But it is still hard for me to start something usefull. I have no idea about JavaScript but very familiar with Python, C/C++ and some other languages.

One of my first tasks would be to read HTML content of the current page. I want to find and extract a newsfeed URL like this

<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Aktuelle News von heise online" href="https://www.heise.de/rss/heise-atom.xml"> <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Aktuelle News von heise online (für ältere RSS-Reader)" href="https://www.heise.de/rss/heise.rdf">

Of course I do not expect a full solution from you. I just need a hint which of the multiple addon parts are responsible for a task like this? What are the keywords here? Where is the relevant part of the API reference.

Can you point me to the right direction?

Symptoms are that pages and tabs are created when I do things like press links and invoke other actions with my cursor. The most common page that opens up has as part of the name 360daily. Tabs that open up always seem related to the tab I had just invoked some action with.

Presently, I am running Version 67.0.1 (64 bit) on my Mac Air though I have had the problem before installing new versions (at least twice). This has gone on for I think over a year anyway.

Firefox is currently unusable. I have both Firefox 67.0.2 installed and FF Developers addition, and on both browsers the bookmarks tab keeps opening and closing with every keystroke.

I've tried disabling my extensions, starting in safe, and even reinstalling (left FF Dev uninstalled). I've come across this board message, yet I don't have a user.js profile file anywhere, just prefs.js. Still, clearing that out did not work.

Any ideas, this just started yesterday. I dont think my keyboard is bugging out, as everything else seems fine

What about installing the possibility to have "rolling", interchanging themes ?

Hi,

Here's some feedback.

I noticed that there's something missing. Well,... If you were to manage to handle it, you may be THE FIRST ONES TO HAVE IT IN YOUR BROWSER !

What i am talking about is a "rolling" theme. With which I mean a continuously changing theme, as follows.

An example would be that a user could be able to e.g. chose 5 (or more) different themes and that these would roll at the top of the browser, with a preset time of x seconds or x minutes, either to be determined by the user or by Mozilla. Here I believe it will all depend on the type of software you will be able to build and of the security for the browser, no ?

Out of experience, I know that this technology exists, having been a webmaster and having built and serviced 5 websites on different subjects. In order to recuperate some of the money I spend on the costs of the webspace, programs, etc, I added quite a few, but not too much, publicity banners on these websites. The banners led either to click-through, buys, etc. and herewith I earned a certain amount, not enough to get all of the money back, but that was never my purpose.

Now, if I remember well, these banners were made in Javascript or Java. If someone with you knows either which language, then my proposal could be of effect very soon.

Lots of success and many thanks for your help !

Sharing has changed? Is this called "native sharing?" I do not want a Windows-centric app experience. I just want to click share, enter email, send. and move on with my life. No, email link is not what I want because, again, it's a Windows-centric app.

Do I have any choice in the matter of how I want to share?

No matter how I close Firefox, (X, File->Exit, Menu->Exit), if I start it again it doesn't automatically restore the previous session.

If I click on "Menu->restore previous session" it does restore it.

Of course "Restore previous session" is enabled.

Why did it stop working, what changed?

I'm working on my sister's Win10 laptop. I added the recent version of FireFox: 67.0.4 (64-bit). I can open FireFox; no problem. I can open multiple tabs; no problem. However, if I attempt to open a second browser session, I can briefly see the silhouette of a second FireFox icon and then that second FireFox icon quickly disappears; also no second browser session opens. I've painfully made many changes to Win10; mostly ferreting out unnecessary MS Bloatware. Twice through this process FireFox was able to have more than one browser session open. This brief success is gone after the next reboot.

FireFox is whitelisted in Popupblocker.

It's getting more and more complicated for us "oldies". We're not adolescent typists on a so-called smart phone - and we're going to suffer when Kiwibank ditches cheques and we have to learn all the ins and outs of on line banking. We were brought up in the days of times tables - pocket calculators weren't invented then. But it's overwhelming when we get all these instructions on setting up for the likes of "private" and "non-private" browsing, and the myriad of "apps" and "extensions" and whatever. If Microsoft Windows and Browsers of this day and age require a degree in how to use them, then I'll see if I can find a guru who can install Linux and a real simple Seniors Browser. Not one that sends you a host of emails on "useful hints" and "Things to do in Europe" if you happen to book and on-line ticket to see your grandchildren in Switzerland. Us 80's plus need something simple and safe to use. Forget all the gadgets. Can you re-shoe a horse - or tether one to a single furrow plough?

I am a daily Firefox user and I never faced an issue like this before. I got my new laptop installed Firefox in the beginning it worked for weeks perfectly with the plug-ins I was using on my old PC as well. Everything was working very smoothly but nowadays I am facing issue where it takes too long to load any websites. Even it takes to load and complete the process to connect it to google.com around 10 seconds for sure. I refreshed it once then I tried same issue as before, reinstalled it again nothing worked out for me. I have pretty good internet setup on my home. Is there anyone who is facing the same problem these days or am I special? I want to overcome this problem quickly please help. Thanks.
