I'm running openSUSE 11.3 on my desktop. A message said I need to upgrade Firefox. I clicked on upgrade and it downloaded a file named "firefox-6.0.2.tar.bz2"

I've extracted the tar file, but can't find a script file to upgrade Firefox. I don't want to mess up the Firefox that's running, so I don't want to blindly run somethin… (read more)

I've extracted the tar file, but can't find a script file to upgrade Firefox. I don't want to mess up the Firefox that's running, so I don't want to blindly run something I'm not sure what it's going to do. I can't find instructions on how to manually upgrade Firefox, and it won't upgrade automatically. What's my next step? Can I get some help?

I have tried everything I can think of and that has been suggested in your knowledge base but FF will not open. I have downgraded to an earlier version but that didn't help so I've uninstalled everything and have done a clean reinstall of 7.0.1. I've rebooted at each step.

However when I tried to bring my bookmarks into Chrome (so I could keep working) it said FF was open. Same thing when I went to uninstall it. Task Manager does not show it running. Chrome is working so it's not my internet connection.

I have not installed any new software or hardware recently although I did upgrade Roboform to the latest version. This was the reason to update FF as the RF addon wasn't compatible with the version of FF I was using.

I've scanned for viruses and the machine is clean.

I am on a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium. At the moment I am working off my old laptop but I need FF working on my main machine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kathy

Sometimes they get moved somehow. If I search for the name I have given the bookmark, it comes up, but doesnt tell me WHERE it is filed, in my many bookmark folders, so I can move it back where it belongs. This can happen to an entire folder, and can take FOREVER to find where it has been moved to. When it comes up in a bookmark search, clicking on its' properties also does not show where the bookmark is LOCATED.

Gonna bug you with this problem because it is serious. I DO NOT WANT TO BE REDIRECTED to DESTRUCTIVE SITES. But lately that seems to be what happens when I click on a regular search item. How can I prevent this. The search item has a good website listed and if I cut & paste it works. I never had this hassle before. Does it have to do with the latest updates? Help. Thank you.

If I open too many Bookmarked pages into tabs my browser will hang and then sometimes crash or close unexpectedly. If I bring up task manager or use the Alt + Tab I can navigate to the window and right-click and choose restore to allow me to see the window again. This needs to be done if I load more than 10 pages at once. Is there a way to choose to prevent loading of all opened tabs and then choose which tabs I'm currently working with to load the webpage? I would like to know how to use a shortcut key on my keyboard to select all tabs as ctrl + A does not work and then escape or another key tells to stop all pages from loading in each tab as with all the ads, gifs, videos, and internet spam keeps growing it is too much of a strain to have multiple webpages opened in tabs on the browser.

I use Win XP SP2 and I am eagerly waiting a solution as it has been an issue with even previous versions of Firefox however IE could only have about 3 tabs opened and then would crash that is why I stick with Firefox as my browser of choice.

I run XP SP2 and will not be loading XP SP3. I run Firefox 3.6.22 because Roboform suckered me with a lie. When I purchased Roboform, I was "guaranteed all updates AND UPGRADES for LIFE," but when Firefox changed from 3.6, there was an apparent collusion with Roboform so that the new versions of Roboform were blocked from working on Firefox after 3.6 (at the same time, of course, Firefox removed Firefox's password management from the browser), and the customers that Roboform had guaranteed "upgrades for life" were NOT grandfathered in to prevent breaking Roboform's promise/guarantee to them.

I will be switching to Linux, but I will be using LastPass (instead of Roboform) until then. I will never pay Roboform another penny, and I always post my experience with their dishonesty whenever the forum is conducive.

I can switch browsers, but I had just as soon stay with Firefox if you can tell me what version of Firefox will run CORRECTLY with XP SP2 (and be maintained properly)? A link to it would be helpful.

Thank you, Grace Birdsong

The plug-in list below is partially, but not altogether, correct. I use Microsoft Office, and don't use most of the plug-ins listed.

My toolbar bookmark icons change constantly, and it's been getting worse lately. Gmail seemed to be the first, but now many more are changing. I delete titles for these so I can cram many of these onto the toolbar, so it's really important. After I click onto one of these errant icons, they will sometimes re-establish themselves, in Gmail, for example, after signing in. Other times they don't.
