I have set my privacy settings to block all third-party cookies, but it makes wading through the console annoying when working with my userscripts.

Not only do I not care as practically every site complains about it, but the warning isn't even useful in understanding what has been blocked most of the time. I just end up with a console filled with "Cookie “” has been rejected as third-party." from a bunch of random sources.

Is there some way to suppress these and only these warnings? I want to be able to actually use warnings in my scripts. As of now, I just don't display warnings and use the other logging levels.

Hello,

I'm trying to get my Firefox on Mac to use the DNS supplied by my DHCP. If I have Apple's Private Relay turned off, everything works correctly. However, if Apple's Private Relay is turned on, then Firefox will use Apple's Private Relay DNS (Cloudfare in my location). I have confirmed it's a configuration problem in Firefox because Chrome uses the correct DNS, and so does dig in the terminal.

I have tried:

  • Resetting Firefox to default settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall Firefox, including deleting the Firefox folder that contains the Profiles folder and profiles.ini file
  • Clearing cache and Firefox DNS at about:networking#dns
  • In Network Settings, tried 'No Proxy', 'Auto-detect proxy settings for this network', and 'Use system proxy settings'
  • Confirmed Enable DNS over HTTPS is not checked (If I check it, then it does work correctly, but that isn't my goal)

Thanks for any help!

Hi, I have Autoplay disabled in the firefox settings, however as most people will know a lot of websites circumnavigate this becasue they know better then me.

The below website "Twitter" refuses to acknowledge my "settings" https://twitter.com/search?src=typed_query&q=%23ukraine

Why can't Firefox fix this? Why have settings if websites can just ignore them?? Also another thing, Autoplay dosen't make any sense to me, if you wan't to watch the full video, you have to first turn on sound, and then move the slider bar the the start. This is stupid! Just let the user choose if they would like to have videos autoplay or not. I hate the internet.

One more thing, I do realize there is a setting in Twitter to disable autoplay, however you need to be logged in for that option to be available. Websites should just repesct the settings of there webusers. Thants why "global settings' exist. Unfortunately just another redisculous control feature of the modern internet.

Thank you for reading and or helping.

Hi, first some introduction. There two methods to download file from server:

  • left click on file and file could be opened in internal viewer (in case of PDF),
  • right click and "Save Link As..." which saves file to disk.

But when I try to download file from protected area (I will describe server below) it doesn't work as described above.

When I enter protected area on server I authenticate as usual. There's pop-up asking for Username and Password. I log in and then when I:

  • left click on file it opens in internal viewer but...
  • when I right click on file and use "Save Link As..." authentication pop-up opens again.

I can then put my credentials or I can just press Cancel, whatever I choose file is downloaded. Same happens for every file dowloaded with right click.

This is annoying if someone wants to download multiple files.

OK, now what happens on server side? There's Apache2 configured with basic authentication method. When I left click server log shows: 192.168.1.99 - user1 [25/Jul/2022:14:46:39 +0200] "GET /area1/test_file.pdf HTTP/1.1" 200 849985 but when I right click, server says: 192.168.1.99 - - [25/Jul/2022:14:48:11 +0200] "GET /area1/test_file.pdf HTTP/1.1" 401 464 192.168.1.99 - - [25/Jul/2022:14:48:13 +0200] "GET /area1/test_file.pdf HTTP/1.1" 401 464

So, as you can see with left click server respons with "200 OK" status code, but with right click it says two times that I'm unauthorized (401 Status Code). And even I'm so called unauthorized, I can download this file.

Chrome do not asks for authorization every time I try to download file. I log in only once and then I can dowload many files with right click.

I tested it with other than PDF formats and FF asks for auth everytime.

Will someone help me understand this situation?

Cheers, Paweł p.s. I can provide configuration of Apache server if that could help.

Hi,

I have always used a "clear mostly everything" at exit approach to privacy. Before using FF I'd set exceptions for cookies that I prefer to keep (like search engine preferences) but I understand that isn't possible in FF, so I ended up using a different approach. On Unix-based systems I'd "quit" FF by with `pkill -9 -f firefox` (or waterfox). Somehow that worked (e.g. when restarting after an update) despite the obvious loophole it created but it was a welcome way to restart the browser without having to log in. Recently it stopped working though, and I find myself logged off every site I was logged in to, including Google and e.g. Whatsapp's web interface. Extremely annoying now that so many sites use 2FA.

Can you confirm this impression that the loophole has been closed, and security+privacy-related data is now removed at startup (too)?

Is there an way to quit/restart the browser without clearing this data, e.g. after an update or to release build-up RAM usage back to the system, while keeping the default "clear everything"? Is there an option not to lose logins etc. after a crash?

FWIW, the other reason I used this approach is because the open windows+tabs restore tended to be more reliable after a crash than after a normal shutdown (which would often miss a few tabs that I would not always miss at once).

Thanks in advance!

With the latest version of Firefox, I can no longer pay bills through my banking webpage. I can log on to my bank account, but attempts to then switch to "Bill Pay" always fail and I get a message that says I must log in again. If I login a second time, I then get a message saying that I am already logged in. Does anyone have fix for this problem?

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.google.co.in. SSL peer was not expecting a handshake message it received. Error code: SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_UNEXPECTED_ALERT

I receive the above message very frequently. Option already tried is- about:config- security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling = true/false. By toggling true/false very frequently, I can access the website.

Sometimes it works when it is true, sometimes it works when it is false. This happens all the time. how to get rid of it

Hi, I keep getting the Yahoo redirect malware no matter how many times I reset my search settings and remove both Yahoo and "Browser default" search engine back to Google. I have read extensively about this problem, and it seems that the only solution is temporary. Any time I take my laptop to a different location (and thus use a different internet connection), my search settings are undone and the Yahoo redirect function is restored. Please help!! I have tried to run antivirus / anti-spyware software, but my Apple Chip Macbook Air 2020 is incompatible with a lot of existing software. Thanks!

HI, Had to fill in an encrypted form (here in the UK) from a Canadian Bank to finalise setup of a new account. On completion and attempted submission, Firefox wouldn't allow the IP address 192.168.0.1 (I'm using a D-Link USB G4 dongle) to send. It refused because the IP address is not secure. Is this a problem with the dongle (USB hardware, my G4 provider, or something in my computer, provider, or Firefox settings?

Dell 660. Win 10.

It started with 103.0.1. Still going on with 103.0.2. I have it set to clear all history except site data when I close FF. It doesn't do that any more. My equipment isn't the issue because it always worked before 103.0.1.

Also starting with 103.01 and continuing in 103.0.2 - Doesn't auto save changed passwords. Again it always worked fine on this computer before 103.0.1

And of course the "Firefox exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" that I have a separate post on.

hello, is it conceivable to hide particular id's when accessing a site when it is registered in the id/password list ? example: when i access web address https://example.com on firefox browser it rolls down all my accounts on that site. In my example i have 8 accounts on that site. I would like an option in the id/password list section a toggle switch to hide/show in every account registered in that list so that the hidden accounts don't show up in the roll list when i access https://example.com . I hope i'm clear enough, if not don't shy away :-) . Thanks
