I am aware that Firefox has three options for bookmarks: Always Show, Only Show on New Tab, and Never Show.

Either through a setting, an extension, or magic... I want the new tabs to always show the bookmarks BUT I want the other tabs to allow me to toggle showing and hiding the bookmarks (without affecting the new tab at all). How can I achieve this? Is there a deep setting I am missing?

Are there workarounds too? I would settle for a homepage that showed bookmarks (right now I have the option to toggle 'shortcuts', I wish I could also toggle bookmarks there). I'd even settle for an AHK script to force show the bookmarks on new tab (if hidden).

Any help is appreciated!

I'm unable to save bookmarks in most of my folders. I can occasionally get a bookmark saved in one folder, but it will disappear and many folders no matter what I try no bookmark can be saved. I also am unable to export new bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox.

I've tried everything on the 'Can't add, change or save bookmarks - How to fix' page and nothing has worked and it has been incredibly frustrating and I'm not sure where to go from here. Please advise.

I just had a Mozilla/Firefox update. After it was done, Firefox opened. So far so good..... When it opened, the very first thing I noticed is that my bookmarks button was not on my toolbar. The second thing I noticed is that all my bookmarks are gone. GONE!! I use and count on these bookmarks daily, and not they are nowhere to be found.

WHY? This is not the first time that Firefox has had an update and has changed my settings and lost things. Updating is one thing, but there is no reason why Firefox should be changing settings - and now, in this case, wiped my bookmarks clean.

Any help? I'm frustrated and angered that years of bookmarks are gone...... Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Hail all:

Now, Firefox has a very, VERY simple Bookmark Manager, that basically only allows to add, remove, and single-bookmark edit.

Now, I have for instance 6+K Youtube Links, which all, annoyingly, end with " - YouTube". I want to remove that idiocy, but to edit 6+K bookmarks, one by one?

Can you add a way to mass-edit bookmarks?

Also, can you add a "Explorer Tree Style" Bookmark manager, that shows all bookmarks in true Explorer style (As in:

All Bookmarks
--- Bookmarks Toolbar
--------- Folder 1
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
-------------Bookmark 3
------------- ...
-------- Folder 2
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
------------- ...
--- Bookmarks Menu
--------- Folder 1
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
-------------Bookmark 3
------------- ...
-------- Folder 2
------------ SubFolder 1
-----------------Bookmark 1
-----------------Bookmark 2
----------------- ...
------------ SubFolder 2
-----------------Bookmark 1
-----------------Bookmark 2
----------------- ...
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
------------- ...
--- Other Bookmarks
--------- Folder 1
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
-------------Bookmark 3
------------- ...
-------- Folder 2
-------------Bookmark 1
-------------Bookmark 2
------------- ...

(without the "-" 's of course, this was my way to represent the folder and "bookmark file" system in tree form), with an option to see doubles in their respective folder/subfolder, with the normal editing functions? Since ... that would ultimately be darn helpful? Especially when implemented DIRECTLY into Firefox, so no additional tools are needed (add-ons) since these never have what I actually need.

I have a 700+ Bookmarks backup file, which says all. Far too many bookmarks to sift through, manually, without decent tools, thus the need to do it "one at a time".

Thank you very much.

I wanted to add a bookmark and found that the commands for Manage Bookmarks, Bookmark Current Tab, and Bookmark All Tabs were all grayed out. I searched help topics and tried everything I could find:

• I deleted the old xulstore.json file. • I used the Firefox refresh feature. • I found Places Database and tried Verify Integrity. It reported that both databases are sane (I'm attaching a screenshot of the results). • I restarted the computer. • I quit Firefox and got info on the places.sqlite file. It is not locked.

Nothing so far has worked. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,

We use a cloud-based ERP system. To access it, we use a bookmark for users to get to the initial login screen in Firefox. There has been a change in the login screen that will require us to use a different URL. We have about 75 PCs with many having multiple user profiles for Firefox that need the new URL.

I know how to quickly copy and paste the bookmark by remoting into a PC and then doing a copy/paste from the bookmarks toolbar on my PC to the bookmark toolbar on the remote PC.

I could also create a procedure for users to create their own bookmark but I think some users would find that a challenge.

I'd like to make this process more of a silent install but haven't figured out how to manage it.

We're currently all Windows 10 Pro using Firefox v101.0.1 64-bit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

- You updated and took my bookmarks away (something I needed and used all the time. How can you do that? Really? - also every time I go on line I get another stupid sign at the top right telling me to update again. I'm being pestered to do something that screwed me over. - I’ve tried the (old firefox date folder, thing) and it didn’t work. (so please don't suggest that) - I have to go looking for what bookmarks I have left (no more drop-down menu with all of them right there where over the years I've organized them)

I used to like this program, a lot. If I can’t get my Book marks back I’m done with FireFox. What the hell were you thinking?

An automatic update of Firefox which resulted in a "quit/create new profile" choice has removed all my bookmarks

Of the four profiles stored in "about:profile" three are identical (ie. have only the default bookmarks stored) and one, generates a "quit/create new profile" message.

The "bookmarksbackup" folder (in /home/user/.Mozilla/Firefox/zs1jki8t.default) is empty.

The "import/backup" option (in Manage Bookmarks) offers nothing to choose. There is no 'list of dated automatic backups.'

Firefox did not create an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.

Browser privacy "strict". "Never remember history" was selected.

Hello,

Since recently the bookmark dialog has changed its behaviour, and to worse from my perspective. If I don't do anything for about three seconds, the dialog closes and the bookmark is saved to a place where I most likely don't want it to be saved. Is there a way to get rid of the three second time limit? Thanks!

It's not necessary to read further to answer my question. Bellow I'm going to give some criticism and express frustration about this new feature (or is it a bug?). The criticism is not directed towards the nice people here who give support to users who have problems.

I understand that developers get new ideas and want to put them into practice, but if you change an often used behaviour like this, I don't think it's user friendly to just change the behaviour without asking the user if he want's that behaviour. Personally I don't see how the automatically disappearing dialog helps me (it's very easy to click Esc if I change my mind about bookmarking a page), but I keep experiencing how it makes my browsing experience worse, as I often pause for a moment for example to think what name I'm going to give for the bookmark, or where am I going to place it.

In practice this change has wasted at least an hour of my time (to find an explanation and (in vain) a solution to fix the behaviour), made me annoyed, and based on the comments here and other places, made quite a few other people annoyed too.

Please, when you change the behaviour of Firefox in the future, before changing the behaviour for an individual user, ask him first if he even wants the change. For example show him a dialog where he is told that "we have this new feature where your familiar dialog keeps disappearing every three seconds for no reason so that you get the pleasure of invoking it again...and again...and again. If you want to have that feature, check the box on the left".
