I am on Version 117.0.1 which was installed on September 12th for me. I did not notice any issues prior.

I am on a macbook air which is updated to latest software.

I have tried the following:

Running it in troubleshoot mode. It did not fix the issue.

Turning on/off autoplay. It didn't work.

Clearing cookies/cache. Nothing.

Started firefox without a theme. Didn't do anything.

I unchecked "Use hardware acceleration when available." which did nothing.

Sites I have tried watching videos on include:

pornhub/other porn sites (for testing purposes...)

hello. I have a reproducable issue with Firefox. If I use the touch keyboard on Firefox and then exit Firefox without without closing the touch keyboard, when I next start Firefox it only opens with a half view. if I close the touch keyboard first and then exit Firefox it opens as normal in a full screen view. it has nothing to do with either an extension or a theme. is there any way of ensuring that FF opens in full screen view if I forget to close the touch keyboard before exiting the browser? thanks in advance. PS: device is a Surface Pro 7 running Windows 11.

So, here's the story:

My browser crashed while watching a video and writing a particularly lengthy YouTube comment on it. Knowing that I have been able to recover in-progress Reddit comments after a crash from the sessionstore-backups so long as I was on the page at the time of the crash, I know that at least one site saves all in-progress comments to that, and I highly suspect that is where in-progress Wikipedia edits are kept, I (wanting as much data as possible for as good of a recovery chance as possible) immediately copied all my Profile files, totalling more than 1.6 GB, to a non-volatile folder.

As I had done before, I took the most recent sessionstore-backups file (dated to the exact minute of the crash), forced it through the Session History Scrounger to decompress it, and then mass-replaced the document's \ns with proper newlines in Notepad++, which used to make the file more readable.

This time, it didn't. They must have changed the json newline formatting used between at least late April and now. And more importantly, when I searched through the file for keywords I used in the comment, I couldn't find it. Simply, it appears that in-progress YouTube comments aren't stored in that file.

So, where are they stored? Are they in any vaguely human-readable file (or file that can with some ease be converted into something vaguely human-readable)? Can I somehow revive a "zombie session" using just archived Profile folder data to copy it out of? Or should I just give up and rewrite the comment from scratch?

NOTE 1: This is adapted from a previous post made with an associated account on Reddit. As I fear using Firefox until I get this problem resolved due to the possible loss in ability to recover other data if I do so, I figure that giving the problem more attention here would be beneficial in resolving it more quickly.

NOTE 2: Also, to clarify, I don't need to restore the session and have the comment re-appear; I'd be fine with locating it in a text editor or similar program so I could copy it back into the submission box once the session is restored.

Firefox worked fine until the latest update 115.3esr, at time it slows to a crawl... I am now sick and tired of Mozilla and Firefox, they are about to get the boot - my style, I've used them since about version 2.

Looking in the task manager Mozilla makes it look a disgrace, at time it's hard to get a fix on some entry's because they bounce up and down.

Firefox.exe 45,24K Firefox.exe 3,16K Firefox.exe 27,484K Firefox.exe 7,392K Firefox.exe 7,344K Firefox.exe 15,735K Firefox.exe 7,320K Firefox.exe 169,932K, I round it off to about 250MB

Does these look about right? Why can't they just have one .exe? (Win 7 Pro x64)

Thanks Dave

I download and install the .dmg for the new update, but I still get this error message whenever I launch Firefox. I used to be able to have updates installed automatically without requiring to manually download each Firefox version. Could someone please assist? Details below:

I am having the same issue as in these questions/bugreports, but with version 102.15.1 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1285436 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1278453 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1638675

I tried to downgrade to 82.0.3 (this version is mentioned in bug report 1638675) and it works well.

I am using the following webpages with animation for the performance test: 1) http://www.java2s.com/example/javascript-book/testing-browser-animation-performance.html 2) http://www.java2s.com/example/javascript-book/testing-browser-animation-performance-demo-d2dff.htm

Here is what I know so far... - '--safe-mode' or 'layers.gpu-process.enabled' do not make any difference; - the second webpage gives better performance (comparable to 82.0.3), so the issue can be related to the text+animation combination; - even if I scroll the first webpage to move the animation out of view, the performance is still bad; - looks like it depends on window size (1st webpage)

I am running Firefox 118.0.1 for ARM MacOS, and every site I visit does not work. Instead, I get an "Unable to connect" message, and Firefox is reporting it failed to check for updates. As Firefox worked before running "brew install stats", I suspect that has something to do with it, but I have tried turning my firewall to automatically allow built-in software to receive internet connections, and even tried quitting Firefox. I strongly suspect it is the Stats brew I installed, as browsers normally don't break a week after an update was installed, but quitting Stats doesn't help.

Dear Mozilla Firefox Support Team,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns and seek assistance with some persistent performance issues I have been experiencing while using Mozilla Firefox.

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a significant decline in the performance of Mozilla Firefox, specifically in terms of webpage loading times and the functionality of multimedia content, such as videos. Many websites that used to load quickly now take an unusually long time to open, and, in some cases, they do not load at all. Additionally, when attempting to stream videos, I encounter frequent buffering and playback issues, which have not been a problem when using alternative web browsers.

I have been a loyal user of Mozilla Firefox for many years and greatly appreciate the browser's commitment to privacy and security. However, the recent performance issues I have encountered are affecting my productivity and overall browsing experience. I have attempted to troubleshoot these issues on my own by clearing my browser cache, disabling extensions, and updating Firefox to the latest version. Despite these efforts, the problems persist.

I am writing to request your assistance in resolving these issues and restoring the smooth and efficient performance of Mozilla Firefox on my system. I rely on this browser for various online activities, including work-related tasks and research, and the current situation is hindering my ability to do so effectively.

To help diagnose and address these problems, I have included some relevant information about my system below:

   Operating System: Windows 11
   Mozilla Firefox Version: Latest
Internet Connection: 50mbps of fiber optic connection

I kindly request that your support team investigate the issues I have described and provide guidance on how to resolve them. If any additional information or diagnostics are needed from my end, please do not hesitate to let me know, and I will gladly cooperate in any way possible.

I value Mozilla Firefox as a browser and hope to continue using it as my preferred choice. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to this letter at your earliest convenience, either by email or through any other preferred method of communication.

Thank you for your time and assistance in addressing these performance issues. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of the problems I am encountering.

Recently I contacted Apple with the unusual issue of not being able to use the "backspace" key in the iCloud Calendar. If I open iCloud for browser and use other Apple iCloud features such as Reminders, then the backspace key works fine. If I open iCloud Calendar then I can no longer use the backspace key.

Here is what we know:

  • I've already opened iCloud in other browsers including Google Chrome, Duck Duck Go, and Edge, and the problem does not exist. It is unique to Firefox.
  • Apple has had a number of users contact them with the same issue and it's beyond the control of Apple.
  • The issue is unique to Firefox running the iCloud for browser interface, specifically for Calendar
  • The delete key works fine if I move the cursor to the left of the text to be removed. It's only the backspace button

When we can see a software patch to resolve this issue?

I am a developer of AIO Tests, its a test management app that runs inside Jira.

We have been encountering a problem with input tags in our app when running on Firefox for some time now, has even been reported by a few customers now.

When we click on a link for our app, and it opens in a new tab, the users are unable to click or type inside the input area unless they do any of the following:

  • Bulleted list item Go to a different tab and come back
  • Bulleted list item Open the developer options and then click on the input bar again
  • Bulleted list item Lose focus of firefox app itself, and come back.

At which point the problem fixes itself.

We have been able to consistently reproduce this problem, this is a firefox only issue, we tested in Chrome and Safari, but unable to recreate it over there.

Is this a known issue? Is there any known fix for this that we can implement from our end?

So I've been using PIA for years (it's the only VPN I can find that has simple port forwarding and split tunnel/reverse split tunnel) and once they switched over to their app's 3.0 version, (like 3 or so years ago, I switched to Mullvad previously until they removed port forwarding recently) I noticed some extreme slowdowns. Specifically, just searching things takes 5-10 seconds to fully load the page. Opening a YouTube video has me sitting there for 15-60 seconds just watching the loading thing just spin and spin (once the video starts, I can load 4K60fps+ video perfectly fine), I can't even consistently access my bank account website because it's so incredibly slow. Most general websites take 10+ seconds to just load when they normally wouldn't. My internet is 400 down/10 up, in case you were wondering.

I've contacted PIA's support over the course of many many months, multiple times, and they are about as helpful as a cockroach you find upside down in the middle of your floor. I've tried messing with every setting on the app and have narrowed it down to the split tunnel feature of the app. Telling this to PIA support does nothing, they just go "glad you found what the issue is" without helping me fix it. I don't want my entire computer under the VPN, which is why split tunnel (and reverse split tunnel) is important to me. I specifically have Firefox (and Firefox Dev) as set to bypass the VPN, and that's how I get the aforementioned issues.

The reason I feel like this is a Firefox-specific issue is that this only happens with Firefox. (and Firefox Dev) I've tried Chrome, Edge, even (shudder) Opera GX, put them as bypass on the PIA app, and have no issues loading anything. Searches are instant, YT videos don't even load, they just start playing immediately, there are no issues.

Note that when I set Firefox to use the VPN instead of bypass it, it loads perfectly fine, just a bit slower than normal since the VPN server is in a different country, but it's still much faster than if it was bypassing it. I'm not sure what else to try at this point, I've been slowly using Chrome more and more solely so I don't have to wait so long for every web page to load, and I hate that. I would love for any ideas to be bounced around on what to do, cause I can't find anyone else with this specific issue, nor PIA support being any help. Any ideas would be greatly, greatly appreciated, I've been dealing with this issue for years now.
