Power went off yesterday for 30 seconds. Firefox no longer works in safe mode or any other mode. Spent last 3 hours trying every solution I could find to no avail.

Practically every solution offered by Mozilla tells you how to use the software itself to reset it. FIREFOX WON'T START !!! I can't click ABOUT:anything to see what is going on. I can't start safe mode - NOTHING.

Thousands of posts going back 7 years - SEVEN YEARS - show Mozilla has utterly failed to address this issue or even offer a solution when it happens.

At this point I am just trying to get back several hundred bookmarks stored there. How do I do that?

hi, whoever reads this. I've noticed a problem recently in some websites where certain elements (e.g. logos and icons) completely disappear and get replaced by strings of text, which I'm assuming is the code that is used to create them. Usually, it's just one icon, typically a search or menu icon, but there have been more drastic cases, such as the screenshot of the Encyclopaedia Britannica website that I attached. Notice that many buttons, while still functional, are covered with strange text. One thing I'm suspecting is that I intentionally or inadvertently disabled an element (or something of that sort, sorry for my ignorance in the specificities) ages ago that was supposed to make these work, but I don't remember what I disabled, if I ever did. But other than that, I have no clue what causes this. In Tor, where I don't have an account and never interfered with the setup or settings, everything seems to work just fine; the buttons are right there. Hope someone can be of help.

Every time I close Firefox windows, I'm logged out of all websites I had been logged in to. This doesn't happen automatically at a certain point in time, it only happens when I close all windows. I already tried the about:config thing that was in the solution for another person who had a similar problem, but it didn't work. This has been going on for about a month or two now.

After the latest update, the PDF Preview function has broken. The screenshot attached shows the new view I get after the update. I cannot resize the preview window using the corner visual control thingy (that's a technical term).

This worked as of 2021-03-27 and upon restarting my machine today 2021-03-28 a new version of Firefox was installed and now this error has occurred.

Is there a way to roll back the version until this bug is fixed? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issue?

Things I have tried: Restarting the browser and computer clearing cache and history I have not disabled extensions, but the only extensions I use are Ublock Origin, and a couple other high profile extensions that should work with any progressive update.

Thanks,

Daniel

So I've been experiencing a rather annoying bug/issue, and I have a work around for it, but I would love if anyone could help me figure out the issue at hand. I couldn't find a relevant, up to date solution for this issue.

Basically, certain websites (the most notable being Reddit) will eventually no longer load. In fact, it won't even try to load. I will click a link from a Google search, or even just type in the URL for Reddit directly, and Firefox just does nothing. No error, no loading, nothing. The tab will stay blank with the URL listed as the name of the tab. I can't seem to tell if other browsers have this issue as it requires a bit of use/time to pass, but it doesn't seem to be an issue in Explorer. It isn't JUST Reddit, but it's only a couple of sites that this occurs on.

I do have a workaround --- if I tell Firefox to "Forget This Website" - suddenly it will work again. I will be logged out and see the default page due to having deleted all saved dated - but the site will work (for maybe a day) before I have to forget it again.

If this was a once a month type issue it wouldn't be a big deal, but the fact that I have to constantly re-do my local settings because of this is frustrating.

I am running Windows 10 and my Firefox version is 85.0 (64-bit). I have tried disabling any add-ons such as my AdBlocker, however that does not fix the issue.

Firefox fails to recognize my GPU's and uses my integrated GPU rather than my dedicated GPU. I'm using Kali Linux (usually alike Debian Sid on repository grounds), I'm invoking it using DRI_PRIME=1 environment variable because that's where my Radeon RX560 is but firefox opens with this warning on terminal:

[GFX1-]: More than 1 GPU from same vendor detected via PCI, cannot deduce device.

I've even tried nightly but it doesn't recognize the dedicated GPU either, my other GPU is a Radeon Vega 8. All other other programs on the system and even Chrome recognize my RX560. Using DRI_PRIME=4 (that's where my Vega 8 is located) launches the browser with the same warning and again uses the integrated GPU, I know which one is using because radeontop shows memory usage only on the integrated GPU.

I don't know if this isn't the right place to post this, if you know a better place please tell me. Thank you in advance.

Every excel document I open via Sharepoint on my firefox browser, crashes/freezes, making me unable to work in and I have to force close that tab, as even reloading does not fix the issue. This happens so fast, that when opening an excel via link, I don't even have time to choose the option 'Open in App'. I have already 'cleaned' my firefox, but the issue has not disappeared.

Ok so recently I made a post about the issue of Firefox crashing and having to reinstall it, then kind of fixing it by moving my old profile into this one. Thing is, Firefox crashed on me. Again. And now my profile is yet again, deleted. I tried doing the same thing I did but it didn't work. But there's actually two Firefox folders, one that refuses to leave my desktop (I was actually planning on asking for help on this one) and one that I put in the Application Support place. None of it is working though. It could just be because my computer has some issues though, (it's an old one, 2-4 years old and the sides are a bit damaged because somebody forced it into a tiny box and sent it back and I've also dropped it a few times, although I don't think that would impact it, and also Firefox crashes every so often when I open my bookmarks) this isn't the first time Firefox has crashed, only the first time it crashed and erased my profile. If it helps, I was clicking on my add-ons to get a tomato timer to go (after reinstalling it because some of my add-ons didn't work) and then it crashed, with the twirly rainbow circle. I force quit the app and came back. Voila. If anybody has any help, please do. I have work to do and I don't fancy doing it with this hanging over my head.

Starting on Sunday 3/21, pasting an image into a gmail message in Windows 10 from Firefox 86.0.1 double pastes it. Two images, not one. Pasting text results in a single paste, as would be expected. What's wrong with image pasting?

Appears to only happen in Firefox. Tried with Edge and composition worked fine.

I found that high-lighting an Image -- (NOTE: "jpg" -- ====> NOT ".png") and then COPY, followed by a PASTE into Gmail produces the correct ONE image.-

However, if the Image is ".png", and I move cursor OVER the Image, then Right-Click, select COPY Image and then go to Gmail and issue either a CTRL+V or PASTE, I get 2 images.

I posted this earlier today and can't seem to get back to where it is shown. The above code is what I woke up to on Firefox. Subsequently, I reinstalled a second edition of the browser and it works fine with the exception that I can't install Dashlane on the second version. When I attempt to install Dashlane, the previous version of Firefox opens and wants to install Dashlane itself which, of course, is useless as that version is where I get "Error code: SEC_ERROR_BAD_SIGNATURE" continuously. My question is, how do I get rid of the offending version of the browser?

My Firefox installation on Ubuntu 20.04 does not load or render any page, nothing happens when I enter an address.

I have already rebooted multiple times, purged Firefox through aptitude, deleted all files related to Firefox (profiles, the complete .mozilla folder in home, everything else) and reinstalled as suggested in various support platforms. I have started Firefox in safe mode as well.

As far as I can tell the problem started after I used "another" Firefox through my universities Citrix service to be able to access their library catalogue. I had to symbolically link all of the files in the Firefox certificate folder to that of the Citrix client for that client to work, although I've since removed those links as well and it did nothing.

I am really pulling my hairs over this as Firefox is heavily integrated in my workflow and I don't want to switch to Chrome but I also don't want to completely reinstall my laptop as that would mean completely setting up my work environment again too.

I reformatted my laptop and reinstalled Firefox, and now certain parts of webpages are not showing up. For instance, on answers.microsoft.com, I cannot see "reply" boxes so I can't post anything. on homedepot.com, I can't see the tool that tells you the location of each product and allows you to text it to your phone. The webpages look "normal" except that the missing content is just... missing. I'm wondering if content is being blocked on other websites, too.

The websites appear correctly if I clear cookies and site data from Firefox, but not if I just clear the cache. The issue appears in "safe mode" also. It doesn't matter how many times I restart my computer-- the issue is still there. I have as much of Windows Firewall blocked as I am able to. I have uninstalled my ad blocker extension. The website page style is "Basic page style."

This is so frustrating. Please help.

Hello, i have read others have similar problems, but not the same one and the offered solutions do not work for me. My problem is that as of today after the strangest crash/malfunction of the browser i cannot copy address from the address bar and paste them. Or better it seems like i am copying them or even cut them, but when i try to paste them it does not work. I've already reset firefox, and at the beginning it seemed to work again but after a few opened tabs i have the same problem again. I am at my wit's end and i have no idea to solve this problem that makes using the browser very difficult. Does anyone know what i can try to do to solve this? thanks

Hi, my firefox has been basically closing itself immediatally after I open it. When I restarted my computer, it finally showed me a message. It said that I could either go into safe mode and trouble shoot or refresh my firefox, deleting everything. So, I first went with going into safe mode, and as soon as the firefox safe mode tab opened, it closed itself again! So, I went to refresh because that was the only other option, and even after I refreshed, the firefox browser still closed itself. I scanned my computer for malware or viruses using two seperate malware detection programs, (Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for windows, and I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware). I have tried using google, however I am having the same exact problem with google as well! Please, someone help, I need this to log into my live sessions at my cyber school. I wish I could add images but the tab always blinks away after a second, and I'm not fast enough to get a picture of it.

We have noticed that since Firefox 87 was released, audio recordings made in the browser are being cut off. After recording for up to 3 minutes, the recorded preview of the file seems to be cut off. A 3 minute recording would yield a 39 second preview, whereas a 1.5 minute recording yielded a 15 second preview. The file it seems is only recording a much smaller segment of audio from what is intended.

Is there a known bug recorded for this problem?

Thanks, Josh Wild

My online banking access used to work perfectly but does not worked any more. In the login process, it simply does not go any further without any error message. The laptop is the same as before. The only thing that has changed are updates to Firefox version 87.0 and Ubuntu version 18.04.5 LTS. On another laptop, the bank access still worked perfectly. I have tried to switch off all restrictions in the Firefox settings and to deactivate all add-ons, unfortunately without success. The bank couldn't solve the problem either, they just said it was probably due to the browser settings. Do you have any ideas? Thank you! Wolfgang

Since Windows Insider build 21318 (we need Insiders build for some WSL features), after a few minutes of usage characters start to disappear from the application : pages, menus, etc. Only Firefox triggers this behavior, but once it has started it propagates to other Windows apps. The only solution is to quit Firefox and any affected app and relaunch. Firefox is pretty much unusable at this point.

This bug is very much alike the one reported here : https://support.mozilla.org/fr/questions/1313520

Restarting in safe mode doesn't change behavior : not related to hardware acceleration or add-ons.

Tested with Firefox v87.0 and Nightly. I also checked the described behavior also happens on co-workers computers same model/same configuration (this is on a Dell laptop Precision 7550 with an NVidia Quadro RTX4000).
