Hi. I keep several Firefox tabs open and active on my laptop. Inevitably, Firefox slows down after a week or several weeks and would benefit from a Quit / Restart. But then (I think) I would lose my tabs, which would mean a trip to the library to login and get them back. If I do nothing, a superslow Firefox will usually mean my laptop eventually restarts on its own. Then when I open Firefox I see a "Restore Session" option, which brings everything back (I think I see Restore Session because the computer did its own shutdown). So, this does work, but I have a slow computer until the laptop does its own restart. I am wondering if I can initiate my own Firefox Quit / Restart which will give me the "Restore Session" option. Ever since I installed Firefox 123.0, when I execute a search on Yahoo.com, Firefox automatically opens up a new window or tab (depending upon how you have it set up in settings) when it didn't before. When I try this with Firefox using Google.com to search, it does NOT open up a new window/tab. But when I try it with Yahoo.com when using Google Chrome, it does NOT open up a new tab. So it would appear that the behavior is being caused by something in Firefox.

I tried making various changes in settings and Firefox about:config that were recommended in previous questions here, but they did not alter the behavior. I would like the behavior to return to simply performing the search within the same window (I can always scroll back to get the original page). Can anyone help?

I'm getting the error message "No video with supported format and MIME type found" with mp3 files at https://www.gatherthepeople.org/test/styled-7/page-3/ when using Firefox 123.0 on my M1 (ARM) iMac running OS 14.3.1; when using Firefox 123.0 on my M1 (ARM) MacBook Air running OS 14.3.1; when using Firefox 123.0 on Win 11;and when using Firefox 115.8 on my Intel MacBook Pro running OS 10.14.6.

The same mp3 files (https://www.gatherthepeople.org/test/styled-7/page-3) play without any problem with Chrome and Safari on the Mac and with Edge on Win 11 .

Hi jscher2000, I want to thank you for your advice concerning a problem I had downloading Firefox to my Windows 10 laptop. I tried to follow your advice but was not successful. In the end, I googled "what if Firefox doesn't install". It took me to a website, https://www.makeuseof.com/fix-firefox-not-installing-windows , which took me to an article entitled "8 Fixes to Try if Firefox Won't Install on Windows". I tried #1 and #2 without success. #3, Temporarily Disable Your Antivirus Software, worked. Firefox is up and running. Feel free to share this with anyone who has a similar problem. My old device has broken and I was wondering if there's any way to transfer the open tabs from it to my new device?

I've signed in to my account already and it ported over my history as well as bookmarks but I don't see a way to port over the open tabs? I'm not sure if they were synced and I can't go back to sync them now as the previous device is broken

There is this new pop up coming on latest firefox version 123 about opening favorite link on firefox, I want to get rid of it programmatically using java, which argument or preference should I use ?

For years had bookmarks in folders showing on Bookmark Toolbar. Today they are all gone. Still in my Bookmarks on the drop down Menu, but not appearing on the Toolbar. Please help. Can't seem to drop and drag them there. Also, the Bookmarks Toolbar keeps disappearing every time I go to look at a new tab.

So I am watching a video for a class and that video player has its own closed captioning and when I am watching the video there is a different closed captioning appearing over the video even though it is not the one from the video player. I attached an image of what I see.

Hello – How to recover Google Search results without every result being an image, without blocking every image either.

I want the old style, where an image from Wikipedia was shown when available, and occasionally others. Whatever algorithm(s) were used before the 123 update are what I want, preferably without reverting to Firefox 122.

Every result an image is wasting so much of my time that I've resorted to searching in Opera (which means at least 80% of my internet time).

Cursory examination of Firefox settings offered no relief.

Amazon search has disappeared from browser and not included in list of search engines. I want amazon.uk not U.S. and I do not know where about:config is.

Before updating Firefox to 123.0.1 (64-bit) + MacOS Sonoma, I could use FIDO2 on OnlyKey and login to my proton mail. Now, however something has changed on Firefox that I get presented with two prompts to touch my usb key, but the key itself doesn't respond to the second prompt and login fails.

I first get this prompt as before. I select 'Authenticate' and would be presented with the second picture. Since my key is not expecting to be touched, nothing happens when I touch it and login fails with the message displayed in the last picture.

It's not a website breakage since I can use Edge. Since the last update Xcel Energy cannot be accessed with Firefox because of a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR.

Just recently been getting yahoo search engine results to open in new tabs rather than the same tab. I have searched for other users that have the same problem and have done the tracking protection thing and deleted cookies, but nothing helped. Also tried Troubleshooting Mode and it still persists. Any other ideas that may help? I'd appreciate it.

Starting recently the firefox popups for website notifications are stealing focus and disturbing my workflow. I'm using i3 window manager and normally popups would have some id or class that can be used to latch on and prevent the focus stealing but the windows created now do not have any such marker.
