Hello, I manage a healthcare education website (https://thelabon.com/contact-us/) and I'm focused on optimizing privacy and performance for users accessing our medical content through Firefox. Currently I have not embedded it yet I am using only an image of the map instead. What are the recommended Firefox settings, extensions, or practices to ensure user privacy, especially when embedding external tools like Google Maps or analytics services? Any guidance would be appreciated!

I recently ported from chrome to firefox about 3 days ago and was tryin to access the dropdown menus on this website https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/government-id/bc-services-card/your-card/get-a-card

I realized it wasn't working so I turned off my adblocker (ublock origin), refreshed the site and still not working.

Also attempted to use troubleshoot mode and still does not work.

Cleared cache + cookies and used troubleshoot mode and nothing working still.

I lastly checked the website was working by opening the same link on chrome after all that and it works perfectly fine over there. Any ideas what could possibly be the issue?? I basically have a fresh install of firefox with no changed settings besides anything that might of been copied over from Chrome when firefox automatically asks you to migrate your stuff over, and used the troubleshoot mode + clearing cookies and cache

I like Firefox - it's been my default browser for a long time. But I am getting REALLY tired of websites not working with Firefox but working with Chrome (which I hate) and now DuckDuckGo. Specifically, federal government websites like Social Security, Id.Me, and I.R.S DONT WORK WITH FIREFOX!!! Also California DMV. Now I'm even having problems with commercial sites like Outdoorsy.com! I shouldn't have to switch but I'm getting real close to just abandoning Firefox. I will also add that the number of times I have to download a new version, then delete my session, let it load, and then use history to restore previous session is also VERY ANNOYING!!!

I have a profile that causes odd behavior, within the profile, and to the OS.

Regarding the profile itself:

1. I use Multiple Tab Handler, which should allow me to move tabs on the tab bar with the mouse, but it does not (see image of proper behavior)

2. Normally, i can drag this padlock button to the desktop to create a shortcut. but now, it will not move/drag (see image 2)

3. I also have a backup profile from several months ago that has none of the above symptoms. However, If I substitute it's sessionstore.jsonlz4 file with the the one from the problematic profile, all the bad behavior mentioned above re-emerges.

I know this sounds strange, but, I also get external display issues when using the broken profile. These events are random, and manifest themselves differently, so I can't duplicate them. Essentially, these snips are examples of images from the taskbar tabs, or the clock area, suddenly superimposing themselves on the top portions of the taskbar toolbar area.

This is the view of my clock area (see next image 3)

In the following image, imagine that the portion on the left, that opens the start menu, is now hidden under what looks exactly like the clock area on the right, superimposed over it (see next image 4)

Those aberrations are removed by simply moving the mouse cursor over them, but they will continue to occur in any number of variations over any area of that top toolbar.

Is there a Session Manager that will save the session, to be later restored into that previous profile, but not also pass along the corruption?

What the title says. Firefox just isn't playing any sound whatsoever.

Troubleshooting:

  • Volume mixer indicates that Firefox is using my speakers, along with all other apps. When playing a YouTube video, the green bar is not bouncing. However, all other programs that play sound do so successfully and their green bars are bouncing (see attachment).
  • Other web browsers play sound successfully.
  • Restarting Firefox and my computer did not help.
  • Switching the default sound device and changing back did not help.
  • Changing to headphones made no change.
  • Tabs are not muted.
  • Autoplay settings in about:preferences showed that audio and video were disabled, however changing this setting to allow video and audio, then restarting both Firefox and the computer did not fix the problem. I have no idea how that setting was even changed to begin with. O_o
  • Started Firefox in troubleshooting mode; still no sound.
  • Started Firefox in a different profile; still no sound.
  • Started Firefox in private mode; still no sound.
  • Tried ending the audiodg.exe process in task manager and restarted; still no sound.
  • Double checked media.autoplay.blocking_policy, was set to 0.
  • Double checked media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground -- changed from true to false, restarted Firefox; still no sound.
  • Disabled hardware acceleration; still no sound.
  • Refreshed Firefox; still no sound.
  • Complete uninstall, including the usage of BCUninstaller to uninstall "leftovers". Reinstalled. Still no sound.

I have Apollo installed on my computer and I've reached out to them before for similar issues, but the dev was insistent that Apollo does not cause sound issues. I'm somewhat sceptical, but they're not being helpful at all so I thought I'd ask here, and disclose usage of Apollo so that all bases are covered.

Thank you for your time.

I travel to two different locations a few times a year. I use the same basic "computer" for each one, though they're far apart. It works through a "sneaker network," where data files, profiles, etc, are copied to a portable hard drive and then copied to the next computer, so they're fairly identical.

The problem is that this last time (and I've been doing this for perhaps about 3 years), Firefox has refused to do anything online. I can use it offline, but not online. The "work online" is unchecked, so it should be online. But it refuses to do anything.

After several Firefox reboots, windows reboots, checking everything, Firefox still does nothing.

Currently I'm using Waterfox and Edge. Both work fine. Thunderbird works fine.

I've had this problem since Tuesday night. So about 48 hours now, and nothing at all.

The way I transfer from one computer to another without losing email or current Firefox status is to copy the newest profile over, delete the old, and then copy the current program, as well.

Thus, the program is up to date, as is the profile, but all I get when I type in any address is that dot thing at the top, going side to side.

Thank you in advance.

This file has 0 bytes and it had random letters/numbers dot HTM I "opened" the file in browser but it opened to a dead/unable to load page that was titled in the format of Computer Name>Downloads>NameOfFile or something like that.

I've ran anti virus/ malware bytes, windows defender but I don't feel safe.

What is this file and why did it download?

I'm on firefox 10 with Privacy Badger but not enabled.

Any help would be appreciated. I get paranoid of viruses/malware and what does this mean for tracking/did someone download files on my computer etc

Hi there I am using Firefox version 140.0.4 (64 bit) have recently started to backup my profile on my Windows 10 PC using a small batch file and Winzip. However I have noticed that some, probably four, of the files within the profile folder are not backing up and Winzip says it could not open them for reading. I believe that the profile is stored at C:\Users\Phil\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.* and this path is included in the BACKUP.LST for Winzip. Omitting this line from the BACKUP.LST gives no errors so I am convinced it is a Firefox problem. I have also noticed that after a clean, hard boot one of my housekeeping programs, SuperAntispyware, thinks that a browser is open and wants to close it before running. I always backup immediately after a clean, hard boot so nothing should be open on the PC except the batch file and Winzip. I do not have Firefox in my list of Startup files. It seems to me that some of the Firefox profile files are somehow opened immediately after booting and I'm wondering if there is a setting that I've missed which will cause this. In the general settings for Firefox, the option to "Open Firefox automatically when your computer starts up" is unchecked. Incidentally, I have also run the daily backup under WinRAR and get a similar error message. Any comments / suggestions will be gratefully received. Regards and TIA Phil
