I spent 11 hours this past Tuesday trying to fix the new Firefox 57. As there is a hesitation when scrolling and typing. And the hesitation also happens when clicking on something. ..... From what I have read here Im not the only one this is happening to.

What a Bummer. so tonight I went back to Firefox 56.0.2 and that works fine. I hope Mozilla finds a Fix for this problem and soon.
Thanks for letting me vent. Yours Bob Dalton.

I upgraded to the new Firefox Quantum a few days ago and it is extremely slow. The previous version was brilliant and I never had any problems with slowness. It is slow opening a new Tab, slow going back to the previous page, slow just opening a page at all & sometimes doesn't load the page properly so I have to reload only to have the same problem with it not loading properly: I am talking like sometimes more than 10 minutes. Occasionally, it will work fine but most of the time, it is just painful! And with Quantum obviously trying to do "whatever it is" to load a page, it is slowing my system down to a crawl. I have had to use Google Chrome in the interim and it is fast and not having any problems. it is not our Internet speed as everything else is fine. I am using Windows 7 Professional. How do I roll back to the old Firefox in the interim until this issue can be sorted out. Thank you for your time.

Sometimes the icon for Firefox in the dock turns into a light blue rectangle box with a thin white border around it and a capital "A" that is made from a pencil, paintbrush and ruler.

Sometimes in the past, it has helped to remove that icon from the dock and then start up Firefox again and then say "keep in the dock" and then the usual Firefox icon appears again and sticks, but that didn't work this time.

It's harder to identify Firefox if it doesn't have the usual little orange fox icon.

I have a Mac Mini (late 2014) running 10.13.1 High Sierra. This problem just recently reappeared, but not immediately after installing High Sierra.

I have searched around and can't find a solution for this.

I'm attempting to upload a screenshot of my mouse cursor pointing at Firefox in the dock and the generic icon.

I did read about disabling my add-ons to improve the speed, but I didn't do that since I only have a couple. I use SQLite Manager a lot, I guess the Amazon one can go, but that isn't really the point.

This faster, newer, better Firefox is supposed to be amazing, but for me it is not.

I have reverted back to 56.0.2 and disabled automatic updates, now I'm back to working again.

Firefox 57 64bit: Gpu acceleration issue on Youtube with AMD RX 570 driver 17.11.1 WHQL

Installed Firefox 57.0 Quantum 64 bit stable channel on Windows 10 1709 (16299.64) on a Ryzen 7 1700 cpu with Amd Radeon Rx 570 card on a fresh gpu driver installation: WHQL version 17.11.1 While watching videos on Youtube Firefox uses lots of gpu power: GPU clock goes up to 1200mhz while it should be 300mhz clock during full HD video decoding. This abnormal GPU usage makes the machine power hungry increasing 25-30 watt consumption while watching videos on Youtube. Watching other video streaming services like Primevideo from Amazon causes no issue at all: full hd videos are played using GPU clocked @300mhz, normal power usage, normal gpu acceleration.

Please not that Windows 10 fall Creators Update shows low GPU usage in task manager while having issues and a quite high cpu spike (25%) during the first 10 seconds of Youtube video. I'm also experiencing video caching issues in the first streaming seconds never experienced before: I'm quite sure it isn't a network problem due to the fact that I've got no caching issues on the same sources using Edge on the same machine/network connection.

This issue is restricted to Firefox. Opening Edge on the same machine with the same scenario produces no issue at all.

Reverting back to Firefox 56.0.2 fixes the issue on Youtube (having minor glitches on random black flashing screen during the Youtube playback....again just on Youtube only and never on PrimeVideo)

GPU clock speed revealed using GPU card vendor software.

I'm using the default video codec for HTML5: OpenH264 version 1.7.1. Open to any kind of test you may need on my side

Since I upgraded my Firefox version to 57 yesterday, the Windows window doesn't display correctly: The menu and tab bars appear completely black font on black background; I can't drag the window; The maximized window doesn't appear on the correct position and sometimes the Windows task bar disappear. I have already tried to reinstall and refresh Firefox, but it didn't change anything. The only that helped was installing the previous version 56. I don't think it is a problem of my Windows version since every other application doesn't have the same problem.
