Good People, Followed screen pop-up to make Firefox default browser. Now all *.pdf files have Firefox icons and open as .html pages, I think! Seen some solutions, but for older versions of windows and followed procedure: go to Adobe, Edit, Preferences, General, 'Select Default PDF Handler', as dialog Does not have Adobe Reader XI, step two was Change to Adobe Reader DC, clicked continue, but NO Windows Configuration Screen appears. Using Version 94.0.2 (64bit) with Windows 10. Also, help answer said not necessarily a Firefox problem, also within Adobe Reader. Not comfortable with changes to be made in the registry. James

"Homepage and new windows" setting allows "Custom URLs" as an option. "New tabs" setting allows only "Firefox home page (default)" or "Blank page"

Why is there no longer an option in "New tabs" for a "Custom URL" ??

Is this just another of those program designers' decisions of a less-is-more "improvement" . . . ? Well, it's not.

How can I return to having my Homepage URL also designated for new tabs?

Thank you.

Hey guys.

My question is very simple: how can I hide the Firefox 94 address bar on any screen size, including full screen?

I have been searching the internet for an answer, even in previous versions, the answers and suggestions were never clear. Including nonsense add-ons.

Is there any placement of moz://a? Does anyone have a tip that might actually work?

Thank you very much.

hello,

I want to use Firefox fullscreen on macOS, but when I press Esc button on keyboard accidentally Firefox escapes from fullscreen. And, I do press Esc by mistake a lot, because of a hand habit! Is there a way to aviod this? This is a very bad shortcut for closing the fullscreen! Other browsers has combinations to avoid such accidents!

If there's not way to change this I believe Firefox developers should make it a combination! This looks like a very simple design mistake!

What is the way to turn off the daily firefox update popup nag on MacOS? I've noticed Mozilla is heavy handed at shoving updates down your throat that break things but always come up short on communicating what changes were made. The last update broke printing and now it takes 2 minutes for timeout to occur every time I want to print a page. So I know there is a large community of users who want to turn off update nags, suppose every one of those users submitted a new complaint on a daily basis to nag Mozilla to turn the f*cking update nag off. What will it take?

For my work, I need to paste a lot of links into text (on a website which is probably somewhat poorly programmed), and when I select some text and hit ctrl+k to create a hyperlink, Firefox doesn't recognize that it's a text box and "takes over" the ctrl+k function, focusing on the search/address bar instead of allowing me to insert the link. (The reason I blame the website is that other websites, like Jira, work fine for this)

Is there a way to disable the ctrl+k functionality in firefox? I've seen a couple old threads on disabling various shortcut keys but I don't know what the "Focus Search bar" key would be called in either the Browser Console or configs.

Thank you!!

I installed firefox on my new Windows 10 laptop and found that there is a persistent white bar at the top of my screen for some reason. This bar works when trying to resize or drag the window, but the typical way of clicking on firefox's banner at the top does not let me drag it anymore either. How do I get rid of this?

On macOS, with the proton update, there is a behaviour (taken from Chrome) that is to move down the tab bar when the mouse is going at the top of the screen and showing the menu bar. The issue is there's a massive gap that is incredibly annoying and will likely push me back to Chromium based browsers if not addressed. Every time my cursor goes up there I have this annoying gap pushing my tab bar too far down.

An example here: https://imgur.com/a/l7EeG2V

I find this behaviour irritating and would like, if possible, to disable it. Does anyone know if there is some about:config setting or userChrome.css that can do it?

Thank you

I am highly distractable by screen movements of any kind, and prefer that nothing on my screen moves unless I ask it to--no autoplay or running ribbons of text or even slideshows with pictures slipping past each other unless I specifically click to make something move. But none of the adjustments I've found in about:config have stopped the snowflakes that drift down across the screen on

https://cutetropolis.com

during December. I'd like to stop them in my viewing but not be the killjoy that demands they be taken down for everyone, because lots of people actually like them.

Any suggestions on what setting to tweak for this?

As mentioned in subject line, Window Control buttons disappear when in Fullscreen Mode. They literally scroll out of view. This looks like a "feature", which is what is most distressing. If this is the new way it is intended to work, then it's not broken, just super-inconvenient, going forward.

If I switch back out of fullscreen mode, then the buttons immediately scroll back into view. This means that anytime I want to switch out of Firefox for a minute, I have to first un-Fullscreen, then hit the now-visible Minimize button. Boo. I hate it.

Please tell me this is some random bug, and I should reinstall Firefox - anything other than that this is the new way of things...

Thanks.

P.S. Forgot to mention: I am on an up-to-date Win10 desktop
