Hi everyone.

Web pages frozen and won't update after sleep, closing and re-starting Firefox Quantum cures problem indefinitely until next sleep, if it is of any help, I don't know if this is linked, but when Firefox has been open and used for a while entering text on a page becomes slow i.e. I type several letters and there is a delay until they appear on screen, I may type say 4 letters then have to stop until it catches up.

I'm using windows 10 on a Toshiba laptop, all drivers etc up to date, previous to updating to Quantum I did my usual clean up and de-frag to get rid of any rubbish etc. all other programs run without any problems.

I did read about disabling my add-ons to improve the speed, but I didn't do that since I only have a couple. I use SQLite Manager a lot, I guess the Amazon one can go, but that isn't really the point.

This faster, newer, better Firefox is supposed to be amazing, but for me it is not.

I have reverted back to 56.0.2 and disabled automatic updates, now I'm back to working again.

Since updating to version57.0 64 bit Firefox has become unusable with 30 sec wait times for actions to happen after a mouse click. I am using Windows 10 Home Ver 1709 OS Build 16299.64. I have carried out all the Troubleshooting suggestions including reinstalling twice with no change. Microsoft Edge works perfectly as do all the other elements of the PC. Typing this is taking ages as the software cannot keep up and I have to wait 30 sec for the words to appear. After many satisfied years of using Firefox I am close to dumping it. Firefox updated to Quantum and blows Win8.1 dual processor out of the water. Usage runs as high as 100% Here's a screenshot. I picked a dull website with no ads running etc. CPU usage spikes every few seconds and Firefox averages really high compared to Internet Explorer. Notice the regular spikes in usage don't correlate with disk usage so I don't think it's causing paging to occur. What has Mozilla done to Firefox to cause this?

Just got 100Mg update on virgin cable. Firefox was working perfectly. Downloaded Update to 57.0 .... Everything seems to have slowed down. Firefox front screen comes up Ok; start typing and occasionally there is a delay before letter shows. Then will connect to site quite normally. Select an option (say a page on Amazon) and it can "freeze" for about 20 secs? before opening page. Scrolling down page it will seem to scroll for 2-3 secs then stop for 10 then start again. I've given up on selecting video; sat there for minutes waiting to load. Running Windows 10; 4Gb ram ; AMD X4 processor; 64 bit (I'm 74, so dont know what most of this means). Any help would be most appreciated. Please use words a wrinkly like me can understand. Thanks

I updated to FF57 yesterday or day before & I'm pulling my hair out.... Everything is lagging or unresponsive when typing into search it can take up to a full minute just for the results to load this was not the case before upgrading!!!. Another thing I noticed is I'm seeing messages in the bottom left that says stuff like waiting for, reading, transferring data from. other issues i think are just frustration from new format i suspect as some things dont work like saving things to Pinterest ect. But I can't deal with the major lagging & unresponsiveness it's really excessive... when the page finally does load then I'll have frequent issues trying to click within page, scrolling ect. & even trouble closing out tabs...One other odd issue that also began today which may or may not be related but i figured it's worth a mention just incase it's relevant, on 2 different accounts my passwords wont work at all from this laptop says they're incorrect but i can go on my phone & enter them without issue... & caplock is off I turned on view password to make sure it is being entered correctly .I researched about trying to go back to previous ff but it said not to go back to ff56 but i think it was version 52 with some letters after it i forgot what they are but that version would have security patches until may or june of 2016 but the directions seemed kind of complicated...I dunno what to do but I can't deal with all the trouble loading pages/results, & unresponsiveness. Please forgive me but I'm not all that tech savvy so I need things kind of simplified if anyone can help me or has suggestions re: how to fix all this lagging stuff. I'm still using Windows 7 on a dell xps im not sure what other info you need my apologies & thank you in advance for any help or thoughts you may have to offer.

My automatic updates just installed the new Firefox. Now it runs so slowly it is painful and I have stopped using it and have moved on to Chrome which works fine. I'm running Windows 10 on a PC that has never caused me any issues.In fact as I write this the typing appearing on the screen is about a minute behind which is hopeless.

When using latest update of firefox it will freeze for about 5-15 or 20 secs then 10-15 secs later it will start working then freeze up again and keeps repeating whats causing this

I HATE THE NEW QUANTUM!!!!

I upgraded from the latest version (57? 58?) and immediately lost all my session tabs. GONE.. no trace.. Then I backed up my profile to a new folder and noticed that the new quantum was AT A STAND STILL.. Literally not a single thing worked.. 30seconds - a full minute or more before it acknowledges each click of the mouse.. I re-installed it from a clean slate after deleting the profile folder, and all traces (except for the back in a new folder) and re-installed quantum..

AGAIN.. At a standstill..

Last night when I turned on my laptop, Firefox automatically updated itself. Immediately, it was very, very slow, then stalled, and crashed. I reopened it a couple more times, but still the same. At one point, it locked up my computer. I restarted it with add-ons disabled, but that didn't help. I've also refreshed it, and that too didn't work. I've used Firefox for many years and have never had a problem like this. My OS is Windows 10 (64-bit) and the rest of the computer is working fine.

very slow reacting to everything.. For instance I am typing this meswsage now, but it doesn't appear on screen for a m number of seconds after I typw it. scrolling is intermittent and web pages take forever to load. All I see is a verticle bar for some seconds before the hand appears to load something.

I was notified of the existence of the new version but delayed downloading it, on the principle that "completely new" software often has many bugs. However, the automatic update system moved me to the new version, since when, instead of being "twice as fast" everything takes much more than twice as long. I have been estimating response times by counting "1 and 2 and..." and find it can take anything between 5 and about 20 seconds to respond to a click, even for just opening or closing a tab. Typing anything in the new version is a real pain as I can get a couple of words ahead of the screen in spite of being a slow typist and then have to stop as I am not sure it is actually working. I had trouble logging in to my emails, I suspect because Firefox was sending my password a few characters at a time, in spite of my checking there were the right number of characters shown on the screen before sending it. Also one of the tiles on the New Tab tab refuses to be deleted! In case there had been some problem with the update I uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox but it has made no difference.

Is it possible to return to the old version and, if so, how? If not then I shall just have to abandon Firefox ( I should point out that even Microsoft gave the option of choosing when to move to Windows 10 and going back if you didn't like it but Mozilla has been totally arrogant in introducing this new version).

Hello, I have troubles with new Firefox Quantum. I have HP Zbook 15u G4. I update firefox from version 56 to 57. From the first time I had stucks when I scroll thru the wepages. But it stuck approximately every 10sec. I tried to refresh firefox and also the "clean instalation". I had remove all extensions but it still same problem with stucks. I also tried to turn the Firefox into emergency mode. Nothing help me. I had to try also update Firefox on my old TP W500 and there is everything allright. I have no idea what I do wrong. What can I do, to solve this problem? Thanks all for help.

Windows 7, 64 bit -

After a refresh Quantum response degrades as pages are loaded. After loading say "The Wall St Journal" clicking to get a new tab takes a second, similarly scrolling the side scroll won't respond right a way. It takes a second. When it does move it will stop following the mouse, then when you stop the mouse it will jump to where the mouse is. Things get progressively slower and jumpier until it either blows up itself and gives a message (that the failure has been reported) or a page freezes and you have to CNTRL_ALT_DEL out of it and end the task.

How do you fix this?

Firefox becomes unresponsive for long periods of time since installing version 57. Frequency reduces if I start without addons. Anyone having similar problem? Timed one lockup and it lasted five minutes and then Firefox worked again. Have not had this problem on version 56.
