I want to use a local html file as my new tab page. Currently there is no easy way to do this as far as I can tell.

Firefox at some point has removed the in-built option to set the new tab as a local file. Setting the home page as a local file is possible. But setting the new tab as either home (note, not 'Firefox Home') or explicitly the local file is not an option (see attached image).

Previous forum posts point toward New Tab Override extension. However, in recent releases, add-ons cannot offer a work around as Firefox no longer allows add-ons to access local files. In the image attached, New Tab Override extension shows that it cannot use a local file as the new tab. It can however take a file and store it somewhere it has control over. This means every time I edit the local file, I need to manually re-upload this to the extension in each instance of Firefox. It is no longer a good option.

I am sure I used this feature not too long ago and it feels like a very simple thing. I am sure I must have missed some setting or option. Any help achieving this would be greatly appreciated.

Please note that my question is not about preserving preferences. I've searched and found many Q&A threads on preference preservation, but I don't think that is my problem or issue.

What I'd like to do is to make some Ubuntu desktop menu shortcuts to launch specific web-based apps, in individual windows (I suppose separate instances and new-window) of specific size, with a given specific URL, hopefully with it's own icon, sort-of replacement of desktop apps. So in the Desktop menu I should be able to see 'Google Meet' (for instance) as an application with it's own icon, but clicking it launches Firefox with Google Meet's URL, and a window that is just 800x600 in size.

However, when I try to launch windows on Ubuntu MATE (also tried Lubuntu, and standard Ubuntu... all 20.04), firefox seems to ignore --window-size command line parameter, and all new windows are of exactly same size, which is the default size apparently, ignoring the command-line parameter. What gives ? How can I do what I am trying to as explained above (from firefox standpoint... I know how to create Ubuntu .desktop file etc.).

I am on Firefox Dev edition 81. When navigating a plain HTML form with the keyboard, the spacebar does not check radio or checkbox inputs.

When I test the same page in Firefox 80, the spacebar behaves as expected.

I use a Logitech MX Master mouse as my primary pointing device on my laptop (2015 MacBook Air). I use Logitech's options software (Logi Options) to set custom bindings for the buttons on the mouse. I have what would typically be considered the forward/back page keys to adjust volume up and down, a scroll wheel click is still just Mouse 3, and the gesture button on the side of the mouse is set to zoom in/out with the scroll wheel while it is depressed.

Firefox is the only browser that doesn't support the inputs from my mouse. How do I correct this?

None of these discuss whether users should address lesser-known problems with Youtube recommendations, such as when they recommend seizure triggers which lack seizure warnings.

Hi, in the new panel (highlighted) the bookmarks are shown from the last to the first. Instead I will come that they were displayed as in the favorites bar, from first to last.

I have installed some extensions. Is there any way to disable / enable the extensions by single click without visiting Menu>Add-ons>disable?

Because some sites do not load properly due to some of the installed extensions. So, I have to disable whenever visiting the site and enable it again after closing the site.

The library that seems to contain some of the info I am trying to download wants to install their add-on to Firefox. I don't dare do so without data about it being safe & non-malignant first! Anyone have experience with this?

When it comes to add-ons, then I add three of four at once or the same purpose, I try them all out, decide if I want to keep any of them, and then remove the ones I see that do not serve my target. All normal.

I know that it requires permission in order to have an add-on show in Private Browsing, that's done.

Now I had 8 add-ons on the toolbar, I disabled two or three of them so I can try two new ones. I did not like the new ones, so I just enabled the ones I had disabled, which where previously showing in the toolbar, all of this in Private Browsing having the permission of showing them.

As I enabled the add-ons again, they are not showing anymore in the toolbar..!!

Okay, I removed them and re-added them..not showing. I also did: not allow in Private Mode, then re-allowed..not showing. I simply restarted the browser in both normal and Private Mode, and yet not showing.. I also restarted my pc, and retried all previous steps again

• This mainly happened as I removed the extension from toolbar, then added it again.

Still also 90% of the time, just disable then enable again, and only a few are showing again. Either when disabled then re-enabled or when removed then re-added*

So, what to do ?

I’ve been trying to use Firefox Screenshots but my images always appear much more washed out than they do in the browser.

I’ve attached two screenshots for comparison. First one taken with using the Mac’s built in screenshot tool and the second one with Firefox Screenshots.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Evernote web-clipper, Keeper and Zoom scheduler icons have all disappeared but appear to be installed. I have removed and reinstalled the add-ons, and restored my custom controls to default and they are still not appearing. Please help.

Hallo, I often use the 'Restore previous session'-button as I wasn't able to finish my work / reading all the stuff of the day. Some tabs I kept reopening with that function over weeks.

Unfortunately, my son opened up Firefox for searching some school info and closed it afterwards. So I cannot restore 'my' session and would have to search the history of weeks to find one quite important article. Is there a possibility of finding somewhere a sort of cache of the so-called 'pre-previous session'??? It'd quite important to me, thank you in advance for a short answer!

on a Google meeting, that is, a meeting created in Google Calendar that generates those automated Google meeting URLs:

when I share my screen, I also want my mouse cursor to be shared, because it's very useful to use it as a laser pointer so the audience in the meeting knows which part of the screen they should be looking at.

I couldn't find any feature at all within Firefox or inside the Google meeting settings [as the meeting is happening] to turn on my mouse cursor sharing.

On Chrome the mouse cursor is shared by default when someone shares their screen, which is desired behaviour.

It's a local problem with Firefox because other co-workers who have identical computers to mine use Chrome and I always see their mouse cursor when they share their screens. I'm on Windows 10.

It was about last week (14-Sep-2020) that Google started rolling out the feature to blur the background in the webcam's image. Only the person is not blurred.

This feature is appearing on Chrome, but not on Firefox.

Is this something that Firefox has the control over to turn on? Or it this outside of Firefox's controlled and controlled by Google?

This may be a duplicate, but I really could not find any answer that would work. As the title says, I've been trying to move Firefox tabs from the top to the bottom of the entire window. With this I mean I'd like to move only the tab titles and nothing else (no address bar, ...), and not to move it just below the bookmarks bar. I've been trying and modifying several userChrome.css files that were told to do so (in older versions), but the only thing I could obtain was to move the tab titles below the bookmarks bar, just above the web page. I'm on Arch Linux, using dwm as Window Manager. Is there any way, any css property that could help me? Thanks in advance.

I've seen this thread to customize some settings in Firefox but I don't think I've found what I need. So here's my issue : Some people in my company use a software which download JNLP file. I've found this support topic which solve my problem (I've tested with one user). But now, I'd like to spread the workaround via a GPO. I've downloaded the policy template v2.1 ('cause Firefox 79 is installed) but I can't figure out how I force the value to "True" for the browser.download.skipConfirmLaunchExecutable preference in the about:config panel. Is it supported or not yet ? Could anyone lend a hand please ? Thanks in advance.

Problem as described in the title. I've read some similar questions and answers, but nothing ever helped.

I already tried the following steps (none of them helped): - Checking for updates - Toggling DRM on/off - Uninstall Firefox completely (delete profiles, too and so on) - Changing some DRM or Plugin related config in about:config like media.peerconnection.video.h264 (and of course reverting it after that) - Looking for XHR requests when toggling DRM on/off or visting a site with DRM content. I couldn't figure out what I'm actually looking for, though... - Switching off Firewall/Antivirus or the TLS filtering (Eset) for a moment - Looking for suspicious requests in some router protocols or dashboards or whatever
