How to unblock VTT files not being loaded into HTML video pages viewed on local disk?

I asked this question some time back here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1362859 I'm asking again to reframe the question. The problem is - if my experience is a guide to the rest of the world - VTT files (which are used to caption HTML video) are no longer read/loaded by Firefox when it is viewing the HTML file locally (i.e. file://). On the web they are loaded as expected. Presumably there's a security setting somewhere in Firefox that now refuses to load the VTTs locally. Maybe under Help > More troubleshooting information there is a setting to change to fix that?

When I connect to my home router via HTTPS I get a popup with the message “Invalid Encryption Key”. I tried using other installations of Firefox and I don't get this pop up. I then made a new Firefox profile on the same computer and did not get the popup. So it seemed like a Firefox "refresh" would be in order. But after the refresh the problem persists.

So how do I resolve this issue?

Firefox is the latest version running on a Mac.

After upgrading to v101, Firefox no longer recognizes my Self-signed wildcard SSL for *.local.dev.

Before you tell me not to use the .dev domain, I am aware that Google owns it and we're technically not supposed to do local development with the *.local.dev domain.

I have already tried the following: 1. Set network.stricttransportsecurity.preloadlist to FALSE, and everything was working perfectly fine before v101 2. imported the server.crt into Trusted Root Authorities in Windows, and also imported it in the Certificate manager in Firefox. 3. Tried other wildcard local domains like *.test.site, *.local.ddev and these don't work either.

I even tried following recent guides to issue a new certificate with openssl and SAN, and it still doesn't work.

Screenshot of wildcard SSL attached.

Many of the websites I access ask if I want them to remember my login info--username and password. For those that I trust, I indicate that I want them to remember this information, and for most I get an e-mail confirming that my device is registered. However, the next time I log in, I still have to go through the entire login. Is this a Firefox issue, and if so, how can I correct this?

Hello, Few days ago I noticed that Firefox started complaining about self-signed certificate issues, although I added my CA certificate to authorities months ago. It worked without any problem, but now I'm unable to open any of my internal sites anymore.

I tried to open a random site in Chrome, but the same issue. So you immediately will say the is in the certificate, but wait. I have few VMs running on Virtualbox, so I decided to test in there. Guess what, no issues at all. I tried in Fedora 25 (the Firefox version is below 100), then tried Windows 100. Both worked. Then I decided to update FF to the latest version, guess what - it broke again =]]

So something has changed, but I really don't have a clue what causes the issue. I attach the screenshot of detailed CA view from Firefox.

i own a macbook and have recently switched from chrome to firefox- in my mac settings, it hasnt given firefox the permissions to use my microphone or camera. it doesnt show up the usual list to be able to allow the permissions. i've enabled microphone and camera permissions for the websites i want through firefox, but i cant even unmute myself. i think i need firefox to give me a popup and ask for microphone permissions, but it hasnt done that- and even if it did, i think it would show up in the list for allowing permissions through my mac settings (it shows applications that have requested for microphone access).

Getting error SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN on all my sites that are signed with a SSL Cert from my internal CA since updating past version 99

This appears to be a bug starting after Firefox version 99 on Windows because after i upgraded to Firefox version 100 i started getting this on all my SSL Certs from my CA and they worked fine prior to the update. Can anyone confirm if something changed after version 100 that is causing this?

Thank you.

I am using Firefox Version 101.0.1 (64-bit) for Desktop Windows 10 64bit (newest version (see question date for lookup info)).

This problem I could not find anywhere in this Firefox self support community. I think I discovered a bug in the firefox settings, but it might just be me missing something, but I doubt it, being familiar with the settings and them being clearly worded.

I can not seem to get my firefox to save the website always allowed to keep cookies stored between sessions (and their cookies / other data obviously also don't get saved between sessions). - maybe there arises a problem with the setting of never saving history between sessions?

Please, have a look at my current settings below (two screenshots): <image 1 (longer one)> <image 2 (shorter one, custom history settings)>

The settings being written as they are should mean that the always allowed websites should never have their cookies deleted between sessions, regardless of their history (their being visited) being deleted. To me this is frustrating and appears like a bug and not a feature.

Maybe is history is deleted all site permissions and data get deleted, too? - (If yes, that is clearly not what the settings suggest, and if it is supposed to work like this, I strongly suggest the Firefox Dev.s team to fix the confusion or add some feature work-around to suit my use-case. The internet is not a safe place anymore, generally, but some parts are, let me trust your settings do what the say they do, at the very least. Thanks in advance.)

Hello. I just created a master password to protect my website passwords. However, this master password is required to start a session with Firefox. My suggestion is that you do not require the master password to start a Firefox session, only to access the passwords information, or to create and remember a login password for a new website. It is a hassle to enter the master password every time I want to use Firefox. Or should I keep firefox open the entire day?

For a class I'm taking I turned off the ad blocker. When I reset the privacy/security settings I may have also cleared the browser and or settings. Now I'm not receiving the subscriptions I've signed up for.

I've added the email addresses to my yahoo contacts and changed my passwords and I am still not receiving the subscription emails. Is the setting I need to change in Yahoo or Firefox? It's driving me nuts and no matter what I do (change login, settings on the sites) I am still not getting emails from my subscriptions.

I have been using Firefox browser for a long time, since it was called Mozilla browser. An answer such as "I'm out of luck." means I will have to look for a new browser. I prefer not to do that. I trust the Mozilla brand and like you products and recommend them to my friends and customers.

I do not and will not manually close my browser session every time I want to shut down my computer in order to get it to do what it's supposed to. Linux sends SIGTERM to all running processes on shutdown. Firefox isn't handling this correctly, obviously, because if it was, then my settings would be getting respected. SIGTERM is the standard signal sent to windows that need to close gracefully and are expected to still be functional.

NOTE: Do not provide windows-specific support to this thread. I am not running firefox on windows, and I do not possess a windows computer or license.

This isn't a question about the "Multi-Account Containers" addons, I am pretty sure that there was a section called "Container tabs" in the privacy and security settings, and I could use containers without installing an addon some days ago.

I can still access by directly viewing this address

about:preferences#containers

But I can't find it in the settings, and this feature does no longer work.

So I went to read recent release notes from Firefox 100 to 101.0.1, but I didn't find any notes to say this feature has been disabled. Could this be an unexpected result of an update?

When I ask WordPress to "preview in new tab," I get a File Not Found screen. (See uploaded image.) This works fine in Chrome (which I rarely use) but not in Firefox, so I'm thinking it might be a Firefox issue. The Tablet and Mobile previews work fine, but they don't require a new tab. I thought it might have to do with pop-ups, so I made my blog's URL an exception. That didn't help. Then I disabled the pop-up blocker altogether. That didn't help either. I've never had this problem before although I've been using both Firefox and WordPress for many years. I'm working on an old laptop (current one is kaput), but I think everything's up to date. Windows 10. Any idea what the problem might be? TIA for any help. This is driving me nuts!
