if I open the browser and in about:config set browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled to false

it works and disables the task list in the task bar.

if i edit the prefs.js I find that the following option

   user_pref("browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled", false);

if I set to true and start the browser again the task list is still hidden

   user_pref("browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled", true);

So the only way to get it back is to toggle it from about:config. So putting the task list back and editing the prefs.js to add

   user_pref("browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled", false);

doesnt turn off the tasklist either

So the task list is not dependent on the prefs.js at all? It seems to only toggle when done from about:config...

in fact if I delete the prefs.js altogether and it still remembers the task bar setting. So where is this particular setting made in windows? Is it in registry or somewhere else in windows

Is it possible to edit html files in firefox with notepad? was asked 8 years ago, but the solutions no longer work. The internal Scratchpad facility seems to have disappeared, I cannot see how to edit the code using Developer Tools, and Windows 11 no longer offers Notepad as an "Open with" app.

I can't login to the NY Times website using Firefox. I'm sure I'm using the correct password because I can log in using a different browser. I don't save passwords in Firefox. I enter them manually or use a password manager. As I said, I'm certain I'm using a valid password. I've cleared the cookies and all of the items under History on the Settings page. When I close Firefox, nothing is saved. When I contact NYT customer service, I was informed that they've had a lot of requests for assistance from Firefox users, and nothing was out of order with those users' NYT login; the problem was with Firefox.

Please advise.

Hi, I am using the most recent firefox on windows 10. A few months ago with an update that occurred at the time, firefox suddenly switched to some sort of dark mode - ie all text was white with black background. I found others online with the same issue and with their help was able to change the main view back, however all the menu's and any popup dialogue options are still in this mode. I have attached a screen shot.

Please help me, all my bookmarks are gone and everything is set to default. I also checked my history and there is nothing. All have been wiped out. I restarted my firefox because it detects my letters as keyboard shortcuts , I tried to exit and open it first but it is still there. Then, I used troubleshoot mode to restart the firefox. It was fixed after that but after using firefox for a while I noticed all my bookmarks are gone, then, checked everything was gone. I tried restoring bookmarks by profiles but firefox didn't create a profile it was only a default profile in there. I haven't log in my account on this device because i forgot. Please help I really those bookmarks back. It is very important for my work and most of my research references are my bookmarks.

I'm hiding menu items using userChrome.css with option “toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets” set to “true”.

So I am hiding some menu items like for example

  1. menu_find { display: none !important }

however though the menu item is gone how do I get rid of the ctrl-F menu shortcut...

I have many such menu items to remove so I need a generic solution to override the short-cut icons associated with the menu items I want to remove

Hello,

the newest update to version 97.0 was run automatically. Afterwards the new print preview appears although I have it disabeled in about:config (print.tab_modal.enabled --> false). I cannot get rid of it. It is very annoying as I cannot print my labels with that menu and always have to click once more to do so. Does anyone has a fix for this?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

When I go to https://squareup.com/login the entry fields do not appear in Firefox. It's impossible for me to access my Square account through Firefox currently, which I use for client invoicing. I have no trouble logging in through Chrome. Screenshot attached.

I have Privacy Badger and AdBlock installed for both browsers. I tried disabling them for Firefox just to see if that was the issue, but it made no difference. I am using an iMac running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7. My Firefox Browser is version 97.0.1, and currently shows that it's up to date. My Chrome browser is version 98.0.4758.109, also up to date.

After release 97 was installed, my PDF tax files no longer print correctly because an extra margin gets added top, left, right, and bottom. It is visible in the preview, and that's the way it prints. Nowhere can I find a margin adjustment. What is even stranger is that this only happens with "fillable" tax files which I downloaded from IRS and filled in with Firefox, some in release 96 and some in 97. In release 96 they printed correctly, but not in release 97. Do I need to use a different browser?

Running Linux Mint Mate 19.2 on two computers. Starting about 2 weeks ago, when trying to sign into providencejournal.com (with a paid subscription) using Firefox 97.0.1, just one of the computers displays an error message, see attached. We have used that site for years without issues, and the other computer still signs in correctly. On the problem computer I have just installed the Opera browser, for test purposes, and with Opera the sign-in succeeds. In F/F, I have tried disabling extensions, allowing all trackers and cookies, and reinstalling Javascript, all to no avail. preference is to use F/F, can anyone offer a solution?

Hello,

I know that it's possible with Chrome, but I cannot do it with Firefox. Is there preferably) a trick to do it or any add-on ?

Access the history from a tab and then copy one of the link. It's very useful to keep current page open and paste old link (in a mail, a new tab, etc...).

History > Manage history doesn't show anything (but might be normal due to my settings).

Thanks !

1.OMG had to click the same button SOOOO MANY TIMES TO ACTUALLY GET TO THIS POST SCREEN OMG. STOP REDIRECTING AND JUST LET US POST CONSIDERING EVERYTHING ELSE IS ARCHIVED TOO! 2. BTW plz make it easier to have 2 copy's of Firefox, that doesn't Auto mess with a completely different install and directory setup. Maybe a Portable version that supports Flash and doesn't actually connect online?

Okay ISSUE:

I downloaded 82.0 Before 2021 and is before Flash was removed from Firefox. When I try to open the .SWF with Firefox it just wants to 'Download' or 'Open' with a program through Firefox instead of actually opening. I came across another post that had an Answer that doesn't seem to be working:

https://support.mozilla.org/gl/questions/1172126

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste plug*ht and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the plugins.http_https_only preference to switch the value from true to false

That method doesn't change anything when trying to open the Flash. I am trying to do this because I have a .SWF that I know works through the Browser on Firefox but doesn't want to load with Ruffle.
