My Windows 10 Pro laptop computer crashed a couple of days ago and no longer works. I am considering replacing it with a new Macbook Air. My files are backed up with Carbonite. Will I be able to get my saved passwords back by restoring my Firefox profile to the proper folder on the Mac? (I already know that Carbonite's backup program will not do a "file restore" between Mac and Windows; I will likely be paying Carbonite an extra $100 so they can put my files on an external drive and ship i to me.) | (I have a lot of the passwords saved in Safari on my iPhone and old iPad mini 2, but there are some I did not want to save on the mobile devices. They are also not on the much older Windows laptop I am currently using. Therefore, I cannot access certain sites right now unless I am willing to change the passwords.)

The vast majority of the time, when I open a new tab, I want to go to a page I already visited. Unfortunately, I consistently have to press down arrow to get to what I'm looking for.

I already disabled any kind of search suggestion (settings screenshot attached), added the separate search field, but nothing I tried removed the "Search with DuckDuckGo" being the first suggestion. I pressed the down arrow so many times in my life because of this, I'm at a loss.

Am I missing something? Is there any way to get the history suggestions to be before ANY web search.

I have been trying to read article comments on Fox News Digital (https://www.foxnews.com), but the comments are not showing up. I am using a MacBook Air with Sonoma 14.1. I am using FireFox latest edition and have updated FireFox but comments are still not showing up. Comments do display in Safari logged in to foxnews.com or not. I would put a jpg in this request for assistance, but it wouldn't show much just a white space where the comments should be.

Similar to the issue described in this thread (https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1240674), I am unable to open Firefox - it simply refuses to open. I've tried multiple times, the option key, and re-installing. Nothing seems to work, which suggests something about my user settings is the issue, but a) I am not keen on deleting this if possible and b) I won't delete my user settings unless that is necessary. Like the attached thread, I am happy to attach crash reports, but without the ability to even open Firefox properly it's not obvious how I do this - force-quitting it just sends a report to Apple.

Any help much appreciated - I'd quite like Firefox working again.

My laptop is a MacBook Pro 13 2020 (Intel) running macOS Monterey (12.7.4). I installed the version of Firefox available for download as of writing (v127.0 based on Finder).

For a while now, I've been having recurring issues with Firefox desktop freezing and becoming totally unresponsive. If there's any pattern to what causes it, I haven't been able to notice it; sometimes it happens as soon as I open the browser, sometimes it happens after several hours, sometimes it happens twice in ten minutes, sometimes it happens twice in a few hours (however, I can count the number of days it's happened less than twice in one day in the past few weeks on the fingers of one hand). When the browser freezes, it becomes totally unresponsive - it doesn't fade or display "Not Responding", and Task Manager shows nothing abnormal, but it doesn't accept any input at all, any video or other animated material that may have been displaying freezes, and it can only be "fixed" by force quitting from the task manager and reopening. This is exclusively a firefox issue; other programs open at the same time as the browser freezes are not affected.

The only real lead I have as to what could be going on is that sometimes, things don't freeze all at once, but in a cascading effect. For example, tabs, bookmarks, etc. might not highlight when moused over, but still accept the clicks, or selecting another tab might causes the address bar to display the URL of the selected tab, but the screen displayed in the window will not change. Once these cascading changes start, they generally progress to total freeze before I have a chance to do much with that information (only a few seconds), but it's unusual enough behavior to be worth noticing.

Things I've already tried that haven't fixed the issue:

  • Reducing the number of tabs used and otherwise reducing Firefox's system resource usage has not impacted the problem in any way.
  • Running in Troubleshoot Mode has not had a consistent effect on the problem (the most recent time I did, the browser ran stably for longer than I could stand to use the internet without my ad blocker, but this is only one data point in an already inconsistent spread; prior instances of the problem have occurred in Troubleshoot Mode)
  • Disabling hardware acceleration has not fixed the issue.
  • The issue has persisted through multiple refreshes and at least one full uninstall and clean reinstall.
  • The issue persisted after creating and switching to a new profile multiple times.
  • The issue persisted after renaming places.sqlite
  • The issue persisted after clearing cache and cookies multiple times.
  • The issue persisted after clearing downloads and history.
  • And very likely some other stuff that I'm forgetting, I've been trying to fix this on my own for a while now.

I have a Lenovo Win 11 notebook that now requires me to sign in each time I open Outlook or YouTube when I use the Firefox Browser. Edge and Chrome do not require a sign each time I use Outlook and/or YouTube. A setting in Firefox certainly seems to be the cause. I reinstalled Firefox, still same broblem.

A week or two ago I had no issues with Outlook and YouTube. It happens now every time I Open Outlook and YouTube.

I now use EDGE and have stopped using Firefox which has been my preferred browser for years.

Windows 10, fully updated with the latest firefox version. Email program is MS Outlook through my employer. Email notifications are overwhelmingly loud if the global volume is sufficient for viewing content. Playing with the volume mixer doesn't help. I have searched for solutions online, and every suggested fix entails features or options that are not available on my system. Please provide complete instructions for Windows 10. This has been going on for a length of times, the Privacy app or window keeping changing when I used it. This morning, it started back when trying to close it to go to another website. Also, the middle part of the privacy screen keeping changing.

Firefox is not secure because there is something going on every day with the settings. They keep changing on me.

I get the following two error messages when I click on Foxfire. Couldn't load XPCOM; and Entry Point not found; followed by this:  ?Nan@Decimal@blink@@SA?AV12@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library...

I tried to uninstall the program, but got the same two messages and it would not let me. I downloaded a new version and I'm getting the same messages. Everytime I start my computer, I get the same two messages and have to click out of them to keep going. I've installed another browser, but at this point, I just want to uninstall Foxfire so it stops popping up with error messages all the time.

Anybody know how to resolve this? Thanks.

As you can see in the attached image the highlight is coming out grey instead of blue, which is what is showing when I select 'save screenshot'. It used to be this error happened maybe one in 20 times and it was annoying because I am making these screenshots for use in youtube videos and it becomes unreadable, but now it is every single screenshot even after doing it dozens of times and with different pages.

Multiple users are reporting in Microfix's Mozilla Firefox and ESR Updates 2024 in the AskWoody forum that the two options at Settings | Browsing | Recommend extensions as you browse and Recommend features as you browse were both automatically re-enabled when Firefox updated to v127.0.0. I was able to confirm both those settings were previously disabled in my Firefox browser and re-enabled without my permission in v127.0.0.

So far this as been confirmed in desktop builds of Firefox v127.0.0 and Firefox ESR v115.0.2 released on 11-Jun-2024, but not in Portable builds of Firefox. I'm hoping that the automatic re-enabling of these settings is a bug, and not a deliberate change to make Firefox more intrusive.

I should add that the first time I re-launched Firefox after upgrading to v127.0.0 on 11-Jun-2024 I saw a banner message asking me if I'd like to Open Firefox every time you start your computer?. I'm hoping that clicking the "Not Now" button button once will be enough to prevent this nag from reappearing.

Got up this morning and FF said all my tabs were crashed - GAH! Could not open ANY new tabs, not even a blank tab, without getting this message. Clicking on restore tabs did nothing. Closing & opening FF did nothing. Cleared startup cache & uninstalled ublock origin (the only extension I had) but that did nothing. Refresh firefox did nothing (except lose some of my preferences). Went to about:crashes and all it says is "No crash reports have been submitted." Every other suggestion I found online was beyond my comprehension. FF DOES work in troubleshooting mode only, but I lose some important functions in that mode. I've been using FF almost since it was born and have NEVER encountered a problem like this before. I hope someone can help!
