I updated Mozilla yesterday and as it happened, this new PDF viewer it magically came with doesn't cooperate with the sites I need to use for my workplace. I want the old way of viewing PDF's back, or just to be able to disable the built-in PDF viewer so that I can use the Adobe PDF viewer and see my files once again. I found a way to disable all PDF viewers, through about:config, but now I have to download the PDF's to my desktop to even view them and this doesn't exactly flow with my work. Please help!

I was having issues with Videos playing so figured I had to update my Flashplayer, but when I tried to update it kept failing to install and on the Control Panel for Windows XP I clicked on the Flashplayer Icon and went to the Advanced Tab and it states that there are no ActiveX Control installed but I know I have ActiveX version 10 installed due to some Games I have installed on the PC. So I was wondering how FireFox worked with or around the ActiveX Controls. This is for my piece of mind and future reference as I do all my own Tech Support for my PC and am self taught through trial and error about XP. Am running an Intel Celeron processor, 697MHz with XP Service Pack 3, FireFox 12.0, 192MB of SD RAM. Yeah it's old but it works for what I do. LOL Anyway any info on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance Craig

In previous versions of Firefox, like 19.0, it is a simply matter to disable graphics and/or java. Simply go to Firefox "Tools", "Options", "Content", unclick "Load images Automatically", unclick "Enable JavaScript".

With Firefox 23.0.1, I don't see that as a option. How do I easily disable and enable the graphics and javascript?

I am aware that "Adblock" has some capabilities to do some of this. Although I find Adblock more complicated and have not been able to achieve my goals with it.

This is very important to me.

Since upgrading to firefox 20.0.1 my download helper is not working like it used too.

Before updating to Firefox 20.0.1 I would click on the "Download Helper" icon and choose what format I want to download, then a box would open and show my various downloads in progress. Instead I've noticed that instead of the the normal box opening there is this little arrow in the right-hand corner that I have to click on in order to see what is downloading and when I close the browser the progress box that I used to be able to see is no longer there and also I am now UNABLE to continue downloading like I was able to with downloadhelper!!!

I can't speak for anyone else but I prefer using Downloadhelper as opposed to the so-called downloader that has been built into Firefox 20.0.1.

How do I get the download helper to work like it used to and how do I get rid of that annoying download arrow in the right had corner?!

If the powers that be are going to make improvements concerning security I'm all for it but I want to the option to choose whatever addons I want to use without having them made unusable whenever there is an "upgrade".

I am not able to view any YouTube videos on YouTube or Facebook whilst using Firefox. My Flash Player/Plugin/Shockwave Player & Javascript are all the most recent and all show as up to date and working. On selecting a video to view I now have a blank screen which I have right clicked on & notice there is an Adhoc Plus - Block Image message and wonder if this should be there as this is not the case when viewing through Internet Explorer (which still allows me to view all videos & shows that I have Flash Player installed when I right click on the same screen). I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled to see if this would solve the problem but this has made no difference. I have also noticed on my Firewall that Javascript is not showing as an Exception and changed this to find that this has made no difference either. I am now at a complete loss - can anyone help me please as I would like to keep using Firefox. Many thanks

For quite a while now my Firefox has been crashing. I always assumed it was because I had too many tabs open so I didn't really try to remedy the situation. Recently, I finally decided to upgrade to Firefox 24 and the issue has gotten much worse - with Firefox crashing even when I have only a limited number of tabs open and it crashing much more often. Furthermore, after updating to Firefox 24, I've had issues with Adobe Flash crashing randomly as well (note: I did not have this problem with the older version of Firefox). My Adobe Flash was up to date and after a bit of research I read that maybe the up to date version of Flash (version 11.9) had a problem running properly with Firefox 24 so I downgraded to the Flash version 11.8 but alas the problem of Flash crashing it still occurring. But even when I don't have any Flash players open, Firefox will still crash or lag. I feel like the issues are all connected somehow.

I've visited various Firefox troubleshooting pages but as I don't know what the exact problem is, I'm not sure which help methods I should target. I don't use that many add-ons/plugins so I don't think they would be causing a problem. Also, I have unchecked the 'use hardware when available' to see if that made any difference, but it doesn't seem to.

On the about:crashes page, the overwhelming majority of the reports do not start with 'bp' at the front of them and there is mention of throttling when I click on them (maybe that's because I crash so often? I don't know). I am unsure about how to decipher the crash reports and would appreciate any help to my problem.

The five most recent crash IDs are: 427a3a5a-79ba-482b-81af-d96d25d8e642 ae01989b-2623-4889-9ab0-cbf193b0acd3 737a1945-29cf-4395-85f5-3a5424da5254 bp-4a49fa46-6fb5-4244-a221-e55d72131028 28ff6786-68b5-4dbf-b255-43f358155160

The five most recent crash IDs that start with 'bp' are: bp-87172abd-586d-4c7a-b53c-8908c2131027 bp-b74dbc36-9bf8-4236-be28-154c32131026 bp-3420cf79-36ad-4043-92b2-a14482131021 bp-a4d7de9e-fd9f-42cb-b570-34db12131021 bp-eaa24b3b-1a33-412e-99b6-62b9e2131018

I regularly get a nonresponsive script, especially in a browser session that has been around for awhile. I find that if I end nonresponsive scripts, the browser remains stable. Heaven help me if I leave a browser window open for several hours, and return to the computer to find it tied up and it will take 15 minutes to respond to a mouse click or a keyboard entry until I can finally get Firefox shut down or forced to end.

I tried to use the "Always perform this action" check box and select to end the script. I figured if I choose that option it would always end a nonresponsive script when it's time for the box to appear.

I would prefer that over finding the computer tied up with a nonresponsive browser four hours later.

OS Windows XP SP3 and now Firefox 27.0.1

Gmail and YouTube seem to be two sites that are especially troublesome.
