I want to stop Firefox from silently updating in the background during browsing sessions. When it finishes updating like this, currently open tabs stop working and I can no longer open new tabs. The only fix is to restart Firefox. This is a problem if I am, for instance, going through a set of web forms as the information I enter will then be deleted and I have to start again.

When I have used Firefox on Windows, the requirement to restart Firefox to install updates has always been indicated by some change to the settings button on the top right of the window. With Ubuntu, the update is downloaded and installed without any action from my part, and given that it is quite disruptive this is unacceptable.

I have tried a number of ways of changing this, none of which work. Under the general settings tab, there are no options for changing the way updates are handled. Settings under about:config appear to do nothing. I have app.update.auto set to false, and app.update.notifyDuringDownload is set to true. I have attempted to circumvent these by setting a policy using the policies.json:

{

 "policies": {
   "DisableAppUpdate": true,
   "AppAutoUpdate": false,
   "BackgroundAppUpdate": false
 }

}

None of these have made the slightest change to how Firefox handles updates.

I am running Firefox 110.0.1 (64 bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS, but I should point out that this has been a problem for the last several years of Firefox versions on the same OS.

Hi

Little thing really but still slightly annoying. why cant i move the Extensions button? I personaly have no need for it on my browser and i really dont like it there! thats where my bookmarks button sits. I use Firefox because its the best and most customizable browser available, so i struggle to understand why this one button is uncustomizable. Please could you unlock the button so it can be places anywhere, like the rest the buttons of your awsome browser, or as in my case, just removed.

thanks guys Keep up the awsom work.

I recently got Windows 10 set up with a Korean keyboard, but when I go to Firefox, the language remains English. To wit, I am typing this right now with the Korean keyboard selected. Tabbing out to a different program works as expected.

When I try to switch the keyboard, it doesn't matter which is selected--it always types in English.

I could find no troubleshooting help online for this.

Why is Firefox ignoring my input language?

I just finished setting up my new pc with Windows 11 (Feb 2023 updates) and installed Firefox 110.0.1) and wanted to transfer my logins, passwords, etc, from my Android 12 Phone's Firefox 110.1.0, and other pcs. A window popped up giving instructions how to sync my phone, as follow:

      • Sync Firefox on you phone or tablet. 1) open Firefox on your Mobile Device. 2) Go to the menu (<ios>&<android>menu examples shown) and tap sync and save data. 3. Tap ready to scan and hold your phone over this code.***

I'm 73, have used Firefox since first release in 2004. In all these years I have never seen SYNC in the instructions to "sync and save and to point the phone at a barcode-thingy" or at least not in this world. The instructions made it seem like SYNC was right there to see, but I had to dig thru layes of options to finally find it. You can blaim it on my 73 yr old brain, I guess, but nothing like these instructions exist in Windows or Android firfox. What in the world are your programmers smokin' these days. I would just as soon open up Edge or Chrome and did up the passwords I need to log into my banking and creditcard accounts...heck, it seems like MAYBE I should just dump Firefox after almost 20 years and just use those other browsers. At least there instructions are much simpler that this ol' man can follow. Please have someone review your published helps info on your webpages, and help those Sr. citizens like me to more easily find what we need without calling up grandsons or granddaughters for help (their parents are worse than I am at most techy stuff!) I am trying to reset my password as it has not been changed in a while. When I go to the change password area of my profile, I type in my existing password, and the new one, and then it says "Incorrect Password" every time. I know that I am typing it correctly, and I have even used the exact same password to login to this very device, and my mobile device, to double and triple check I have it right. It works when logging in to Firefox, but when used in the change password area it tells me the password is not correct. I am at a loss what to try next.

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 11 and last Firefox, and get some weird rendering of letters on some websites. It seems that the end of a letter is bolded so to speak (screenshot attached). Also, there is an unnatural widening between the lines of text on the same websites (screenshot attached). This does not appear on other browsers. What can I do to correct it?

I recently reset my password for my Walmart account. After doing this, I logged out and attempted to log back in.

Strangely, the log in page appeared more as a "create account" page, that is to say, it asked for an email, my full name, and to create a password.

I called support while still sitting on the page, we reasoned that if I tired to "create account" with my existing email that I was using, logically, i would get an error saying that I already had an account using that email, so I continued and to my surprise--I logged in.

However, I cannot view any of my personal information, nor the items I had saved in my cart or any type of payment information.

Mind you, I had an conflict with the Feb update to Firefox and Walmart which was similar except that I can see the image of a cart on the cart and purchase history page, at that time there were no images, but it seemed to sort itself out over a couple of hours.

As with that error, I logged into Walmart with Chrome, using the new password and am able to view all my information. I can also log into the ap with my new password, and view all my information. I simply can't log into it with Firefox and see anything, it's almost as if did create a new accoiunt, except that I can log in with the new password and view all my information in Chrome and the ap on myh phone.

To sum it up, I changed the password in Firefox, the new password works in all three cases except in Firefox I cannot view my personal information.

I do not have a screenshot of the page when I first tried to log back in with Firefox, though it was odd and somewhat unexpected.d The only way to change my password now is in Chrome, or the ap, so I cannot say if that screen would appear again or not or what would happen.

Nevertheless, I understand that Walmart.com has become a "known issue" for a lot of people. I contacted, supposedly, their IT support and was told that it would probably fix itself, more or less.

Still, I thought to post this just in case.

Thank you.
