After a recent upgrade...I got an error message about an 85/86 discrepancy. I was told to delete and restore Firefox....Now I can't load Firefox because of a 7-Zip error "Can not create temp folder file." Please help.

my problem is the opposite. I was getting my email through telus web mail. Telus has decided to port everyone over to google mail...which I hate. I was told that the port would be smooth as silk and all Thunderbird would require is a couple of tweaks and all would be well.... on October 12th my email "handsonhistory@telus.net" was ported to google. I contacted telus tech support to help setting up Thunderbird and they deleted my profile. I was concerned that all of my "pop" email would disappear but the tech agent said that it would not. The tech agent then re-instated the email "handsonhistory@telus.net" and changed the account into an "imap" account he re-instated the handsonhistory@telus.net profile with-in thunderbird" and aimed it to google email servers. Well, all my emails disappeared. the agent said that there was a back-up somewhere and we could easily get my email back. I have tried everything and nothing has worked. I have a backup of the profile as of 2 days ago. I have tried redirecting Thunderbird to another email folder using the account settings to server settings to a version of the profile I placed on my "D" drive. The emails appear, the system becomes unstable, the the "script" is running message comes up with a continue or discontinue choice and no matter what you choose the emails disappear. I have tried over writing the mail folder within the profile found on the "C" drive and the same thing above happens? Telus will no longer help me and I have been left high and dry. I have another email that I need to activate for my wife but I am afraid to damage her inbox as it is color coded and represents years of work. Please can anyone help me? Todd

Hello

A few weeks ago, I really struggled to install my profile on my laptop and I eventually deleted Thunderbird, reinstalled it and then managed to migrate my profile and everything worked fine

But today, I needed to use my laptop and when I try to launch Thunderbird, i get these strange popup windows (see screenshots)

If i then click on Thunderbird in the task bar and chose another command like "write an email ", the contents of the pop up window changes slightly but Thunderbird remains unusable as the normal windows do not appear

Can anybody help please?

After years of flawless use, Thunderbird has gotten cranky. Now when I click to open a new email in the in-box, this message pops up instead of the document:

"Not Downloaded. "Only the headers for this message were downloaded from the mail server. "Download the rest of the message."

Supposedly I can download the rest of the message with a click. But most of the time that's not working either. Click . . . nothing happens, but the "trouble" message stays in place. Click again and again and the response is the same: failure to open the email.

Sometimes I'll return to the in-box to try again and find that the header for a single email has multiplied several times. Usually the second or third duplicate will finally open.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to restore this function to normalcy, so a new email in the in-box opens with just one click, I'd be more than happy to hear it!

Version 85.0.2 (64-bit) Upon every startup, FF asks for my system login permissions to install a helper tool, to which I have reluctantly done but it seems to not install anything different yet continues each time to prompt the Helper Tool install. What is the Helper Tool? I can't find any info about it. How do I turn off the prompt?

After the April 11 update, I can no longer access my Roadrunner email. Nor will Thunderbird allow me to access the emails I had downloaded to my PC. Is there a way to uninstall the update? This is the first problem I've had in over 12 years.

Hi All,

I have successfully deployed and configured Firefox to my company through Intune however I was wondering if it is possible to alter the installed Desktop/Start Menu icons to a custom .ico so the end users don't associate it with a browser but thier web based application.

In Intune I can only change the deployed Company Portal app icon but cannot alter the default Desktop/Start Menu icon. I know I can do this manually for the Desktop Icon but for 1200+ users this is not fees able to do manually

I don't know how to solve the problem. I updated the raspberry linux and firefox to the actual version. On my Windows 10 laptop every works fine.

I had a folder on my desktop that I created a couple months ago and then deleted. However, for some reason it keeps coming back, and I've discovered that it happens whenever I download something. This seems to happen regardless of where I save something or where the pop-up for choosing the download destination automatically opens to. It also seems to be specific to firefox, as this doesn't seem to happen with other browsers.

I should add that it's only the folder itself that comes back. Before I originally deleted it, I emptied its contents and it's only the empty folder that keeps reappearing on my desktop

I downloaded and installed the firefox app and nothing happens. No menu. No tabs. The word "firefox" appears in the upper left corner of my screen and a "." appears under the app, indicating that it is open. The screen "blinked" momentarily when I opened the app. I am a longtime user of Firefox and this same thing happened this morning when I opened the app, which I uninstalled, and then downloaded and installed this new app. Same problem.

I used the same profile on the same computer dual booting between Windows10 and Linux Mint. My mail was stored on the Windows drive. I normally live in Linux. The other day, while on Windows, I let ThunderBird update. When back on Linux, I could not open TBird as the update forced a separation of profiles. I created an account on Linux and I am receiving new mail while on Linux. BUT... my old mail is stuck on Windows. To read that, I have to reboot to Windows. I made a tar ball of my Windows profile folder and copied it to ~/Thunderbird, and after extracting, named the folder per the profile name created on Linux (yxe2p9be.LinuxProfile). I still can not read my email.

Please. How do I copy my historical TBird email from Windows to Linux.

Just a side note to Thunderbird folks. Thank you for what you do. I know it it mostly volunteer. I appreciate the quality and the fact it is free. But (you knew there would be a but) you could have provided for this case. You could have provided an import function to allow one to import between forced split profiles. Not just put up a message that says it no longer is supported. You broke my Thunderbird!
