Since I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 about 2 weeks ago Firefox quite a few times has lost all tabs and tab groups after I close and reopen it. I keep having to replace sessionstore.js with previous.js to restore my tabs. I’ve reinstalled Firefox at least once or twice and have upgraded it a few times and have the latest version right now. This never did happen with Win 7. Restore previous session is always greyed out. Any suggestions?

usually firefox remembers my windows and tabs from the previous session. sometimes instead it will open a very old window from about 2 years ago that has 65 tabs in it. sometimes these are appended before the previous session's tabs. kind of unwieldly. this old window also opens when i choose new window from the file menu. to open a new blank window i have have to tear off a new blank tab.

Firefox 39.0 just installed on my computer and now every time I close out of firefox and then open it again my previous session comes back up automatically. This has not happened previously and I do not think that I changed any setting to get it to do this. How do I get Firefox to stop opening up my previous session?

I have Firefox set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" on startup. Since upgrading to Firefox 41, I've noticed that it doesn't always remember where I've scrolled to in all of the tabs, which it did perfectly before. Typically not every single tab is affected, but usually a decent portion are. Firefox 41.0.1 did not fix the issue.

I would like Firefox to restore my tabs when I start it up, but I do not want it to restore 5 random windows which I closed the day before. How do I close these windows so they stay closed and stop popping up every time I restart? Frequently, Firefox doesn't even open the window I closed last and actually wanted to keep. It is incredibly frustrating. Every time I start Firefox, I get a surprise selection of windows I had once closed.

I have Firefox set to restore previous session. After crash, the restore displays the proper number of tabs, but none of them have the url or page name.

I have restarted Firefox in Safe Mode, and here are a few screen shots showing the tabs, and the files I have in the Macbook Finder.

The tabs that were open at the time of the crash appear to be saved in the history, but I'd like to just restore the session before the crash.

How can I do that?

Thanks!

Firefox Quantum 65.0; Windows 10 Pro; Grammarly, OneTab, RES, uBlock Origin

since about a week ago firefox always saves the open tabs and opens them after restarting the browser. It happens automatically and I can't stop firefox from doing so. I want every tab to be closed when I shut down firefox and they shouldn't automatically be reopened.

The box for Session Restore is unchecked and in about:config browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes is set to zero and firefox still automatically restores the sessions

Firefox crashed, it updated when reopened. No session to restore, made copies of previous.js, recovery.js, upgrade.js in profile and tried renaming to sessionstore.js, nothing works. Just why would you do this... Why do I even bother using Firefox anymore, this has been happening on a constant basis. I'm starting to think even IE is better than this.

Lately, when I have reopened Firefox, the tabs in my sessions have been out-of-date by a day or more. The same is true for every other backup session.

I have Firefox 50.0.2 on Windows 10. Firefox was closed normally. Session Manager has been set to create a new backup every 10 minutes.

Another new issue is session restore reopening every tab at the start of my session instead of opening them only when the tab is accessed, as was the case previously. Is there any way to disable this feature?

I have FF 56.0 x64 on GNU/Linux Debian 9 'stretch' exhibiting strange behaviour.

When I close FF it saves opened tabs as expected, but when I start FF and click on some saved tabs to right-end (with icons and page titles) they become "about:blank" tabs without any history to go back. Look at screenshot to see how it looks now.

It looks like "sessionstore.jsonlz4" file corruption to me. I have backed up recovery.jsonlz4 and sessionstore.jsonlz4 and can send to FF devteam to help reproduce and debug this issue.

This post describes similar "tabs" issues and probably related to this bug: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1175839

Hi there I had a Firefox session of 30 tabs open this morning, some running for several weeks. When restarting I opened the main home page plus a page about darts (which i dont even like) - and accidentally closed it again before restoring the session.

Upon reopening and attempting the usual 'restore previous session' it now thinks the previous session is the one with just the homepage and the darts story - not my orignial 30 tabs.

How do I restore the 30 tabs!? Surely there must be a way. I'm not very firefox savy so haven't tried renaming files etc.

Please help F

Hello everyone,

the last two days firefox 36 does not load or save (I cannot understand) my session. I can see that the sessionstore.js is not empty, the option from the preferences to show my windows and tabs from last time. And I tried to change the options from about:config regarding the sessionstore variables. Can someone help me figure out what is wrong with my browser. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit

thanks, Haris
