Hello,

My remote server supports POP only and the disk space is filling up. So, I wanted Thunderbird to download all emails from all times to the local disk.

But it is downloading only few days and not all mails. Tools >> Account settings >>Synchronization & Storage option is not available to me.

Is there any add-on to do the job or some way to activate the Synchronization & Storage option?

Is there any kind soul to help me out?

In anticipation, Thanks, Gaurab

Thunderbird WIndows - auto-installed update 91.8.1 this morning, Apr.28th.

Incoming emails stopped showing up in the inboxes in all three accounts I have set up.

Can I unroll the update? 91.8.0 was working fine. I use Thunderbird for work - need a solution urgently.

Thanks in advance! Cyril

I've used Thunderbird for many years, problem free. Suddenly, when trying to send a Bcc email, I get this:

Sending of the message failed.

The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.cox.net for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Firefox does not use locally installed font for rendering SVG content.

Firefox 91.7.0esr (64-bit) Windows 10 The local system has the font OCRB (also named OcrbATA) installed in the normal windows location: c:\windows\fonts\ocrbata.ttf

The SVG graphic is loaded from the local file system directly (FILE: not via HTTP: or HTTPS:) by using the Windows File Explorer.

The text in the graphic is specified to use the font family OCRB and I also tried OcrbATA (because Windows font naming is odd and has two different names displayed: the font name: Ocrb and the Full Name: OcrbATA.

The text in the graphic is only displayed in a fallback font (such as the browser specified default font), which produces the wrong rendering.

Looking for the font in the Firefox 'settings' for the "Fonts and Colors" dialog drop down, I see that this font is NOT shown in the list. OCR A is show, which is also installed on the system, but OCRB is not shown. I suspect this may be a symptom of why Firefox isn't making use of the installed OCRB font.

Having looked at a similar thread, I confirmed that "privacy.resistFingerprinting" is at its default of false. And "layout.css.font-visibility.level" is at the default of "3".

Any idea why Firefox, will not make use of the system installed font, when the file to display wants to use that font?

I would attach the SVG to this but the 'Upload Images' dialog only accepts raster images, not vector types like SVG. The attached images show the Windows 10 font dialog for the OCRB font with a sample string rendered, the Character Map for that font, so you can see the glyphs it uses, and the Firefox rendering of the SVG file which is just using the default firefox font to render, despite the text specifying OcrbATA as the font family in the SVG. For example:

 <tspan font-family="OcrbATA" fill="rgb(120,120,120)" font-size="332" >Special Symbol Testing:</tspan>

I accepted the upgrade of Thunderbird 78 and after that I cannot send emails. I can receive, but not send. I have checked with my provider, RCN and all is well on their end. I have checked with my security NORTON, and all is well on their side, even disabled the firewalls to prove it. So, there is something stopping email on Thunderbird side. I am not a techy person, so I need some serious guidance to know what to look at or to look for. and I am very very frustrated at this time. Thank you.

I am unable to upload the pdf of the snip for you review: It Reads: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.rcn.com failed. The Server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Thank you for your assistance.

<tools> <Clear recent history> asks whether I want to delete Browsing history cookies cache

I have 7800 entries in cache. Are these "scratch" or "temporary" files or are these files I have kept in folders over a few decades? I want to keep the messages that I put in folders.

Is Browsing history just links to Firefox I clicked on inside messages?

Is Thunderbird an "insecure app" from Gmail's viewpoint?

Two recent emails from Gmail state on 30 May 2022 "insecure apps" will no longer work with Gmail. Despite warnings, Gmail don't state if Thunderbird is an insecure app, are they trying to force users onto their clunky front end through fear and misinformation? I have been using Thunderbird as a front end for Gmail for at least 15 years and never had security issues.

Login to Facebook and Nextdoor and probably many more social media platforms can now be done with your Gmail password. Both of those social media platforms have real security issues; therefore I find Gmail's advance warnings contradictory in the extreme.

To reiterate wil Thunderbird be affected, if so can its configuration be tweaked allow continued use of Thunderbird as a Gmail front end after 30 May 2022?

Thankyou, Rich
