How do I download an excel spreadsheet without having to save it? Is this a "new feature" or a bug. I was able to do it previously but now it makes me save all excel spreadsheets before I can open them.

Sometimes, I'll click a new tab, and "something" happens. It's like it tries to create a new tab, yet it's just a half-formed nothing that you can't interact with. And when this happens, Firefox is destined to eventually crash / become unresponsive. I literally have to reboot to get Firefox working again. I haven't tried logging out. That would probably work, too.

This also happens when moving new tabs, but I've only notice that happen on tabs with Youtube.com open.

All im getting is youtube videos of how to do it for chrome and you require an extension!

I've been looking everywhere to cancel the automatic download of files into the "download" folder when I ONLY need to open them for a short usage from a web page . Now I've got to manually wipe out the "download" folder on my computer... very annoying as now I sometimes don't know which files I've download and which have been put there from a Open only action. Why do I have to use another folder for my download than Firefox for temporary files???

I want to know if Firefox will go back with that stupid idea or if I need to look for another browser?

Hi - I'm signed into firefox sync on two different computers, both running Ubuntu 20.04. I can tell that they're connected to the same account because I can see the other computer in the list for "Send tab to device".

However, the bookmarks aren't syncing - one computer has the full set, the other (newly set up) computer still has the default bookmarks.

When I check `about:sync-log`, I see these lines:

That is, it seems to think that bookmark syncing is disabled - however, I have bookmark syncing enabled, as you can see in the attached screenshot.

During an online transaction I get into a loop where Firefox reports "Firefox prevented this page from reloading automatically". I respond with Allow but the situation repeats. I have changed the settings to standard for this particular website, but the problem persists and appears to be the reason that the transaction eventually fails. What other settings or adjustments do I need to make to allow Firefox to automatically reload a page on a trusted site?

Both online.simplii.com and cibc.com display the same behaviour when selecting a date from a drop-down menu. When the date is 2 digits, the second digit is cut off. (Note: Simplii Financial is owned by CIBC, so I wonder if they use the same code...)

Per an article on yahoo news, I decided to clear data by going to: Settings->Privacy & Security->Cookies&Site Date->clear data

In hindsight, this turned out to be a mistake. Previously when using yahoo mail, it let me stay logged in for two weeks. Now I have to log in each time. There are also 2 or 3 other sites that logged me in automatically, but now have to log in every time.

How can I undo what I did?

Recently some programs, such as Word, are opening behind the browser window, so the only way I can access them is by shrinking and moving the browser. I also find that when a program does open in front of the browser, (as did Excel just now, I am unable to pull the browser window back to the fore without shrinking or closing the app window - ie closing excel - as I did just now. I have tested this in Chrome and Edge, and they seem to behave just fine, so the problem would appear to be with Firefox settings, but I can't locate a setting to tackle this.

PSA:

The snap version of Firefox (as implemented in Ubuntu Desktop 22.04) will not open a Zoom meeting link.

The alternatives are: - Google Chrome, etc. - Borrow a Windows machine and log into your meeting there.

What a disaster.

Lately I've found on a number of occasions that I've pasted the URL of an image into the Firefox address bar, but instead of the image loading, it's somehow led to a page opening - even though the URL STILL shows that it's an image and not a page?

Here's an example: https://64.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0p5jy7Lhh1qzfdsjo9_250.gif If I paste this GIF URL into the address bar, it often loads a page which says "tumblr" in the corner. But sometimes it just loads the image!?

Any idea what's going on here?

I recently changed the Privacy & Security settings in Firefox v100.0.2 (Mac) to "Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all Windows". Since that change, even though Google is my default search engine, all searches take me to a window that says: "You’ve enabled HTTPS-Only Mode for enhanced security, and a HTTPS version of www.searchbaron.com is not available." I did a google search and the recommendation was to delete the searchbaron extension in Extensions but there isn't one there. I like the security of only going to https sites and if possible would like to keep that setting.

Does anyone know what is going on and how I can fix this? Thanks.

"When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is happening - even though the box is unchecked. Only in favorites bar, not in web page or Firefox homepage Shortcuts (1 row or 2 rows) or Recent activity.

It's very irritating, so i hope there is a solution...?

I tried printing in FIREFOX while using PDF and receipts from Amazon and HP. each time the fonts are HUGE, but not if I use Chrome or Edge. Tried your suggestions and that didn't help. I see another user has had the same exact issue with no avail. I'd really like to get this issued fixed. I like FIREFOX and want to use it whenever possible, but being unable to print makes it a problem. I would appreciate a real solution. Thank you in advance, Alan.
