Does anyone know how to do this?

To give a better description:

1) I partially type a website I've visited into the address bar and the history recommendations show up. For example, I type "yout", the address bar shows "youtube.com"

2) I middle mouse click on the "youtube.com" recommendation to open it in a new tab.

3) Firefox is instantly swapping me to that tab and ignoring the behavior I changed for tabs.

I have "browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground" set to true. When I use middle mouse on a link on a website, the behavior works as intended. The link opens in a separate tab but keeps me in the same tab from which I clicked.

On my MacBookAir (M2) audio on a lot of sites is out off sync (Imgur, X) but not on YouTube or streaming services (netflix and others). I restarted FF in save mode: no improvement. FF is up to date. OSX is up to date.

If I open a website in Safari there is no problem: audio/video perfectly in sync; gifs on Imgur.com for instance.

Not sure but on my MacBookPro (Intel) there was no such a problem.

Suggestions?

Hello,

We have deloped a search engine https://caziti.com. Our main focus is on privacy and integrity. We are far from a perfect search engine but our target is more on tech and be able to deliver unique search results, since our search engine has been completley built by us, and we are not dependant on any third parties, makes us able to do this. How would we go about being a predefined search engine in the firefox browser?

Best regards

On new window (`Ctrl-N`) I want the focus to be on the url bar, not the homepage. I believe this is the default behavior if no homepage is set, but I want to set this behavior independent of the homepage setting.

Is there a setting for this?

Same as below, but solution did not work for me.

Hi there.

I like Firefox / Mozilla. However, Chrome wants to be my default and I want to stay with Firefox / Mozilla. When I click on a link in my email or an article with a link, Chrome takes over! It has been happening for about a week or 2, and I don't want it to happen. Do you have any ideas about how I can stop this, please?

Thanks in anticipation, Gerry Austin [email address]

How to define which Mozilla component invoke TCP connection to thrid-party site on startup?

Hi All!

I have a problem with the launch and operation of Mozilla Firefox/Seamonkey. Sometimes the browser gets stuck for minute until the sites start opening. At the same time, when browser starts up, I see activity that was not initiated by me.

After some time of use, the system crashes with a blue screen with an error in the ndis.sys driver.

These problems began to occur after one of the next FireFox updates. Previously, the system had been working without a blue screen for many years. If I do not start FireFox, the error does not recur. Also, if I make filtering TCP connections with the site in the RU zone at the external firewall, FireFox works stably.

I want to understand which process/component/setup entry initiates this activity. Also, I don't want the browser to try to get any information from sites in the RU zone.

FireFox version: 115.7.0esr (64-bit) System version: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1

Thank you!

Opening a new empty tab is very slowly with the spinning wheel (about 10 to 20 seconds). With no other tab opened. Closing a tab also takes about more than 10 seconds (empy tab, no other tab).

Can not open web sites : almost every times nothings happens. But sometimes it works. Firefox process has tenths of child processes which are <defunct>

What I have tried : - Remove all configurations files (see list below) - Install a fresh Firefox - Restarts the computer (MacBook Pro Intel) - Launch Firefox

That means that I have an empty profile, no external module, no account synchronisation, no history, no bookmarks, zilch, nada ...

Repeated the previous procedures several times the last few months. With : - Mac OS X Ventura 13.5.1, Firefox 117.0 and Firefox 119.0 - Max OS X Sonoma 14.1, Firefox 119.0.1 - Mac OS X Sonoma 14.1.1, Firefox 120.0 - Mac OS X Sonoma 14.2.1, Firefox 122.0

Firefox has a normal behaviour for a few days after each system upgrade. Then the problems comes back.

Other browsers (Chrome, Safari) works fine and smoothly.

But ! TorBrowser, which is built on Firefox, encounter the same problems.

Configurations files that I delete : - ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.crashreporter.plist - ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist - ~/Library/Caches/org.mozilla.firefox - ~/Library/Caches/org.mozilla.crashreporter - ~/Library/Caches/Firefox - ~/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Firefox - ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.mozilla.firefox.savedState - ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.mozilla.updater.savedState - ~/Library/WebKit/org.mozilla.firefox - ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox - ~/Library/Application\ Support/Mozilla /Library/Application\ Support/Mozilla

Can not find anything to try.

Any idea ?

I use Firefox on Raspberry pi os. I have a lot of help files saved in mht format. How can I open these files in Firefox? Chrome supports such files without additional configuration, but I would not like to use this browser on Raspbian, since it consumes much more resources than Firefox. It is undesirable to use a different format.

Many files and folders have accumulated under the <profile>/storage/archives/0/ folder. The root folders therein are apparently named according to the yyyy-MM-dd date format. The dates range from ca. 1-2 years old.

The only information I could find about this folder was via ChatGPT, but that is not a reliable source of course.

Can I safely delete these folders and/or exclude them from a profile backup?
