The question remains: In Thunderbird, when I close the In Box, how do I re-open it? Seems to me there should be a switch either under View or Window in the Menu Bar. No such thing. Frustrating that accessing such a simple, common tool is (presumably) buried somewhere.

Good morning, I installed Thunderbird - 128.3.2 - on a new computer with windows 11 PRO 64bit. My email is - carlofarioli@hotmail.com - the problem is that only the INBOX and TRASH folders appear. I can't find the SUBSCRIBE function to activate all the missing folders. On the old computer with windows10 PRO, Tunderbird 115.5.0 is installed and everything works fine... Can you help me solve the problem, thanks

Up to now I have been using the FireTray add-on, this is no longer working in Thunderbird 60 even if I enable legacy add-ons. I do believe that Thunderbird is making a catastrophic mistake by cutting itself off from a large part of its add-on ecosystem, but I don’t want to debate that here. What I think is really missing is some form of indicator that new e-mail has arrived (not unread but new) that is not transient. If I leave my screen for a while with a minimised TB process running, I will now have to maximise the window and check all accounts (actually, all folders that might receive new mail via filtering) to see if I have missed a new mail notification while I was away. The same applies if I was at the screen but focused on something else. With FireTray I would have seen a change in the tray icon. Now it seems that I have to check the folder pane for a colour change in the names of all candidate accounts or folders. I cannot believe that TB developers want to force us to do constantly inspect the window, so I’d like to know how I am supposed to be able to check if new email has arrived without having to maximise the window. Any suggestions?

Hello, I have the following problem with the current version of Thunderbird (115.9.0 64-bit "Supernova"):
When writing an e-mail (no matter if only HTML format, or HTML and plain text) no list items are displayed (neither unsorted nor numbered).
Everything else, such as inserting tables, smileys, etc. works.
If I create a document with several list elements and sub-elements (indented elements) in Word as a test and copy this into the message in Thunderbird, the list elements are displayed from the second level onwards.
Even if I insert the whole thing as HTML code (ul, ol, li, ...) the same thing happens.
It is a fresh installation. I wanted to switch from Outlook to Thunderbird. However, this is really suboptimal:-(
Can anyone help? Many thanks and best regards Patrick
The option to save the password does not work. It hangs up and never returns. What is wrong?

With the new html rather than the old style css options I am looking for the way to:-
1) Provide lines under each entry in the inbox etc (used to be easy)
2) Possibly do "zebra" lines on inbox entries
3) Add vertical separators between icons in the menu
4) Probably impossible, but.... I usually use Thunderbird 2 (yes 2!) for pop mail and sending indecure stuff, but looking to move too SSL mail, hence trying 115. I have used the old V2 profile and works, but, I use 8 pop accounts and under V2 you just had a single joint inbox (and single folder for the rest) for all the accounts. Worked fine and therefore didn't have a long list on the left hand pane. Still works but IF i try to edit any of the accounts in \tools\account settings it brings up error:- "The Local Directory path "F:\Users\?????\Mail" is not suitable for message storage. Please choose another directory." I know this mixed setting was removed back in the earlier versions, but why? If I make changes, then they do stick...I can also edit the entries directly in prefs.js but if I want to add an account, then I have to use the profile in V2, (and delete the .msf files otherwise does od things), then add the new account then move the profile back to V115.
This seems very long winded and have no idea why this great feature was removed...any one know how to get back?

I want to send a message to a lot of people as BCC letters. The default address is TO. It seems I have to change each one separately and manually to BCC. Very tedious work. Is there a way to rubber-band them and change them all to BCCs with one action?
Uploading a screenshot doesn't work. I will try again, but I suppose the above question is clear enough.
How do I turn off your junk mail filter. You keep marking emails junk after I have labeled them not junk.

I lost power to my PC when Thunderbird was running (thanks electrician who tripped the whole fusebox!). Since then despite everything I have tried Thunderbird will not open my mailbox. I get the screen 'Set Up Your Existing Email Address' shown in the screenshot. I can see my address book.
I have tried creating a new profile, copying across all the data from the profile in use until yesterday and changing the profiles.ini to point to the new profile. If I start using the profile manager (thunderbird -p) it shows the new profile but if I click it then I still get the same screen shown in the screenshot.
After looking at other support pages I tried deleting the .lock files and rebooting, still the same.
Under the troubleshooting information I can see the correct profile folder and open it, if I click about::profiles then the correct profile is in use.
It is a bit more complicated as I had the profile on a NAS drive but I have created a new profile on the PC and copied all the data in the profile directory to the local profile folder. Still the same results.
Edited: After trying a couple of other things - import into a new profile from the currant one, still same results, and changing the installs.ini file to match the profiles.ini one, also same results, I have uploaded a couple more pictures after looking again at other support questions.
I am on version 115.10.1 (32-bit)
Thanks for any help.

I tried searching the FAQs and did a google search first. This did not work, all I discovered is F9 turns the contacts sidepane on and off, but doesn't fix the problem with the pane being wrong.
Until a very recent update (last week or two at most) when I hit write, the contacts pane in the write window showed my address book. Now it shows some type of search I can't use as I have to see all the entries to see which ones I want to send an email to. In some cases I have multiple entries for a person based on them having multiple email addresses for different types of email. Trying to remember which ones I want DOES NOT WORK for me. I can only get this behavior back by running in safe mode. As an alternative I need Thunderbird to save my safe mode setting so I don't have to reconfigure safe mode every time I have to reboot windows or restart Thunderbird. I currently have it coming up in safe mode by default
I tried to remove and then install an older version of Thunderbird and the bad contact pane on the left was there. I can't find any setting to change the pane from the wrong one to the old one I need. I'd rather not try reinstalling win7 pro from scratch to fix this, assuming that would fix it.
I'm running windows7 pro 64 bit

Hello Mozilla Thunderbird forum, I have a Thunderbird latest release installation that fetches mails in 2 different ways with the same imap.orange.fr server and settings. The 1st account works as pop protocol: that means that messages are loaded locally, deleted from the server ; and no mail subfolders are present in the Thunderbird interface. The 2nd account synchronizes the mails and all remote subfolders in the local interface. To me, the 1st account is working weirdly. But I can't understand the reason of that. Have you some idea about that? with the best regards, Bernard (from France, sorry for the bad language ;-))
On-line instructions say there should be a "Remove" control, but I do not see it.
