Hi,

The highlighted process sometimes goes up to as high as 55% ish CPU for hours on end, making my computer lag for no reason. If I individually close the process, nothing happens, and the issue fixes itself (firefox runs fine with it closed).

It is concerning since I could not find anything on google about this process, is this some kind of malware? I did run a MalwareBytes scan on my entire computer, and nothing turned up.

Please let me know what that process is.

Hi

Any suggestions about why the display might be glitching in Thunderbird... attached image as an example. Missing letters and things that sometimes reappear when you mouse over them. Occasionally get neon green lines too. Something to do with my computer's graphics settings? Doesn't happen all the time.

I have the latest version of Thunderbird.

Thanks.

I have been using Firefox on OpenSuse Tumbleweed. When media is playing in Firefox, the media player widget says, "Firefox is playing Media". There is no thumbnail or title. I have tried on multiple websites, and all are the same.

media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled is set to true.

Chromium on the same system shows the title and progress bar, but no thumbnail.

Hello. I'm Android Developer at Nord Security @NordPass password manager. I just wanted to ask about credit card autofill on Firefox Android browser. As far as I understand, it's not possible at the moment. Do you have any plans on making it possible? Or maybe there are any settings that need to be set before autofilling? I'm not talking about internal Firefox password manager solution, but about autofilling Credit Cards using another password manager such as 1Password, LastPass, NordPass etc.

Thanks in advance :) Zilvinas

Hi,

Running into a strange problem with FireFox on Windows that I cannot replicate on IOS and Android devices.

I created a custom font and it seems that at 100% zoom my characters are getting chopped on the bottom. At 90% and 120% its renders correctly.

I have attached a sample screenshot with the font at 120% and the font at 100% resized so they are equal in total pixel volume to illustrate the difference.

Already looked at the following:

  • Turning off ClearType in Windows.
  • Various settings using the font-smoothing css property:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/d.../font-smooth

Neither of these seem to have any effect. Because my font is meant to have an old school video game style and feel the way that it renders, trying to smooth it over has a negative effect.

I realize the fix may not be something that can be changed in FireFox itself, but if anyone who has experience with this type of issue can offer any advice or guidance it would be greatly appreciated.

You can play around with the zoom levels with my font here: https://www.stevesgames.com/about

This morning I clicked the button to download my latest e-mails. As they hit the In Box all the messages already there just disappeared! Gone! Not in In Box, not in Trash, not anywhere! Some of them were important business messages requiring a reply. This is a disaster!

Is there any way to recover these lost messages?

Is there any way to prevent this from happening again, short of abandoning Thunderbird and finding a new e-mail program?

I have been using Thunderbird for a couple weeks now, and today is the first time this happened.

When I send an email from Thunderbird to Gmail, the formatting ends up strangely.

First screen shot: message being composed in Thunderbird.

Second screenshot: result received in Gmail (note that the paragraph is weirdly compressed and there's a lot of extra whitespace, which I don't normally see in Gmail messages).

I've tried using Paragraph, Body Text, and Preformat, as well as Fixed and Variable Width - doesn't change anything. I've also set mail.wrap_long_lines to false in the Config Editor - didn't fix the issue. Any other ideas?

Hi,

I have for some time (over a year) been using a remote server as a SOCKS5 proxy for Firefox so I can bypass my local ISPs filtering.

The proxy connection is setup using an SSH tunnel like this:

ssh -D 8080 -q -C -N -f root@<remote server> That sets up port 8080 on my local machine to listen for connections which will be forwarded to ssh on the remote server acts as aSOCKS4/SOCKS5 proxy.

    -D [bind_address:]port
Specifies a local “dynamic” application-level port forwarding. This works by allocating a socket
to listen to port on the local side, optionally bound to the specified bind_address. Whenever a
connection is made to this port, the connection is forwarded over the secure channel, and the
application protocol is then used to determine where to connect to from the remote machine.
Currently the SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 protocols are supported, and ssh will act as a SOCKS
            server.

Tried it today and it doesn't work any more. I've attached a picture of my Firefox Proxy settings and a picture of the Firefox version I am currently running. plus a picture of the error I get when I try to access the BBC website using Firefox via the proxy.

I've tried all combinations of "Proxy DNS when using SOCKS v5" and "Enable DNS over HTTPS" with no effect. I've also tried it from "Troubleshooting Mode" and the same thing happens.

I also tried accessing https://www.bbc.co.uk through the same proxy by using the command:

curl --silent --location --socks5 localhost:8080 https://www.bbc.co.uk

and it worked perfectly.

I'd be grateful if you could have a look at it and let me know what is wrong.

Thanks, Alan

Hey, so I've just spent the past weekend attempting to troubleshoot this issue and nothing is working.

The issue: Firefox either crashes (only Linux) or slows down drastically alongside a CPU temp spike (Linux and Windows). Temps are 25 Celsius at idle, 30-40 while using Firefox for the first few minutes, and then it spikes up to 55-65 Celsius and never drops back down to normal unless I close the browser. Chromium-based browsers like Chrome, Brave, Edge all run fine with no crashes, no slow down, and normal temps.

Things I've tried to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Reinstalled Firefox
  • Tried troubleshoot mode
  • Updated drivers
  • Enabled and disabled hardware acceleration
  • Made some configurations (media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled set to true, accessibility.force_disabled set to 1)
  • Tried both Wayland and Xorg on Linux, changed the window protocol to wayland instead of xwayland
  • Changed operating systems (Fedora, Arch Linux, Windows 10)
  • Reinstalled Fedora and Arch
  • Disabled XMP profile in BIOS
  • Performed Memtest (no errors)

And a few of my crash reports:

Perhaps I'm spending too much time into this but I really want to know what is causing this and whether it's pertaining to my hardware or Firefox itself. Any help appreciated.

Hi - I'm using TB on Ubuntu 22.04, on a Lenovo X1 Yoga laptop. When I don't have an additional monitor connected, TB displays everything at a sensible size on the laptop screen. But as soon as I connect a 24" monitor (configured as an extended desktop), the TB window on the laptop screen changes so that all the text, message lists, everything is tiny - too small to be usable. View->Zoom is disabled (except when viewing the Settings screen), and changing the default font size makes no different to anything. As soon as I disconnect the external monitor, the TB window on the laptop screen immediately reverts to being a sensible size again. If I drag the TB window onto the external monitor screen, it remains unreadably small, but with more illegible items in the mailbox and message lists. Both screens have the same pixel resolution (1920x1080), but are very different sizes (13"/24"). and therefore use different DPIs. It seems likely that this is the cause of the problem - but how can I get TB to display at a sensible size on the laptop screen when I have the other screen connected? Grateful for any help! Thanks Nik PS - why is Zoom disabled when mailboxes or messages are selected? If it doesn't zoom, what's the point of it?

Hello:

Color changes were simple when using an old Thunderbird (around 68. or so) but after embarking on an update process (now 102.6.0) the color choices quit working.

I can select a color during the composition phase and the color shows. If I look at the message after it is sent (in the sent folder), the color change(s) do NOT show. Everything is black. Also, there is no color change shown in the message that is received.

I've tried changed HTML preference changes, to 'never' override colors, to use (or not) system colors...no change I make to the composition settings have made a difference. TB knows I am changing colors because those color changes do happen in the composition window.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Suggestions for Firefox for Android

Since the built-in password manager is not good enough in terms of security and functionality, (and I don't think it will be good enough for the foreseeable future), it would actually be a good idea to build an app instead of the built-in one, or to choose a third party app as a partner as an official recommendation, and so forth.

I find the browser's ad-blocking features to be very unorganized, repetitive, and not easy to use. I wish you could build a comprehensive enough and personalized built-in pan-ad blocker.

And please allow the beta version's custom "add-ons collection" to be added to the official version

Anyway, there are many problems and many solutions, I hope Firefox will be better and better.

Thanks.
