I upgraded to Thunderbird 91.10.0 I got a message saying that my profile is not compatible with this version, I created a new profile. Now I lost all folders, address book and filters. How can I recover my data?

I cannot import from Outlook 2019 to Thunderbird. I have created my first email account, and it's (yikes!) pulling from Microsoft 365. (This is with an email currently administered by GoDaddy, so I doubt I'm the only one having this problem.) But I can't pull in the old emails and folders, etc., from Outlook 2019 on my computer.

Windows 10. (I think this is the only way I can get my email set up on my new Windows 11 computer, and I happy to drop Outlook anyway.)

Why is it that upon opening my Mail, if the "Trash" file is not highlighted, Thunderbird will not download my mail to me? If I forget to do this at the end of my previous session, I have to highlight the "trash" file, exit the program and then restart my computer to receive my mail.

I have Windows 11 on a Dell computer. This started about 2 months ago.

since a lot of years I´m user or thunderbird. Normally after some weeks or month I´ve got a request to download a new version. But since the last one or zwo month, every 1 oder 2 days I get this request. In the last 10 days I´ve done the download/install 3 times, but today again I´ve got the request for download a new version. I think, something is not ok. What´s the problem ??

Hello, I installed thunderbird on Fedora Linux via snapstore and there is an issue that after every update the icon in the dock doesn't stack and there are two icons of the same application. I'm fixing it everytime by adding the line: StartupWMClass=thunderbird into the file: thunderbird_thunderbird.desktop

However after next update it's erased again. Could you add "StartupWMClass=thunderbird" to every update in .desktop file.

Hi Since Google blocked my Windows 7, Windows Live Mail app, I have tried several times to set up my gmail account on Thunderbird but have been unsuccessful. On the account set up page, I enter my name, email account and password, Thunderbird automatically configurs the server settings. Clicking Done, opens a gmail page asking for my password and then asks me to allow Thunderbird to access my account. I select Allow and then the Thunderbird page produces a yellow box with black writing stating that login refused because of incorrect username, password or configuration. I want to move away from using gmail on Google, so any advice you can provide would be helpful. Regards Alan

As google have stopped me from using thunderbird V91.9.1 with gmail and the comments say update to the latest thunderbird. Well... tried that. Followed the instructions to set up and import my profile. I now have 3 accounts all with identical details. That should be easy to sort out??? So let's try it with gmail. Nope, just hangs there saying "sending mail". Luckily enough I was able to remove the latest version and re install the old. Also lucky that I saved the old profile. It's taken a lot of messing about to get back to where I was a few hours ago. Tried a new install on a windows 10 laptop, same thing Surely these things are tested in Beta??? Not impressed at all.

Hi - I have a laptop running Windows 10 that had an old version of Thunderbird installed (v.78) which had been working fine but not used for some time. I wanted to transfer my Profile (latest version) from another computer and re-installed Thunderbird at v.102 onto the "new" laptop. When manually setting up the email account I get stuck at "checking password" and setup hangs. I tried uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller and did a new installation but still get the same problem. The email account is a POP 3 mailbox and the outgoing server is SMTP - all manual settings are correct and the same as I have on the other "old" pc that I want to transfer my working account/profile from. I cannot locate a solution on the community help pages and hoped that you could assist please. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Many thanks and kind regards Graham Shepherd

Firefox-Thunderbird: When AT&T separated from Yahoo in 2017 I still could get incoming mail through Yahoo but not send anything out. My friend who installed and took care of it all sadly was killed in a farm accident, and now I am in limbo as I could not find anybody knowledgeable to help and get me a working account back. Can anybody help? I am 89 years old.-

Never mind, I found the old Profile which had all my old emails and folders.

I'm attempting to import Thunderbird (and Firefox) profiles from a PC running Ubuntu 18.04 to another PC running Ubuntu 22.04.

I have no experience with snap, which is some sort of package manager (?) for Ubuntu.

I can locate the TB and FF profiles on the old 18.04 PC no prob.

It looks to me like the TB profile in 22.04 is still where it used to be: Home/ .thunderbird/ xxxxxxxx.default If nothing's changed, I'm hoping importing is still done the way it used to be. Copy the profile I want from the 18.04 PC. Then go to the 22.04 PC, delete or rename the TB profile, and paste the old profile. Restart the PC, TB comes up just like it did on the old PC with all the data.

Can anyone verify that for me?

I know this is a Thunderbird forum, not Firefox, so please forgive me for asking. On the 22.04 PC the Firefox profile is stashed inside the snap folder. Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default

Does that complicate things, or can I drop the old profile into the correct folder within snap? Part of me thinks it can't be that easy but I sure am hoping.

I use THUNDERBIRD for 2 different GMAIL accounts which I migrated from APPLE MAIL. Both accounts do have subfolders which I created when I was still with APPLE MAIL. All those folders and subfolders do apear correctly on THUNDERBIRD. The problem is that one of the two accounts does not syncronise the content of the folders (meaning the e-mails). I checked settings in THUNDERBIRD and they are identical for both accounts. I have no explanation for why one account does syncronise fully while the other does not syncronise the content of the created folders.

Thank you very much in advance for your help. It is highly appreciated.

I try to 'Import' my gmail settings from MailBird (which I hate but it works) into Thunderbird, BUT when I, in 'account settings' , choose to Import, the next screen (on my W10Pro64) has no way for me to re-size it : so the very bottom of your page isn't avail to me to click on any "Accept" or "Yes" or whatever IS the next link to continue the process of actually Importing any settings from any other email client. I've been a happy Tbird customer for decades .. so this is very frustrating, and is a consequence of Google makine some change in their " IMAP " settings structure ..

I exported emails from tutanota in .eml file format. When I dragged them into Thunderbird, I noticed a few didn't seem to open properly. They open fine in Outlook so the .eml file does not seem corrupt on the face of it and even in Notepad++ it decodes the message body when I right click to decode that section. Any ideas? I can send a sample .eml or upload it here if there is a way. Thank you.

Hi. First time TB user. I've d/loaded and installed v102 as I want to move from using my desktop outlook client. However, when I set up access to my hotmail account, emails appear, but not the address book nor the calendar. I also set up access to a second btinternet email account and with that I got emails and the address book (different one). I've read a lot of posts about using Lightning and various addons to get calendars and address book but these all seem to be for prior releases of TB and I understand these are now integreated in v102. Can anyone advise please? I'm on Windows 10, and my hotmail account is on the normal hotmail/exchange/outlook/outlook365 server, whatever MS is currently calling it. Many thanks for any advice. Alex
