I asked a PC repair shop to move the local profile from C:\ to D:\. The result is as follows: The profile at D:\ is used to store my mails according to account settings: Account Name: Wolfgang Local Directory D:\Thunderbird\Profiles\uec9qce6.default\Mail\Local Folders Troubleshooting Information "about profiles" says: Profile: default This is the profile in use ... Local Directory: C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\uec9qce6.default The profile manager only knows the profile default

How can I tell thunderbird to switch completely to D:\ (where all my mails are currently stored)? I need to free the disk space in C:\

Thanky you for your help

I have upgraded to the 64 Bit version of Beta and also installed Daily. The Beta install successfully upgraded all my profile settings, including address books, to the 64 Bit version. However, Daily did not do so. I pointed the mail folder to my upgraded profile and that links email between the Beta and Daily versions. However, when I try to import MAD, CSV, of LDIF files into Daily, the import fails.

Is there a way to have Daily use the same address book(s) as Beta?

Thanks and look forward to hearing back from someone.

Hello, Every time I restart Firefox or it crashes or power cuts or anything, place.sqlite file gets corrupted and I have to replace the new file with the .corrupt file. This has been happening for over a year now, but my computer is always on and I turn it off maybe once every 4-5 months unless I'm forced to restart by a software or by power cuts or stuff. Lately I have been having issues with my Windows and I have to restart my computer quite often and it is very annoying. This happens whether I close Firefox with the X or using the Exit button or even if I keep it open and restart the computer. My places file is 75MBs. I have the same one since 2014. I'm using Windows 10 and latest Firefox edition. Any ideas?

Thunderbird can't send messages longer than ~930 characters

Ubuntu: 20.04 LTS Kernel: 5.13.0-40-generic Thunderbird: 91.7.0 (64 bit)

Since starting service with an new ISP, I have been having problems with Thunderbird outgoing mail (incoming works fine). I did not see this problem with my previous ISP.

In both plain text and HTML formats, if the body of the email is greater than approx. 930 characters, when I click <Send>, the progress window goes to 100% sent, then hangs and eventually times out with the message not being sent. It shows an error message:

"Sending of message failed The message could not be sent usin Outgoing server for an unknown reason. Pleas verify that your Outgoing server settings are correct and try again."

I have contacted the new ISP about this and they have no idea what is causing this except it is not a problem with their SMTP host. All email settings are as directed by the new ISP.

I have confirmed this on 2 computers, both running the same software by creating messages with known character counts of over 1000 characters, created in a basic text editor, and progressively deleting characters until it is successfully sent and recounting the characters.

EDIT: After reinstalling Windows 10 and Thunderbird, I attempted so send an email with a 78Kb attachment, which failed with the message:

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.seaside.ns.ca was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.

Further searching on the Web has led me to looking at an old thread:

https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/2010/10/i-cant-sent-mail-networktcpsendbuffer.html

but this had no effect.

I am at a loss, so any possible clues as to what is going on would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I've been using Firefox as my daily driver web browser for at least a year, first on Windows and now more recently on Linux (specs below). The PC itself is the same, the only thing to change was the OS. Ever since moving to Linux, I've had this problem with crashing. I have two monitors and I will usually snap the browser to half of one screen while I do other things on the rest of my display space. However, most of the time when I try to drag the browser window off of its half of the screen, all of my Firefox windows crash, with an error message about not being able to send a crash report (see attached image). This has been happening with multiple browser versions, both the official repository release as well as the Flatpak. No other application has behaved like this.

System details: OS: Manjaro Linux x86_64 Kernel: 5.17.1-3-MANJARO x86_64 DE: Plasma 5.24.4 WM: KWin CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Memory: 15982.8 MiB GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (amdgpu driver in use)

If I receive an Excel spreadsheet (either .xls or .xlsx) or a Word document (.docx) as an attachment in Thunderbird it will only open in Read Only mode. I can save it & then open and it is fine but I cannot simply open the attachment directly without it being in Read only mode. I cannot uncheck the Properties "Read Only" check box because it is greyed out.

[Later note added: Similar problem applies to jpegs where you can't rotate the opened attachment (ie this is a kind of non-editing mode too)]

The yellow "Warning" bar that permitted editing is no longer appearing.

Something seems to be preventing this yellow bar showing & that is why I cannot "give permission to edit". Is this a config issue ?

This problem does not occur if opening from webmail or Windows Live Mail, only on Thunderbird.

Same issue on Windows 7 (yes I know it is not supported) and Windows 10. I have Thunderbird 91.9.0 (release update channel) on both.

I have several email accounts and the issue occurs with any email account and whether POP3 or IMAP. Also with Word/Excel attachments to emails stored in Local Folders which used to open fine.

It is kind of like Thunderbird is trying to force me to save the file rather than open.

This problem has only arisen following latest update (91.9.0).

I have tried opening in Troubleshoot (Safe) Mode with add-ons disabled and the problem still exists.

Can anyone tell me what to do about this please ? How can I make Thunderbird allow direct opening of an attachment in normal editing mode as it used to do ? How do I get the yellow warning bar back please ?

What, if anything, do I change in config editor to make the yellow bar reappear ?

Thanks for any help.

I have been searching for a solution for over five hours and three different Thunderbird updates. My version of Thunderbird is 91.9.0 (32-bit). I have found several suggestion on things to do, but they are all for prior versions and the UI has changed so they all refer to pathways to find the default incoming message text size that does not match this version. I have tried every font size input I can find, setting all to 20 (larger than I need but immediately obvious when it works) and one of them did change all of the incoming message text sizes, but when I next reopened Thunderbird (for an update), it no longer persisted.

Thanks in advance, Richard Aronson

I had Thunderbird running fine under Ubuntu 20.04 and built up contacts and calendar events. i loved it.

I have now upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 and found Thunderbird has made a new installation and a new .default file. I no longer have my contacts and calendar events.

If we call my data rich original file old.default as the old file and the new.default file as my new empty file with a few recent emails, how can I merge old.default and new.default please?

I NEED to be able to print my emails from my laptop so I have GOT to get this figured out. Please help!

Before version 98 of Firefox, it would remember where I downloaded files to based on what site I'm downloading the file from. For example: when I would download a statement PDF from American Express, the Firefox download prompt would automatically be navigated to <...documents\records\AmEx\statements>. Then, when I would go to download something like the latest Firefox installer, the download prompt would automatically start in the folder <...programs\standard programs\Firefox>. No navigation needed in either case. Now, with version 98, all Firefox can remember is the last place I downloaded to, with no memory of site context. (This includes sites I've been to more than once since the update to version 98.)

This was a very convenient, time-saving feature. Is there any way to restore this site-contextual memory of download directories?

(I tried searching through existing questions, but my apologies if I missed an existing question on this topic.)

Thank you!

Mozilla's website states:

"Numerous features of the kiosk mode are configurable through policy or command line parameters when launching the browser."

However, other than a single example to run kiosk mode as a private window, it doesn't seem to provide any information on how to access such configuration. I couldn't seem to find the information anywhere else either.

How can I configure kiosk mode? Preferably via the CLI, but I'd be interested also to learn what is meant by "configurable through policy".
