BING - I WANT TO GET RID OF IT FOREVER. There are 22 people asking how to do this & not one answer.

how do I get rid of it? I NEVER WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME

Also, I just wanted to restore the Basic Toolbar- that mysteriously disappeared. There was no option for that under the hamburger & more tools. Instead I now have a 3rd toolbar because of the customization options -- & I don't know how to get rid of that/ It appears UNDER my tabs bar.

When I attempt to sign into my Amazon account my email is in the autofill box, so I press continue as instructed. The passward box displays a long line of dots that cover the entire box and will not let me enter a password or erase those dots. I have changed my password and that allows me to sign in to my account ONE TIME. The same thing occurs every time I try to sign in. The autofill is not working properly. If you will clear the autofill on my Amazon account I will enter a password.

I am not computer savvy as a warning. I have Firefox as my browser. I am having trouble because my email Yahoo and other situations are not working right because they say, " 'Java Script' is not enabled." I did not even know what Java Script was. How do I enable Java Script or what is a substitute that Firefox recommends that will work like Java Script? Thank you

Hello there! I'm a long time fan of firefox and use it on all of my devices. I've NEVER had issues with it but for some reason on my computer that has Windows 11 it's been crashing quite a bit.

To clarify, I'll be surfing like always but when I have maybe a third tab (usually youtube) up, then everything just STOPS. This happens at least ONCE a day or sometimes twice. Then, I have to quit firefox forcefully (which windows does say it'll get the crash report). Yet, I never get a crash report from firefox or any such message despite that I do have it checked in my settings.

No other browser I have on this computer has ANY issue (chrome nor edge--both work fine. It's just firefox).

The thing is, I've been all over the internet about this. I've scanned my computer with both windows defender and malwarebytes--found nothing no matter how deeply I scanned. Re-installed firefox several times. Refreshed it as well. Uninstalled/re-installed my extensions. Unchecked 'use hardware acceleration when available.' I updated my drivers, etc. etc.

The only thing that 'seemed' to work was creating a new profile here on firefox. After doing that, I could surf for a whole DAY or two without a crash. But then suddenly today it crashed like normal (again when I was on youtube). I haven't tried using firefox in safemode to see if it crashes because the crashes are random and could happen at any time in the day. Just seems like a lot of time in safemode when I need to be working.

Please advise! All of my other computers (either on windows 10 or on mac/android) have ZERO issues. Once more, this computer handles chrome/microsoft edge just fine but for some reason my windows 11 computer is having trouble with firefox (and firefox ONLY) no matter what I do. I hope you can help and also help me understand why firefox doesn't seem to have any crash reports for me when it HAS crashed several times.

Firefox used to auto fill forms for me but lately it does not. On the rare occasion that it does (for one web site), it fills in one field at a time, not all at once like it used to. It does not fill in my address either.

I tried the usual troubleshooting without success. I went to settings, privacy & security, passwords, and made sure "fill usernames and passwords automatically" was checked. I went to the history section and made sure "remember form and search history" was checked. I went to the custom settings for history section and made sure that Firefox does not clear "form & search history" when it closes. For some reason,(I am in the US) I don't have a "forms and auto fill" section to scroll down too as some users suggest, nor do I have the "auto fill address" box to check or uncheck. Nor do I have a "saved addresses" button to check or uncheck or where I can supposedly add, edit, or delete an address.

I am running windows 11 and use Malewarebytes for my antivirus, although I can find no settings in the Malwarebytes suite that would impact Firefox's ability to auto fill forms. Any suggestions??

I got a popup tab with a very dated UI about an urgent Firefox update involving a flash player. It told me to click allow installation or something like that I don't remember exactly. Once I clicked the allow button there was a popup and a green arrow pointing to the popup in the top right. I clicked it and it said to click "add" next. I realized this is probably a scam and did not add it. I'm assuming that add was referring to something about extensions or plugins but I checked those and there wasn't anything I already knew I had. I did a virus scan and it got nothing. The popup appeared alongside a Minecraft Skindex download. I did some research and learned it is malware and comes in many different forms. The add popup referenced something called auto ads off. Did I stop the malware by not clicking add and if not how do I remove it.

How do we permanently block and keep a website from being able to return bk into a person's life after the site was the cause of an immense amount of financial and emotional hardship. By having something that does this, like the Duck browser does, our clients, friends and family will feel more safe, right?

When I click on a pdf file, Firefox opens and displays the file, rather than handing it off to Acrobat, which is my preference. I'm running Firefox 122.0.1 and Windows 11 Firefox seems to ignore the settings in General, Applications. (See attached image)

    If I set to Always Ask, Firefox displays the file without asking.
    If I set to Save File, Firefox does not save the file. It displays pdf instead.
    If I set to Windows Default Application, Firefox displays the file.
         (Note: Acrobat is set in Windows as my default app for pdfs. If I find a pdf with Windows Explorer and open it there, Acrobat is launched and it displays the file. IOW I've confirmed that Acrobat is set as my default app for pdfs)
    If I set to Acrobat, Firefox displays the file.

I see nothing in Firefox Settings showing an Add-in for pdfs Any ideas?

I've discovered it has something to do with Amazon.

I didn't know I had it until I just migrated to Windows 10 and a new firefox update occurred.

Even then, my only clue is a little orange "triangle" that shows up at the top line of the 'hamburger' menu at the top right on the screen. When I clicked on it, I got a message saying "Silk Privacy Pass wants to update".

I went to my installed extensions/themes screen and there is nothing about a silk extension or add-on.

It also showed up when I looked in the startup configuration and it showed it was loading during startup there. I disabled it. But today I just got the orange triangle again an hour ago wanting me to let it update.

I want it gone!! Especially when it showed up on my system without my asking or knowingly agreeing to it.

FWIW, I also ran Agent Ransack (search utility) on the drives and "Silk" does not come up as a file name for an app, DLL or any other file.

Hi,

  I am running the latest Firefox v122 (firefox_122.0+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1~mt1_amd64.deb not snap)

and when using the --profile option to specify the startup profile it fails to start even on a NEW system that never ran Firefox if I give it a directory that resides on a mounted ext3 filesystem.

  All the permissions are OK and yet running strace I see an error and after a few second will get the

generic pop-up with the error message: (after a few seconds)

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile.

 Running the SAME from /tmp works fine, but I need the profile to reside on a persistent storage area

so if the LIVE distro restarts then it can restore the previous session, bookmarks, options, etc...

============================================================
 The 2 directories were created identically and have the exact same permissions:

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ mkdir /tmp/firefox3

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ mkdir /media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ ls -ald /tmp/firefox3 drwxrwxr-x 17 xubuntu xubuntu 1080 Jan 21 22:05 /tmp/firefox3

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ ls -ald /media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3 drwxrwxr-x 17 xubuntu xubuntu 4096 Jan 21 21:13 /media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3

============================================================

The only difference is that one is mounted on tmpfs and the other is on /dev/nvme0n1p2:

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ df -k /tmp/firefox3 Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on tmpfs 32560016 351528 32208488 2% /tmp

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ df -k /media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3 Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/nvme0n1p2 195751828 51056068 142695768 27% /media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home

============================================================

When starting firefox with the /tmp/firefox3 profile directory it works fine and starts up:

xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ firefox --profile /tmp/firefox3

newfstatat(AT_FDCWD, "/tmp/firefox3", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0775, st_size=1040, ...}, 0) = 0 newfstatat(AT_FDCWD, "/tmp/firefox3/.parentlock", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0664, st_size=0, ...}, 0) = 0 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/tmp/firefox3/.parentlock", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 11 fcntl(11, F_GETLK, {l_type=F_UNLCK, l_whence=SEEK_SET, l_start=0, l_len=0, l_pid=-487933736}) = 0 fcntl(11, F_SETLK, {l_type=F_WRLCK, l_whence=SEEK_SET, l_start=0, l_len=0}) = 0 uname({sysname="Linux", nodename="xubuntu", ...}) = 0

BUT when using the persistent storage on the real filesystem (but SAME exact permissions) it fails:

newfstatat(AT_FDCWD, "/media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0775, st_size=4096, ...}, 0) = 0 newfstatat(AT_FDCWD, "/media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3/.parentlock", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0664, st_size=0, ...}, 0) = 0 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/media/xubuntu/sys_n01_home/mozilla/firefox3/.parentlock", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 11 fcntl(11, F_GETLK, {l_type=F_UNLCK, l_whence=SEEK_SET, l_start=0, l_len=0, l_pid=1519466008}) = 0 fcntl(11, F_SETLK, {l_type=F_WRLCK, l_whence=SEEK_SET, l_start=0, l_len=0}) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) close(11) = 0

Am I doing anything wrong or is this some weird startup issue / race condition in the parentlock management?

Thank you for looking into this.

  -Sanjiyan

PS: I can upload the full strace file for both scenarios if needed. Thanks again.
