Profile: https://share.firefox.dev/490blHh

Subject says it all, but it seems to occur with any site, anytime I try to open more than three or four tabs (ctrl-clicking links on a forum, for example) my Firefox instance grinds to a halt and starts consuming most of my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600).

I've tried turning off Firefox's various protections. I tried troubleshooting (formerly "safe") mode, and the problem isn't as bad but is still present as far as I can tell. The only extension I can think that would be making it worse is Tree Style Tab, but I don't know enough about interpreting Firefox profiles to verify.

The only reason I consider this odd is because doing the same thing in Chrome doesn't have this issue on this same device. If I open many tabs quickly, Chrome itself is still responsive. Those newly opened tabs may take a while to load and become interactive, but it doesn't affect the rest of the application. I pay my ISP for gigabit DSL, and as far as I can tell that is roughly what I get. In my case, Firefox doesn't behave this way.

Dear community,

since some recent update I am asked for a primary password every time I open the browser, which is higly annoying. I like my passwords protected by a primary password and in former times it was only asked for when trying to reveal a saved password. I know this has probably to do with me using Firefox sync, because I use the browser on my Android too but I would like to keep my devices synced. Besides: On my phone I am only asked for a fingerprint when accessing passwords, not every single time I open the app. There must be a way to reconfigure this on a desktop, right?

MS Edge works just fine.

When trying to set up alert notifications for FEDEX tracking status, the Submit Button remains active, even after filling all required fields and checking all required boxes. See website:

I have set https://www.fedex.com/ as a trusted site (Exceptions), and turned off Browser Guard. Also placed same URL in MalwareBytes allow list.

Firefox is the default browser on my MAC… used it for years, no problems.

Lately, when I get my daily email from The Washington Post, and I click on a link to an article, Firefox (1) shows me the lead picture as a blur and (2) in a short time, blanks the window.

When I click on “reload,” the article comes back (at the beginning of the piece) with the same fuzzy picture and again, within a minute, blanks the window.

If I use the same links, from the WashPost article, and use Safari, the pictures are clear and the article doesn’t disappear.

I don’t know if it’s related, but when I’m playing a game from the AARP website, and it’s time for a commercial, the window goes blank and I have to reload … which brings up my game where I left off.

I don’t know if it’s relevant, but I have “AdBlock Plus” and “AdBlocker Ultimate.”

Any thoughts ???

"Your browser is being managed by your organization" is on the top of my settings page and it preventing me from using some of my streaming services. I am at my home, don't work at a job where I would ever be on a network, what the heck? It is some name I don't even know. Did I get hacked? Is it a virus? Nothing I have seen on here so far has worked, and I AM NOT A LINUX USER. (After looking at other answers, seems to be a problem with Linux.) I am on Windows 11. Thanks!

Took me a while to figure out how to get the full installer to install to my faster and larger D drive, but I finally did.

Then I discovered it was still accessing C: under: D:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local D:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming

So I now have my Mozilla folders in both locations pointed to D: with a symbolic link or whatever.

But it STILL seems to be accessing C: to do SOMETHING, and I'm not sure what or where, as searching C: for Firefox or Mozilla turns up nothing.

It still thrashes my C: drive though, especially noticeable if I'm using it for something else at close to 100% and Firefox for example loads a Youtube page that was unused/not in focus for a while.

Somehow it's STILL causing as much activity on C as D and I'm not sure why...if I was maybe I could point more directories to D with more Symbolic links (or whatever they're called...I may be misremembering since I set this up a few weeks ago, but they seem to work fine).

(I gave up on Chrome...I can point a bunch of stuff at D, but sooner or later it breaks its ability to do updates until I move stuff to C...I'm guessing maybe the updater "fixes" something in the background that breaks it. Thankfully Firefox seems to update just fine (I do NOT use the background process, I just check every day), and I got 122 today seemingly fine. No idea why browsers are so weird about getting installed on an alternative drive compared to other programs...it's a pretty common thing to want!)

Firefox sending multiple requests with useragent Mozilla 5.0

I'm getting locked out of a site I visit regularly. Their tech support sent me this reason:

‘Firefox browser (or some extension) is sending multiple requests to us with the browser User-agent "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"' This can't be happening from the normal usage, so we automatically block them because they are not the requests from genuine Googlebot crawler.

The possible cause might be using some browser extension that makes the request with Googlebot user agent.
Please make sure to disable all extensions (and remove that you are no longer using) and let me know so we could check on our end if that stopped?"

How do I find what is doing this and how can I fix it?

Firefox is my default browser, but it does not allow me to log in to specific websites. For example, ihg.com, when I click the sign in button nothing happens, I just have a little note at the bottom left "javascript:void(0);" Another example, dutchcrafters.com , when I click Log in with Gmail, nothing happens.

I have tried removing all the content blocking extensions (privacy badgers, ublock origin, etc.), did not fix it. I have tried a firefox refresh, did not fix it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox with several device restarts, did not fix it.

I know this must be a firefox specific problem because microsoft edge work perfectly for both of these examples. Any other suggestions to fix this firefox issue?
