Removing and adding back AOL email accounts

I use TB 68.8.1 with 4 AOL accounts, 3 of them are POP and 1 IMAP on a Windows 7 PC. AOL just sent a notice saying that by October 20th, I need to 1. download their apps to my devices, not going to happen, 2. continue using a 3rd party client but remove and add back the accounts to reconfigure for their new security or 3. use a 1 time app password that must be redone every time you sign out. This option seems cumbersome since my computer is not on all the time. Do I really need to remove the accounts and re add or is it just some settings to change? If I have to remove the accounts what about my messages that are not saved in specific local folders? I had the Import/Export Tools but it had been disabled many version ago as legacy. Can this be done by creating a new profile before and moving messages after adding the accounts again? I do have EMailchemy which can save the messages but not sure about getting back into TB. Thanks

just yesterday i noticed that when i had any audio playing in firefox, the title shows up next to the volume meter when adjusting my computer's volume with keyboard keys. spotify used to do this when i used to use it and it was a pain to disable it. how do i disable it in firefox

I subscribe to a number of separate "Things" hosted by a single company (silly example) http://stuffstuff.co.uk. My user name for each of the separate things is "mr-silly@silly.co.uk" and the only thing that differentiates them is that each "Thing" requires a different password.

Thing 1 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 1sillything Thing 2 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 2anothersillything Thing 3 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 3moresillything

and so on...

Unfortunately this Lockwise thing will not permit this to happen, presenting the following stupid message.

"An entry for http://stuffstuff.co.uk with that username already exists. Go to existing entry?"

How do I get around this Lockwise silliness?

The email address is required as the user name by the company.

Don't suggest having a different email address for each user name, that is not possible.

While the question maybe posed in a silly manner  :-) I am quite serious about the problem. Thanks Ax

My issue is the lack of a heads-up from Mozilla Thunderbird about the downside to upgrading (I use the term loosely) from 68 to 78. Where was the warning that the add-ons I was using would not work (and now, months later that there are STILL NO UPDATES to v78-compatible add-ons). I was not aware that there were profile and database changes that would occur making for problems for lots of users.

The forum is full of comments about these points so I'm not going to belabor with further feedback but I would like to emphasize that Thunderbird may very well have signed it's own obsolesence warrant for failing to take its customers base real needs into account. Fortunately for me a roll-back to 68 was easy since I had just done a full image backup.

I'm not really looking for "help" or a solution to a particular problem. But, respectfully, WTH were you thinking?

J'ai tenté une désinstallation de Thunderbird et réinstallation mais cela n'a rien fait.

Je suis sous windows 10.

My Thunderbird account is in a bit of a mess and I need help to resolve the problem. It is on my iMac running Catalina OS15. History: Last week, after I changed my AT&T/Yahoo email password, I had difficulty getting Thunderbird to accept the new password. I tried different server settings as well as creating a new profile and new accounts. Finally, AT&T support set up a security key, which allowed me to access my Thunderbird incoming email and to send outgoing email.

In setting up a new profile or account, I lost all of my saved folders. I was finally able to restore them from my Profile folder, but made mistakes during my attempts. I may have restored from the wrong Thunderbird folder, stored either in Documents or Library. Lots of extra system type files were imported as you can see in the first screen shot. I put them in the trash, but it won’t empty. The second screen shot shows the side bar with 3 different In/Out/Trash folders. Only one has my saved folders. Several hundred emails were downloaded from the server into the Inbox. However, the date range is only since the problem began, even in the Inbox above the saved folders. The third screen shot shows Tool/Account Settings which may show the extra local folder.

Lastly, I lost my other two identities that I had set up. I’m sorry this is long-winded, but hope the information helps someone to help me to clean up this mess.

It's been a while since the release date of chromecast on browsers.. Today, year 2020, all the chromium based browsers add chromecast (Edge, brave, chrome, etc..). My favorite browser is firefox, and i am forced to use a chromium based browser to cast to my androidTV's. Sometimes i think to leave this browser and use a chromium based all the time.

I searched and installed chromecast extension to firefox and nothing works to me, and they are not user frindly as chromecast extension on chrome.

Can you tell me if you even think in add a chromecast extension in firefox by default?

cannot log in to my Bank of Montreal online banking!!!

I've used Firefox for years, and for years I daily do my online banking.

Now all of a sudden, without any warning I cannot log into my bank account. I've tried clearing history, etc. I've tried the about:config change...

I can log in fine with Microsoft Edge.

My wife uses Firefox and she can log into the bank. I suspect that is because Firefox has not updated on her computer.

This is maddening, to put it mildly.

I've changed my personal device and currently I only have Firefox installed for the device I am using. When logging in, I've restarted the account password, expecting that sync data from previous devices will be there even after password reset.

Now I've lost all my data, so is it possible to recover Firefox sync data in this scenario?

I 'refreshed' firefox as suggested. The guidance suggested that all my logins and passwords would be preserved but when I check the Logins and Passwords all have been cleared. I am now faced with the arduous task of resetting many many login credential. Poor advice from Mozilla.

HI, My Thunderbird has recently auto-updated to V78.2.1 & there appear to be some major issue with it as follows:

Previously when clicking the mouse on a any line in any pane, that line would be highlighted so you would know what you are looking at when the mouse is moved. This no longer happens!

When new emails arrive into the email list pane the details are all invisible bar a small yellow star to the left until clicked on which then makes the text appear!

Backgrounds when replying to, forwarding or writing new mails are black!! Why on earth is this happening??

All of these issues are highly annoying & definitely NOT an improvement!

Is there any way of solving these & if not can I revert back to a previous version?

I received the yahoo messages about sign-in changes coming next month. I saw the long thread in the Mozilla support about this. I did as that thread suggested.

  • I logged in to the e-mail account via Thunderbird.
  • I changed the Security Settings Authentication method to OAuth2.
  • I closed Thunderbird.
  • I logged out of my Fedora user account.
  • I logged back in to my Fedora user account.
  • I launched Thunderbird.

When I tried to go into the e-mail account, a small browser-like window appeared with the e-mail address already filled in. I clicked "Next". Then I get the message "Please reload the page and try again or use anothe browser.". Neither clicking "Next" again nor putting the cursor at the end of the e-mail address and hitting "enter" helps.

How do I log in to my yahoo e-mail account?

I am not sure whether this was caused by an auto Windows or Thunderbird update, but I haven't changed any recent settings that should cause this to happen.

All email subjects, date, sender, etc. now display on white text and white background. Things like Stars and attachment icons display normally. If I click where the email "is", the email shows up properly. Having my mouse over to highlight the email shows that it is indeed white text on white background (as opposed to no text at all).

Things I have tried:

  • Changing Options > Colors (neither changing text nor background color appear to do anything)
  • Disabling/re-enabling my add-ons to change email color per account
  • Changing my theme
  • Changing Windows 10 default app theme (Light or Dark)

All of these with Thunderbird restarts each time. I have also, in general, restarted the PC.

Ideas?

I have used Bing with no problems for years now, recently it has been giving a banner at the top whenever I use it stating that a website is slowing the browser, then options stop or wait. I have never had this before. It comes up on every page that is opened in Bing. I have waited and never seen a web page open or anything. Also, none of the functions on the Bing page are working. I cannot click the three bar link for more options, change the safe search option, or sign in to my Microsoft account. All these links are dead. When on a page I cannot use the filter link. I also cannot click on anything at all while the banner notice is up. I have tried to get help form Microsoft and they were unable to do anything. They suggested using their browser Edge. They suggested emptying the cache, which I did with no change, and they suggested uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it. I do not want to do this because it will destroy al my formatting and lose lots of links, etc... as it has every other time I have done this. I hope someone here will be able to help me. I prefer Bing search engine to all the others. I have tried Google and DuckDuckGo and they do not work for me, or find what I am searching for as well as Bing has. The others seem to be more for purchasing and not searching and so I do not like or trust them. Using Windows 10 on a Desk top PC, and had no trouble with Bing until the last week or so.
