Every time a youtube video is placed on landscape mode on the firefox app of my android phone it becomes a single blurred image with the audio playing as normal.

Youtube seems to work fine on other browsers and I have tried all basic fixes, like deleting cache/data/reinstalling app etc. Appreciate any help.

Edit. Okay I managed to fix the issue so I'm adding the solution here in case anyone runs into this problem. Apparantly youtube playback decided to enable "ambient mode", a feature I didn't even know existed and seems to not play well with a phones resolution.

Just click the settings gear while the video is playing in landscape (mine is on the top right) and disable the "Ambient mode" feature.

I have been watching YouTube videos on firefox android and have been clicking ful screen and landscape has been fine. Then over night a few days ago, it stopped. When I turn the phone to landscape, the video sound is playing but the video is blank, with no picture. It is fine in normal portrait just not when I click full screen when it was working.

I've cleared the cache and history, I've even unistalled Firefox and reinstalled it twice, once from the play store and once as the apk but to no avail. I have also disabled adons, tried the picture to picture, and autoplay but nothing works.

Any help to rectify and return my viewing would be appreciated.

Sometimes, when playing a video on a video uploader site such as YouTube, Naver Blog, Bilibili, Vimeo, or Dailymotion in Firefox for Android, there is an issue where the top bar and navigation buttons are not hidden when the player is switched to full screen.

Hi there, I'm using Firefox for Android, and I have issue where videos will not start after some time. Here's my original report/review on the PlayStore: Videos tend to freeze after a few hours of not using the app. After I start using the app again, video won't resume, nor play in another tab. I have to go through options to kill the app, and launch it again.

Repro steps:

1. Open YouTube or Twitter
2. Play some videos
3. Switch to some other app
4. Wait for couple of hours (Yeah, i know)
5. Return to Firefox and try to play any video
6. Observe that video will not start, only the video player's UI gets visible

More info:

• Phone model: Pixel 6
• Bulleted list itemOS: Android 14, and I've had this issue on 12 and 13 as well
• App: Firefox for Android, and I'm having the same issue on Nightly as well
• App version: The latest (119.1.1), and I've had this issue for at least a year. I started using firefox for watching YouTube since the extensions were available on Nightly version under some settings and special extensions lists.
• Extensions: uBlock Origin and Video Background Play Fix

I'm facing problem when I try to run videos when using my wireless headphones (Sony wh1000-xm5 if name required) I had the same issue on my previous phone as well (Both phone models- Xiaomi poco F1 and F5 )

Are there any fixed to this?

Many pictures(images) at the internet are scaled automatically when on the mobile browser. It sometimes seems blurry(scaled toblowbresolution), especially images with texts. The image of natural(full scale) resolution can be seen only when it is opened in new tab(image only), or opened in decktop mode. Is there any way to see all the images with natural resolution without those methods? Example screenshots of an cartoon attached. 1. Blurry image (first seen) 2. Natural resolution (clicked) 3. Hi there So basically when I open a video on YouTube in full screen my browser minimalizes (I land on my phones home screen) and when I reopen it only half the browser is visible - the bottom part is just black and even in the app overview it appears like only half the browser is there..? (See screenshots) To fix it I need to kill Firefox process and reopen it. It doesn't always happen, only once every few videos. I already tried clearing the data, cookies, all that basic troubleshooting stuff, and deleting ublock from my add-ons. Firefox is up to date, same for my OS. Specs: Poco F5 Miui global 14.0.9 Android 13 tkq1.22.1114.001

I posted about it in a review, and per request, am restating the issue here:

the Firefox for Android app has consistent and ongoing issues with embedded audio players/embedded audio files (most often file types hosted on dropbox and embedded on a secondary website) where the audio file will either not load at all, refuse to download because it has timed out the file without playing, or stop half way through and refuse to reload.

So far, I've had about a 30% success rate with using these embedded audio players across platforms, with the specific websites themselves looking into broken links and finding no issue.

On the same vein, YouTube as used through the mobile browser, while more successful, seems to struggle to load the page while scrolling, and occasionally stops playing videos altogether, even when reloaded and hard restarted.

Woke up this morning and my stupid phone had updated to the new, awful, Firefox on Android: ‎ 119.0 (Build #2015980915), 367d60e851+ GV: 119.0-20231019122658 AS: 119.0

To my horror I was seeing images on webpages, totally ruining my browsing experience. The main reason I use firefox on Android is because it allows me to turn off media. I don't want to see any of that, almost always entirely irrelevant, distraction. Now I'm going to have to use Samsung internet and continually click reader mode. This is NOT about ad blocking, it is not about saving data. It is about drastically improving the browsing experience. Please reinstate blocking of all images and videos.

I'm having a problem with playing videos on websites. When I click the expand to full screen button about half the time the full screen video comes up for half a second and then the window shrinks down to a small square on the bottom right-hand corner of my screen. Sort of like when the youtube app minimizes a video. This window is unclickable and also everything at or below it in android is unclickable while it's there. If I click the window button on android and swipe the firefox app up to close it and restart it, Firefox doesn't even close and I can still hear sound from the video. I have to select on the Firefox app again which will restore the full window and then click the full screen button one more time and it will work. This issue is happening on every website I play video on on the Firefox app and it is extremely irritating. I'm about ready to switch to another app if this can't be solved, but Firefox is the only browser that allows ublock origin so I don't want to do that. Can anyone help?

YouTube has blocked it's videos with an Adblock notice even after all such adblocks were removed. After removing my History and then my Cache, the Adblock notice reappeared blocking any video that I might try to watch. This has been happening all week, I called Apple five times and the final call ended by telling me they had no further ability to help me with such a software issue. This is no way to treat a satisfied customer, I listen to music to meditate each morning and now spend hours trying to avoid the blockage before my morning can begin. My days have been miserable as a result. Please help!

Only within Firefox for Android is the Icon for images on my Android 11 mobile, using Gboard keypad, is broken. For several weeks now.

All it brings up is ONLY GIFs options.

Tested upload images to Twitter x via the inbuilt Chrome browser. It worked fine.

Updated Firefox app to the latest. Tried turning off Ghostery add-on. No difference at all.

Any advice please. Seems only a couple of people lately have posted on this issue. But saw similar issue from some years ago.

I'm experiencing a number of issues with videos not playing at all. I could do a search for something, and I'll either find images or videos to help with what I'm working on or I'll look up video tutorials for how to do things, or just any random videos. But the videos just won't play. Instead, the page just reloads back to the same page and same screen where there's a play button, and the videos WON'T PLAY.

I think YouTube is working fine for me, but other sites and videos just don't work at all.

Hi, This is so frustrating, but this is the second time it happens for me (two different websites), so I'm kind of sure this is a bug. I go to "website settings" and block autoplay for audio and video on data, yet it autoplays them. Each time, I am forced to choose the option 'block autoplay' (regardless of whether I'm using data or WiFi), which successfully blocks them. At first, I thought it was just an accident, but turns out it's more likely a confirmed bug.
