My main, daily used computer updated to FF 134.0 when it was released. Two other computers that are less used will not. All are Win10. The two computers were booted up this weekend, but when you try to check for updates, it says they are already up to date. Both are 133.0.3 and have never had update issues before.

Was the 134 update pulled for some reason?

I know I can probably manually download and install the update, but am worried there may be problems with 134.

Are you aware of the incompatibility of these two government websites that no longer are compatible with Firefox? The VA appointments of the HealtheVet site are no longer working and when I called for support they sent me to the chrome browser and says it is not compatible with Firefox. The same is now also true with the SSA website. This is a problem with Firefox or the government being forced to use chrome compatible sites only. YES, it needs to be fixed on one side or the other. Do I need to contact Congress?

The video from certain sites(not one, but multiple ones) plays as gibberish. Attached a sample from amazon prime. Tried the following

  • System restart
  • Bios/Firmware update
  • Display driver update
  • Windows refresh

The issue seems very much localized to Firefox and not seen in any other browsers.

Can you add a configuration setting to Mozilla Firefox to disable Create New Profile, configurable in the policies.json file? (A second option but a much uglier one would be to disable being able to select a file location for a new profile. Then you could make the default profile directory write only, which would also accomplish the same thing.) (A third option would be to able to configure extensions by default upon installation in the ExtensionSettings policy.)

To explain, I use LeechblockNG on Firefox on Ubuntu. Very helpful. By placing a policies.json file (see at bottom) in /etc/firefox/policies/ directory, I can create a system wide policy. I can make the LeechblockNG extension mandatory and to be installed upon every new profile creation. That all works very well. HOWEVER, there is NO way to be able to set those options in the new profile. So LeechblockNG is installed with default options (which are no blocking at all), which effectively bypasses the addon.

I am also writing the author of the leechblock extension to see if there is any way to set the options for leechblock upon installation (the third option above).

But I know other people have this same question, and at present, if I am correct, there is no way to block new profile creation, or the Profile Manager window in Firefox.

So could you please add that option to the Firefox policies.json configuration? Something like "DisableNewProfiles": true would do it.

Thanks!

My current policies.json file in /etc/firefox/policies/ directory: { "policies": { "BlockAboutConfig": true, "BlockAboutProfiles": true, "PrivateBrowsingModeAvailability": 1, "DisableSafeMode": true, "ExtensionSettings":{ "*": { "installation_mode": "blocked", "blocked_install_message": "Prohibited install more extensions." }, "leechblockng@proginosko.com": { "installation_mode": "force_installed", "install_url": "https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/4374316/leechblock_ng-1.6.6.xpi" } } } }

Completely bizarre behavior that I cannot explain or find any google matches for. When I enter a search term in Mail, I don't even have to hit enter, it shows up in Firefox's search field as soon as I make Firefox the active application (iMac desktop). It happens if I have the Firefox search bar open, or if I open it (Cmd-F) afterwards. It happens in Private Browsing. E.g. if I clear the Firefox field, go to Mail, type some letters into the search field, as soon as Firefox becomes the active window, the search term is populated.

I will entertain any explanation or suggestion, whether based in reality or not. FWIW I'm running Malwarebytes unpaid version so I have some sorta protection. For FF extensions I have Ublock origin, FB Purity, and FB container. I tried turning them off; no change. I didn't try restarting FF after turning them off though, too many tabs needed right now.

thanks, jim
