Greetings,

Happy memorial day from our family to yours! Let us remember those courageously gave their lives. I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for more than a decade, on multiple Operating Systems, and this is my first post in this great community. Overall, long time Mozilla user and a fan!

Goal:

My objective is to keep only last N days of emails in order to save disk space. I would like to set up 2 gmail accounts.

Expected Behavior:

Right after setting up the email account, if I change settings from Synchronization & Storage page to download emails from only most recent N days, Thunderbird should respect that setting. Most importantly, this setting should only limit the scope of downloading emails, and under any circumstances, should not delete emails on the remote server.

Actual Behavior:

Right after setting up the email account, Thunderbird aggressively starts downloading emails regardless its size or age. If I change settings to sync most recent N days, I still see old emails. These old emails do not away - even after restating the application or even restating the computer. After referring to another post on this forum I also tried using 'Compact folder' option followed by restating the application. It did not seem to do the trick.

The question:

Given the above, I am wondering, somehow - if I changed Thunderbird's default Synchronization & Storage settings to download only most recent N days' emails, would it help me achieve my goal? If it would, I would like to know how.

FWIW - I might be using Mozilla Thunderbird 68.8.1 (32-bit) portable, in Windows 7.

P.S. : I am open to any approach that helps me achieve my goal.

Firefox offers the option to "Fill login" through the context menu (see attached image) when ever in a login or password field. However I am using Bitwarden instead of the Firefox password manager and disabled saving passwords in Firefox. Is there a way to remove this "Fill login" action as it always just shows that no logins are saved?

Thanks, Mattias

It use to be after sizing the URL and Search to be even lengths, and then in Customize placing the Reload icon between them, the 2 windows would remain relatively the same length. Now, however when completing the steps the Search window is reduced considerably (see attached). How to get the URL and Search portions more or less equal?

When downloading pdf, html and other files I recently started getting an "Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code" warning. This is annoying and definitely nothing I didn't know. Besides, many of these files were written by me, so this simply represents an additional annoyance in my workflow. How do I permanently disable this behavior?

Hi,

I've just had to restore my Pixel 4 from a Google backup after a hardware fault. When I go to the screen to open a new blank tab, Firefox has reverted to displaying thumbnails for all the existing tabs. I like to keep quite a few tabs open, so I had changed a setting so that Firefox displayed a list of already open tabs, rather than showing them as a series of thumbnails. Unfortunately, as a result of having to re-install Firefox, I've lost that particular change.

Can someone remind me what I have to change to get back to the list display. I had it working just fine, but I cannot remember how I did it, and I can't even find the solution after a fair bit of Googling.  :-(

Thanks,

Mike

I've read this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/push-notifications-firefox

It tells me how to disable new notification requests, however when I go to website, the icon still appears. The icon still wiggles. I want to remove this ENTIRELY. Under no circumstances do I ever want to know anything about any website with notifications. It should be 100% removed because it is trash feature from trash companies.

Whenever I play any video in firefox (version 75.0, 64 bit) the video is muted for the first two seconds. Then the sound comes back, and I have to rewind to listen to see what I missed. I'm not sure when exactly this started, but I think it was like this for about a month. Maybe two. I searched for the solution in DuckDuckGo, but couldn't find anything. I did turn off fade-in and fade-out effects but that did not help.

I feel it is some kind of option to avoid sudden audio pop-ins or something. But so far I couldn't find anything relevant in about:config or the browser options.

Although firefox has simple UI it lacks some of the important features which is present in other browsers-. Please consider adding them in future soon.

1. Pull down to refresh.

2. Auto password generator similar to desktop version

3. More security info about the site such as certificate expiry date , cipher suite details.

4. Save as PDF the webpage

5. Customize the 3 dot menu in a horizontal grid layout similar to yandex to accomodate more items in an elegant way

6. Add option to change webview. I don't like your gecko webview because for app based url it never opens the url in the app when viewed in webview unlike chrome webview which immediately open the link in respective app on clicking it inside the webview page.

I was recently trying the yandex browser and it's UI and browsing experience is way more advanced than any android browser. Particularly the faster page load due to opera turbo and eye pleasing UI and layout. Is it possible to add opera turbo feature in firefox or a similar technology?

The 3 dot menu can be customised like yandex in a horizontal grid layout to accomodate more items. here the list is vertical and it gets longer with more add ons.(adding yandex layout screenshot)

I have looked at some responses and tried a few, nothing changes. I did go into Display-Formatting, both Default Font and Advanced-Latin and Other Writing Systems. Control ++ temporarily does what I want, but that's not the point because it doesn't stick.

Its not going to be acceptable to a majority of people, is a fix underway? Or is an add-on to 68.3 being developed soon?

In the good old days of Dial-up/Serial Comms links, and even today with Telnet, it's possible to get the Terminal to send periodic "no-ops" to the far end to keep the session open/ stop it from timing out with extended gaps between activity. Is it possible to get Firefox to do this too please? I wounder if it's possible to send some form of periodic auto-mouseclick in a set area of the webpage? I'm not looking to circumvent lack of activity session termination entirely as I only want to arrange a slightly prolong the gap.

Whenever I open a new window, it starts in a certain standard size (at least in Firefox 77). In earlier versions it would always open "maximised". So for me this behaviour changed (not sure exactly in which version it changed). Since I use my browser almost always with maximised windows, I have to maximise manually all the time now, and that is inconvenient. How can I get the old behaviour back? Preferably I would be able to establish a size I like (maximised, or otherwise as big a size as I set), and then save those settings for the future. Alternatively, I would also be happy if Firefox remembers the size of the window I closed latest. Is there any way to accomplish this?

There used to be an add-on that included just such an option but the developer quit updating it and it is no longer available. You'd think that having all headers/footers set to 'blank' under page setup would take care of this, but apparently not. I like to share and archive my emails sometimes on paper and more often than not this turns a one-page document into two pages-a waste that is not necessary. Thank you kindly.
