Any fix for this bug? The basic function of the web browser is to load a webpage and Firefox is failing that. This happens several times a day. This also happens in Troubleshooting mode so no add-ons are responsible. The Webroot anti-virus and Malwarebytes have Firefox.exe allowed.

I click on a link and the webpage never loads. I copy the web address and paste it into a new tab and it loads. I do not have this issue with Chrome or Vivaldi. I currently have Firefox version 106.0 and use Windows

For approximately three days now, I can't play any YouTube videos. I just get the spinning icon and suggestion to restart but it never resolves. I have tried a couple things but am currently not all that savvy and just want them to work! They will play fine in Opera, but I hate switching browsers just for that site.

Is there any clear way to prevent Firefox from automatically downloading and installing updates? I had checked the setting to prevent it being done without my choosing to do so: "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" but Firefox did not comply. What can a user do if Firefox will not comply with its own settings?

In government it's called autocracy, elitism and the only ones who like it are the ones in charge. Is that what's going on with Firefox?

Where or to whom can I send a request / recommendation / beg to get the Firefox browser actually to change something? I know what the community will say -- asked and answered. And no disrespect to the community at all -- it's very valuable and has been helpful to me -- but I am interested in putting this request before someone at Mozilla / Firefox who actually has the authority to decide it and do it.

FYI, not to be too mysterious about it, I think the Privacy & Security setting on Notifications would be improved by putting in a permanent option to let a user stop notifications when he or she has taken a screen shot. Allowing it to be paused now requires the user to go back in and change the setting each time he or she opens Firefox. For me, that's dozens of times a day.

On a broader scale, why not give the user the option permanently? We are, I hope, a land and community of people who prefer choice over mandates, even partial ones, when the substance of the choice or mandate does not pose a risk to others.

Thanks.

I'm getting warning emails (2 so far) that windows 8.1 will no longer be supported after I think the end of this year and that I should buy windows 11. Since I use firefox exclusively, does this warning affect me? I'm not very computer savvy and am not sure what is the relationship mozilla firefox to windows (I think it's microsoft windows). I guess this computer has windows 8.1 but I'm not sure. Also, awhile back, microsoft edge showed up on my laptop but I've never even opened it, not even sure what it is. Not sure exactly when but I bought this Asus laptop but it's been several years. Thank you very much for any instruction and/or advice you may be able to give me. Randy Boone. Hi, I just bought a new Windows 11 Ideapad laptop and installed Firefox 109.

The laptop display has a resolution of 2560x1600. My external monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200, so both are 16:10.

If I duplicate displays and just use the external monitor, which is what I have always done, Firefox renders all text as very blotchy, like a printer that is running out of ink.

Edge looks fine on the external monitor. I installed Chrome and it also looks fine.

I have a attached some sample images. I used my phone to take photos of the monitor. I noticed that if I used the Windows Snipping Tool or FF's built-in Take Screenshot that the image was darker and clearer in the selection box than when it's normally displayed.

I read a lot of comments on forums about various setting changes to try in about:config under gfx.font_rendering. Many folks say that has helped them. I tried lots of those setting changes, but none of them helped.

Also in those forums some folks said there was a change in rendering from FF 108 to 109, so I installed FF 108 but it looks no better.

Since I normally just use the external monitor, when I looked at the laptop, I suddenly noticed that Firefox on the laptop display looks fine.

Some online searching suggests using "Extend Display" in Windows if the laptop and external monitor resolutions do not match. I tried that and then Firefox looks fine on the external monitor. The laptop senses the different resolutions, it seems, and changes something that helps Firefox.

I prefer just using the external monitor. Duplicating the display is an option, though not my first choice. My other options are: Buy a new monitor with 2560x1600 resolution, except that I just bought this monitor recently so that's wasted money. Return the laptop since I've only had it 2 days and get one with a 1920x1200 display. I had considered one of those, but it was more expensive and opted for this one.

I'm trying to understand why this would only affect Firefox and not Edge or Chrome. Are there any ideas on that and if there is a way to remedy it?

Thanks, Ross

It seems a Windows 8.1 update Aug 10, 2022 made my FF browser enlarge on my second screen from my laptop. Moving it back to the laptop makes it return to the correct size. I've tried the resolution, zoom, etc. Not sure what's happened to it to cause the enlargement. Zoom only works on the pages, not the tabs. It's the whole browser that is bigger, including the tabs. Open to suggestions.
