I agree. I hate the feature on the home page. With my job, this is also a big privacy concern.

Please allow us to disable this.

Mozilla's solution is to set these two options in about:config to zero: browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo

However, this causes the restore on crash and the "undo close tab" features to no longer work. This is ridiculous as I see no relation to restoring a tab I just closed with the program still running, and restoring everything after the program has been completely closed.

The best solution I have found is to set the file "sessionstore.js" to read only. This will allow the undo close tab function to work but will not session restore after a crash (or restore anything after firefox has been closed). The file is located somewhere like "C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\"

Close firefox with a blank tab before setting the file to read only so there is no information stored in the file for eternity.

I hate that there is no option to change it. I don't need to accidentally close my stuff and then have someone hacking into my personal contact information. Please give us the option to disable or remove it all together. It is a nice option but the fact that we can't disable it, makes it annoying.

I overall nice feature if we can disable but if not then just remove this feature.

Please fix ASAP.

I did not like the session restore feature in FF 4. I uninstalled and reinstalled. During the second install I imported my data from IE8 and that seem to disable the session restore from coming up on FF home page. Remember I imported my home page from IE8.

To make "sessionstore.js" read only can successful disable "Restore Previous Session". (To disable history record can make "Restore Previous Session" disabled too, but I need history)

Try using this method. I hope it works.

In the Location bar (Where you type the URL i.e. www. firefox.xom), type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page. Copy and paste browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash in the list Double-click on browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to set it to false.

I managed to remove the "Restore Previous Session" button from the home page by changing my default home page with this : www.google.com/firefox/ (the default home page from the previous versions of Firefox). It worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

You can set the pref browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS, default in Firefox 3 versions) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.

@Nenogarda -- Even with this option, the previous session could be restored via Menu [History-->Restore Previous Session]; though not as straight forward as from the Firefox home page.

Hi tried this and it seemed to work. Just a few quick clicks to get your privacy back. When you finish your session-click home,close Fire Fox,open Fire Fox,click home and close. Next time you open up Fire Fox restore your previous session should not have any content in it.
