Whenever I hover on a link, the URL shows at the bottom left screen instead of the address bar itself. How do I change it? I want to see the URL whenever I hover a link back to the address bar, beside the URL of my current page. Thanks!
So yeah. When I first installed Firefox 4.0, the URL of the links that I hover to shows up in the address bar, then it "updated" and I was wondering where did the URL go whenever I hover to a link. Then it showed up at the bottom left of the screen. I wanna put it back to the address bar. How do I do that?

Unfortunately, there is no way to do that. Beta 12 has permanently changed that unless Mozilla decides to get that back to address bar in the Firefox 4 RC.
Why did they do that? Finally a fresh idea, and out of the window...
I am also guessing that.
Oh, wow, thanks.
So maybe that's why Mozilla crashed while I was browsing. Then it updated itself, and I can't cancel it. Then when I opened it again, well, voila, here's the problem. :|
There has been a quite a bit of feedback concerning the link preview in the location bar, with many saying they did not like it there and preferred seeing it at the bottom of the screen where it has traditionally been displayed in the status bar.

Yes, I know, but I kind of like the link preview on my status bar. :| Oh well. I'll try the add-on instead. :)
Thank you! :)

So why can't they make it an option? Even if the majority of people don't like it in the address bar, there are at least a few people that do. How hard would it really be to put a switch in about:config for this?
It's not solved, the plugin does just the opposite of what we want.
owanneke, the status-4-evar add-on posted by cor-el gives the option of showing hovered links in the location bar. The option is currently available in the beta version of the add-on.
TonyE, that doesn't just show the link in the location bar, it adds all status messages into it. We just want the view beta 11 had :)
Current location > Link location
And show everything else in the nice little white window just above the add-on bar (if you turned it on).
owanneke, the beta version of that add-on includes the option to display the link in the URL bar.
I think the point is that we don't want an add-on; we just want Firefox to work as it always did. Count me as one who has dumped 4.0 and gone back to 3.6.16 for, among other reasons, the lack of the status bar which displayed hover links.
