You can configure how Firefox handles email links such as user@example.com on a webpage by setting the email application or website used in Firefox. When Firefox is set as your default browser on Windows, you can also set Firefox as your default mail handler. This guide explains how to set Firefox as the application that opens automatically when you click mail links.

- Open the Windows Start menu

On Windows 11, you can also go to > > and enter MAILTO in the search box to find the application already set as the default, for example, Thunderbird. When you click on the entry that comes up, you can set a new default.
