Ringer, sound and vibrate settings

Firefox OS lets you control the sounds on your phone. Learn how to change your alerts or ringtones, add your favorite song to your ringtone library, or turn your phone on vibrate or silent mode.

Change your ringtone or alerts

  1. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small)
  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. Tap the Ringer Change button.

  4. Tap a ringtone or alert sound in the list to preview it.
  5. Tap the circle to the right of a sound to select it.
  6. Then tap Done.

  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. Tap the button under Ringer or Alerts to see your list of available sounds and ringtones.
  4. Tap a sound to listen to it.
  5. When you've found a sound you like, select it by tapping the circle next to it, then tap Done.

  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. In the Tones menu, tap the menu for either Ringtones or Alerts to see a list of sounds to choose from.
  4. Tap a sound to listen to it.
  5. When you've found a sound you like, select it by tapping the circle next to it, then tap Set.

Get new ringtones

Here's how to add new ringtones if you don't like the ones that come with your phone:

  1. Add the music files to the Music library on your Firefox OS phone: Adding music.
  2. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) .
  3. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  4. Tap Manage Ringtones.
  5. Tap the the plus symbol add ringtone 2.0 at the top of the screen. Firefox OS will open your music collection.
  6. Choose the file that you want to add to your ringtone library.
  7. Tap confirm ringtone at the top right corner of the screen.
  8. On the next screen, choose whether or not to use that file as your default ringtone, then tap Save.

Here's how to add new ringtones if you don't like the ones that come with your phone:

  1. Add the music files to the Music library on your Firefox OS phone: Adding music.
  2. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) .
  3. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  4. Tap Manage Tones.
  5. Tap the the plus symbol add ringtone 2.0 at the top of the screen. Firefox OS will open your music collection.
  6. Choose the file that you want to add to your ringtone library.
  7. Tap Done at the top right corner of the screen.
  8. On the next screen, choose whether or not to use that file as your default ringtone, then tap Save.
Transferring ringtones from an SD card: You transfer ringtones from an SD card to your phone. Put your SD card in your phone and follow the instructions above to add them to your Tones collection.

Share ringtones with another device

Got a ringtone that's too good to keep to yourself? Share it with other devices!

  1. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) .
  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. Tap Manage RingtonesManage Tones.
  4. Tap the menu button share ringtone menu next to the ringtone you want to share.
  5. Tap Share ringtone, then choose the method you want to use: email, messaging or Bluetooth transfer.

Silence incoming calls

Quickly silence your phone in a meeting or at a movie theater.

  1. Press and hold the power button for two seconds to bring up the phone menu.
  2. Select Silence Incoming Calls.
    • To turn the ringer back on, press and hold the power button again, then choose Ring Incoming Calls from the menu.

Turn on vibrate mode

Make your phone vibrate when you receive a call.

  1. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) .
  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. Tap the switch next to Vibrate to turn it on: fos enabled.
Your phone will still make a ringing sound unless you turn down the volume on your ringer.

Adjust the volume on your phone

While you can use the volume buttons to quickly make your sounds louder or softer, you also have the option to set different volumes for different functions:

  1. Open the Settings app Settings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) .
  2. Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap Sound.
  3. Use the slider next to each of the following settings to adjust their volume:
    • Media: Video or audio that you view or listen to on your phone.
    • Ringers & Notifications: Ringtones and notifications for messages, updates and app notifications.
    • Alarm: Controls the sound the alarm clock makes on your phone.
