If you are on a Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) on Windows, audio playback will be disabled due to increased security sandboxing restrictions. Sandboxing is a tightly controlled environment that restricts what Firefox can do when you are using a Remote Desktop Connection. This is a known issue in Firefox version 56 that we are working hard to fix.

In the meantime, you can reduce the sandbox security level by following these steps:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
  2. Search for security.sandbox.content.level and set it to 2.
  3. Restart Firefox on the remote device.
