This page describes Thunderbird's configuration options that affect the search function.

Enable the operating system's search to search messages

Menu location: Thunderbird > PreferencesTools > OptionsEdit > Preferences > Advanced > General

Enable or disable Thunderbird's global search

Menu location: Thunderbird > PreferencesTools > OptionsEdit > Preferences > Advanced > General

Specify whether messages in a folder are included in the global search (IMAP folders only)

Menu location: Edit > Folder Properties > General Information
