Whenever I happen to be downloading photos from the web, whether through image search, flickr etc. the latest version of the browser hangs within a few minutes with a little blue O spinning incessantly or often the browser simply closes without warning.

This also occurs when multiple tabs are open and simply browsing and when watching YouTube or other streaming media with other browser tabs open.

When firefox hangs and the cursor is clicked on the screen the browser screen turns opaque white and the only thing that can be clicked on is the X in the top right corner of the browser. Fortunately when the browser is opened anew the option is given to restore all tabs, which thus far in the past few hours has taken place about 10 times.

I've been using Firefox since it started, long since abandoning IE, however since this started I'm seriously starting to think about Chrome (even though that would mean moving over 1,000 bookmarks etc.
