For the past few days I have had an 'Important update' message from Mozilla poppong up on my PC. When I finally actioned it, it installed an older version of Firefox (3.0.19) than that already on my PC - why?

For the past few days I have had an 'Important update' message from Mozilla popping up on my PC. When I finally actioned it today, it installed an older version of Firefox (3.0.19) than that already on my PC!!! The final part of the install opened Firefox on a 'security warning' page instructing me that I was now using an outdated version and to install v3.6.8 instead. I verified by using a different route to the official Mozilla site that 3.6.8 was indeed the latest version and I'm almost certain that I had been using it before the 'update' to v3.0.19, and have now reinstalled it. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a security breach or what?
