I am writing here from Chrome browser because in accounts.firefox.com I get "Cookies and local storage are required. Please enable... Try again". Cookies are already enabled, Manage Cookies shows a lot of them -some minutes old (I had deleted them in one of the attempts to fix the issue, also recent history and other privacy stuff). Some pages I access regularly remain blank. One of them displays its content for 1/2 second. Other shows me the login page but I cannot login. Other sites I can access to the main page but its links. About required "local storage" there's nothing about that under Settings search. FF 92.0 Ubuntu 20.04 I've been using Ubuntu/Firefox for 14 years. Thank you

You can check for issues with Storage (indexedDB).

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

I already have the default profile created in 2020 when installed Firefox. I don't use it because that time I copied a backup profile I had I still am using. Launch profile in new browser loads okay a couple of pages that didn't load in my regular profile. So now I have to copy/sync important files from the corrupted to this "empty" profile. Just in case I created a new profile. Its directory only contains times.json and .parent.lock.

According to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-ol... I copied

  • places.sqlite
  • favicons.sqlite
  • key4.db
  • logins.json
  • permissions.sqlite
  • search.json.mozlz4
  • persdict.dat
  • formhistory.sqlite
  • cookies.sqlite
  • cert9.db
  • handlers.json

I have few extensions I have to reinstall... a headache (several tabs...). I have to wait until next Wednesday to continue. Thank you

New profile has not names/passwords for Google Maps... Is there a way to get which is the corrupted file?

Storage uses several files and folders and I do not know what files are involved The main folder is the storage folder in the profile folder, but there are also SQLite databases like storage.sqlite and storage-sync.sqlite and webappsstore.sqlite. You can try to rename/remove (you may want to keep a backup) these files and the storage folder and do the storage check once again.

Since storage is completely broken, it is quite possible that more is wrong with this profile.

Did you ever use this profile with a newer Firefox version and downgraded to an older version as this is the most likely cause for corruption or did you use a profile used by a very old Firefox version ?

more options

I didn't downgrade Firefox. I don't remember how old is this profile. For sure I kept it when upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 last year.

With my new profile and all those files copied to the new directory all works as if I didn't do anything: no passwords copied, no bookmark bar, no autocompletition with known data. I only copied files suggested here Thank you

If the new profile works and you have copied all important personal data from the old profile to the new profile than you can consider to remove the old profile or still keep it for a while in case you need more files.
