I've just changed my PC and when I download Firefox onto my new PC all my passwords and saved web pages are not there!! How can I get them please? I assumed the Firefox was the same version on my other PC as this one I've just downloaded. Help is required as I'm knackered without the passwords as relied on Firefox to save them!

Thanks Alison

I need to ask what you used to have "Firefox" to save your passwords and bookmarks to get then from the old computer to the new one?

If you used Firefox Sync that is risky based on what you posted here, especially if you can't used the old one or don't even have access to it any longer. Sync is intended to be used to two computers, not as a "backup media" where you turn in one computer when you leave the store with a new computer.

Same versions of Firefox or not, if you did something that may seem as innocuous as changing the Firefox Account password your data is "just gone" and lost to what I call the "tron gods". And few people don't read the (too small, IMO) warning message and just 'blow it off' only to have found that their Firefox data was gone.

That type of issue typically arises when a user misuses Sync by not doing a proper "real backup" of their Firefox data instead AND not seeing and/or reading that warning message.

And the only thing more that I can think right now, is to ask if you ever saw a message that the initial Sync event was completed appear in Firefox?

Beyond that is advice that depending upon the amount your data that was sitting on the Sync server is that the time needed for the first Sync event on a new PC with Firefox freshly installed can take more time than many people might expect it to take. And to try again and see if as long as a half an hour helps to retrieve your data. But you changed the password for your Firefox Account as I suspect, "all hope is lost". That is a "fatal" error that can't be fixed by anyone. And one or five versions different from old to new PC's is something that Sync can deal with, "without any problems".
