When ever I open a tab or enter a URL, I first get a little window trying to sell something. It is followed by a notice from Norton that says it is a fake support attack and was prevented. Then Firefox starts suppressing a large number of pop-ups, the highest has been 30. It is almost as though there is a retaliation for closing the fake window. It is not happening in Chrome. I already refreshed Firefox but still the pop-ups continue. Please advise if there is a solution or it anyone else is having a similar problem. I am attaching one of many different screenshots of a notice. Thanks in advance. Toni Bryant

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad blocker.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It seems I eradicated the problem, but I no longer have my Logins, Bookmarks, and other settings as I had Refreshed Firefox prior to receiving an answer. But will live with it as is. I used two anti-virus programs, Norton and Kaspersky. Did not try the TDSSKiller, thought I would leave that as a last resort.

I went extreme. Booted Windows in Safe Mode w/networking. Used the command line to do a chkdsk and repair at next boot-up. While in Safe Mode, did a full system scan via Norton, and Kaspersky. Interesting that Kaspersky found two little nasties, but Norton only found my IPScanner program and deleted it as an infection. Otherwise Norton found nothing.

Reset my settings in Firefox, eliminating most of my Add-ons, Theme, and the setting that allows for previous Tabs to load. I did notice that the Pop-ups were not happening on older tabs, just new ones.

After all this cleaning and dusting, my Firefox is running a lot faster and more efficient. It even eliminated a problem I was having with not being able to CLICK on buttons and functions.

Even the PC is skipping along without hesitations. Again Thanks for the comments and Help. Hoping this does NOT happen again. Will reintroduce Add-ons slowly and much later. Toni B.
